Mr Gann aka Johnny Stingray was a very cool nice man and friend. Sad he's gone. Up tell a few yrs ago he was still sending me new recordings of his new songs. He was a tall gentle giant . I will dig up some old photos of us today. I did an official released Johnny Stingray skateboard model for him about 20 yrs ago. I let him totally approve the final graphics, hell he was supplying me with most of ideas really. I covered and recorded Top Secret. He loved it.

Thank you very much Daryl and Pete for this magnificent historic interview with Daryl Hooper. It's very appreciated cause i am an old fan of the Seeds since 1966 living in Quebec city in Canada. 👋👋👋🖕🙏 Too bad the Seeds didn't film their live concerts at the height of their career.

I was on the fence about this group for a minute. I think I'm ok with it now. The music is hard and this guy is a pretty sharp tack. Best of luck to him.

It will always be hard to be a skin because the rest of society will always think automatically your a nazi. But i always enjoy that because 9 times out of 10 i get a chance to talk to them and show them the history and how wrong their perceptions are. Back when i started, computers and cell phones weren't around, and these days that makes it easier cuz i can always tell them to look up certain things online that show the Jamaican roots of skinheads and where the true culture comes from. I welcome that form of educating people. Even though they will never truly understand what its like to be a skin every day, an educated mind is better than an ignorant one.

As a long time skin one of the reasons i like this band is because they aren't the typical generic wanna be british fashion oriented traditional "oi" that the majority of U.S. oi bands are or try to be. Super boring. This to me is hardcore skinhead oi.

Jim Duckworth is the reason I play guitar, and therefore I suppose he’s also the reason both my sons play guitar too. One night in late-1983 I went to the (15th Street) Peppermint Lounge to see the Gun Club. I was 15 years old and I remember thinking that JD looked so cool up there with that big semi-hollow Gibson (a 175 maybe??) and he sounded so wild and amazing, I thought, “Man, I’ve gotta do that!!” The next day I emptied my meager savings account and with $240 in my pocket I went to We Buy guitars on 48th street. Unfortunately, even back in ‘83, you couldn’t get anything like a semi-hollow body Gibson, Gretsch etc, for $240. So I walked across the street to Manny’s, where I saw Steve Stevens hanging out chatting with the staff. I knew that I’d do better if I asked for help picking out a guitar, so I screwed up my courage and went up to Steve Stevens (I knew exactly who he was, being a young NYC punk) and told him I wanted an electric guitar, how much I had, and asked what he would buy if he were me. He found me a brand new, American made Fender Bullet S-3, sort of a student-model Stratocaster, but it was $250, plus tax. So he went over to the manager, had a word and I soon walked out with a brand new, bright red, made-in-USA Fender in a hard case, for $235 all-in (I needed the $5 to get home!). Since I was friends with Dee Pop, about 6 months later, Jeffrey Lee borrowed my guitar to play another show at the Pep. I don’t think that was a Gun Club show, I think he was appearing as ‘Jeffrey Lee Pierce’ that night. I still own that guitar, and though I’ve acquired many others over the years, I still play it nearly every day. And it’s all because I saw Jim Duckworth play with the Gun Club that night at the Peppermint Lounge. I don’t know if Jim Duckworth inspired any other kids to take up the guitar, but he sure had a big impact on my life, as guitar playing has been one of my main joys ever since. Thanks Jim.

@@phantompanther648It sure was. I loved that place. Another great show at the Pep, Halloween night 1983, I went there to see the Fuzztones open up for the Cramps, and there was an unknown group first on the bill called "It Crawled From The South" which turned out to be REM playing under an assumed name!! Great show!
