Monoceros IN
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 15 ส.ค. 2023
Sean and Kelly bought a bigger boat after sailing, maintaining, upgrading, and rather enjoying a 23' sloop for the last 3 years. Monoceros is a 1979 Hunter 37c hull number 52. It lived at a boy scout camp on Kentucky Lake during the 90's and eventually ended up very neglected at a marina in Louisville, KY where we purchased it.
Kelly all the way up!
This was about a week ago. Up the mast to lube the headsail furler, and retrieve a stuck pulley. Top looks good.

We did not see gators but we did see and feel a sweet train go by. Made it into mobile bay and on the last leg to dog river we have engine issues. Limped in after this recording and made it to our dock.

Wind shifted and we dragged our anchor here. Kissed the sandbar trying to reset. This was before all that at night. Enjoy the nice part!

It was a long day with several locks down the tenn-tom. Overgrounded the boat once while barely out of the channel. I was trying to stay away from a barge, will try not do that again.

After 5 days at the marina we made it out under our own power. This is Yellow Creek over/down to Bay Springs Dam.
Pickwick Lake headed south.

After 5 days at the marina waiting for some parts, getting laundry done, a few hot showers, a nice hike, and general hanging out, today we put the engine back together and got moving south. #monocerosin

10 minutes later the rain dumped.
Very interesting beautiful spot
Beautiful skies... I like the time lapse very cool. You guys are moving making the miles... 👍 I hope you enjoyed the holidays.
@ATAP...AnotherTime we rented a car for today while it's stormy in Mobile. Going to pick up 3/8 chain and a used bigger anchor. Thanks for watching!
Pretty scary
😮😮😮😮
really cool! how new are you guys to sailing?
@georgespalding5969 sailed a 23' on the Ohio for the last 4 years. We have both completed a few ASA courses, nothing offshore yet.
It was pretty cool running into you guys on the water yesterday north of Owensboro! Safe travels! Got pics and videos of ya'll gladly send them to you . Just need contact info... ya'll left anchorage at sunrise and I got video of you passing by Grandview boat ramp... again nice meeting you. Safe travels
@ericmaiden4159 very nice to meet you as well! We had to duck into a marina for a day with the high winds. We hope to be on Kentucky lake in the next few days. Thanks for finding us here on the tube!
We're on the move!
What did you use to climb the mast?
@dirtbag013 it's a mast ladder made of heavy webbing strap. Wife bought it somewhere online. We had her with a halyard on a winch connected to my belt to stop me from falling if I did. It was hard on my legs but felt very safe.
You put the ladder slugs up the sail track with a halyard.
Life right now ⛵🦄
Woohoo!
Came from the adventure builder Reddit sub. Boat looks good. Subscribed.
We're looking forward to getting back on the water. Sitting in my empty living room right now!
Just keep going!
Getting hinged!
Good time lapse, great boat.
All the boats with you!

Our portholes are doing great!
Sexy unicorn crew!
Wow, these two are super cool! Hehe.
Best of luck - these old Hunters are a lot of (fun) work! We're halfway through replacing the chainplates on our '82 H36....Keep us posted.
We bought a mast ladder and a harness we will try out soon.
Lots of projects, great boat though 😊⚓⛵.
When we make down to Kentucky lake, I'll look you up.
I just bought the same boat. Inside is in better shape, but it does has a lot of work that needs to be done. Deck core is rotten in place.
i would love to see the work you are doing, please post videos!
Great content! If you’re ever in the bagamas we should collab !
Thanks! Gimme about 1.5 years and I'll buy the first round of lime in da coconuts. You catch any fish? I need to learn!
Those two steel tanks are water tanks. There isn’t a holding tank . The Electrosan up in the V berth is the “holding tank”.
Grossinating.
