What type of power supply do you need?
Cool 👍
Humans can see 850nM, but it needs to be pretty bright. When you see that red dot, that's actually human infrared vision. I got some of the above LEDs for nightvision floods, but now lost in piles of junk (need to buy a couple more.) Human eyes: ...I found that I can just barely see a flashing green LED with 10Meg in series, current measured as 0.15 microamps, 1.47VDC so 220 nanowatts drive. For 880nM LED I used 10K in series, and could still see it when adjusted down to 150uA flashes of 1.22VDC. Both were without dark-adapted, using my cones and not my rods ...just turned off the room lights and tested myself within a couple of minutes, with each LED almost against my eyeball. (I measure my own dark-adaptation time as 12 to 13 minutes.) Need a bunch of these LEDs for indoors room light in complete darkness. Then you're seeing the infrared world. Your fellow humans then have alien black eyes, and much of our black clothing then looks light gray (well, light pink actually.) Also try this: get some transparent red filter, and put it over your green laser-pointer. (If any green gets through, then maybe use two layers of red.) Look into the laser, and you see red laser light. That's infrared leakage, a cone-shaped beam usually at 880nM. Now chill your green laser with an ice cube. The green goes away, and the (880nM) red light gets far brighter. Next, see if I can spin the vanes of a radiometer by using ice-chilled green laser pointer. Look everybody, I can make a radiometer start spinning by using my psychokinetic mental superpowers. But I can only turn it clockwise.
Should be good for 70 watts,, more for short time.
What’s the purpose of the video??
Thank You..Sir.
Nice
Wow, such a cool piece! Are you still selling it? I don't see it on your website

Looks Good-and adjustable..!
Probably no more than 85DB at 1 meter. We’re supposed to measure SPL at 1 meter. Not directly in front of the speaker.
Might want to tell Plogue Art Et Technologies Inc. about this.
Unfortunately the "Specs" are not available anywhere on the, "NET" for this chip and the chip requires, "Speech Rom(s)" in order to actually speak unlike the typical, "Phoneme" based units,(i.e. General Instruments's SP0256-Al-2 Speech Chip), where you can create words and/or sounds without a, "Rom",(Read Only Programmed Chip).
They are probably best used as replacements.
O wow, didn't know Electronic Goldmine had a youtube channel!! That's awesome😁Seems like having a channel for Unique and unusual store of electronic parts would be a no-brainer. That's gotta boost sales! Thanks for uploading.
Out of stock. Still thanks for the video.
How do you connect this? Is it a negative one? I assume you have to cut the battery wire one end and join the other end

where did you buy this fan
Finally figured out how to make these discharge in the thousands of volts. Keeping them oriented in a Delrin tube was the easy part. Silver solder paste and classic phone handset wire stripped did the trick. High temperature epoxy like what’s used to affix heatsinks then covered the six crystals I used. I spaced each crystal from the Delrin with glass beads from Michael’s. The epoxy seems to have lasted quite a while so far. 10kV rapping crystal!
Rapping on the round end, I assume? And, six lined up in a row and glued? (To form a rod?) With huge piezo blocks, if you connect two together, then hit one hard, the other leaps off the table. Or instead, if you charge only have one, then use a DCHV supply to charge it up to many KV. When suddenly discharged, it produces a hammer-blow. One guy in 1994 did this by accident, and his 3-inch piezo slab leapt up to the ceiling and shattered.
@@wbeaty Once again, my idol comments on one of my comments. 😀 That’s correct, the rapping crystal concept worked well but failed after maybe 100 hits with the “ramped stick and slip” mechanism I milled. I later went to my now consistent version which is reminiscent of my electron microscopy days… I used to prep samples using a Zerostat static gun originally made to keep dust off of LPs. The Zerostats use a compression for discharge of positive ions and release for negative ions. This type of setup copying the internals of the zerostat but much greater scale, seems to work well. So… rapping crystal concept worked for a while, compression crystal is still working and allows for negative and positive ions control. One more note about my previous message. The method of unifying mentioned should be clarified because it super important. I determined early on that soldering these crystals is impossible. The silver paste I used is the type meant for bridging from the copper conductors of a PDLC panel or solar panel. It’s not considered to be solder paste. I’m sure that using a hole punch with oxygen free copper shim stock would work better. The glass beads I mentioned were to space the entire rod in the Delrin tube before injecting the resin of choice. I went with more of the high temperature stuff used to encapsulate my silver paste and single wrap of polyester reinforced copper wire. My usage of the wire was mostly to prevent seepage of the silver paste while the epoxy cured. The entire stack was prestressed when drying. What would I do differently next time? I think having some .5mm glass rod to space the stack more evenly would be ideal. It was dependent originally on my usage of a silicone tube to epoxy together the crystals. I assumed that epoxying the crystal in the silicone which was in a rigid acrylic tube, would make for a straight stack but I was wrong. I’d epoxy the crystals in the Delrin in situ with the glass rods. The oxygen free copper idea is my next step but I’ll need to order more crystals. William, I’d love to discuss the Liquid Air Energy Storage system I’m working on for my new house. I had a room of solar energy guys drooling over my setup. Imagine running your house for three days straight off of the potential expansion of LN2. All of that stored LN2 is created exclusively from one solar panel and it’s stored in a large dewar with three cryocoolers on top.
@@Endoplasmic-Reticulum Me, I use the silver ink pens intended for repairing PCBs. Unscrew the pen to access the liquid. For tiny wires, strip off some 5KV meter-probe lead-wire, to get extremely fine tinned copper strands. Here at UW, lots of people want to connect to platinum sheets, or to ITO-coated glass electrodes. They use silver-filled conductive epoxy. Experiment: slowly heat up the ceramic while driving vibrations, to find the temperature where the polarization is destroyed. Then to "re-pole" the ceramic, just apply HVDC while hot, and don't remove HV till cooled below the threshold. (Could then put silver-paste electrodes on the ends, and pole it lengthwise ...if that's not how the manufacturer already did it. DIY re-poling should let us change the required direction of squeezing, or change where any ultrasonic beam comes out of the cylinder. (Haven't tried this myself, except with re-poling a hot 150C neodymium magnet.)
@@wbeaty I had no idea that I could repole piezoelectric crystals. I guess I may have accidentally done that in the past and didn’t realize it. Recently I’ve really gotten into creating stacks for ultrasonic cutting and welding. I’m using a Crest generator and a 10 donut stack so far. Getting the preload right has been lots of trial and error but horn design has been pretty easy. Thanks for the tips for the piezo rod assembly.
is this compatible with Arduino?
I wonder how that would run off a 5v solar cell. Might make an okay pump display type of deal.
One spot for each letter in the alphabet...
Any speed controller recomendation?
Why is it only 2.85 volts? That means you always need to connect multiple to be make use of it on 12v or 24v system. Would be nice to have only one together with a battery for example
I have a huge section of those in series to allow access to a geocache. It trips a solenoid to open the cache. Pretty cool indeed, I just checked, there’s 16 of them together.
Bought one of these (assembled version) to do a few quick tests with some GM tubes. It works well, but the output is a bit high. I measure around 550V which, especially combined with the fitted anode resistor of only 1MΩ, is a bit outside the specs for most tubes.
I Had 10 of those in my car. the neibors hated me
👍🏻👍🏻
I just received mine in the mail and it works great, just like in the video. I also made my own 3d printed case for it. I am surprised they don't include this with it since it only took me a couple hours to make one.
Cool
Nice, Good demo. From "old man" Gonna get me one..-Thanks
Cool idea! You could calculate the delta-time in events, invert the number to get a rate, and then feed a kalman filter to update the rate more often.
