i don't know much about layton (i played the ace attorney crossover) but i do know that layton's smile as he holds his hand out to luke is so loving and kind and has so much character in such a simple drawing

I made up the entire story Layton, learning about time travel, is driven to bring Claire back from the dead he becomes distant from Luke after some time Layton seeking power destroys London. Luke Emmy, Flora, Don Paulo, and desolate try to stop him but Layton and his army kills everybody except for Luke. Some more time has passed and Layton has finished the time machine Luke tries one more time to stop him and messes up the date bringing everything Layton, Luke and the entire Army 2 years in the past Luke manages to get out of the clock tower to Warner Professor Layton. Luke goes to his house and warns them about everything Layton accepts to help they get inside the Layton mobile to try to find a safe place for them to be just then Layton attacks and some goons surround the Layton mobile Emmy appears and gets rid of the Goons and leads them to a hidden bunker. They get inside the bunker and are used and they see desolate who explains that he saw the clock tower up here and quickly went to get Emmy and Don Paulo. Layton goes to create get Clive out of jail and get Demetri knowing that they need their help and Emmy goes to get Randall at the Heat of the Moment Layton comes to kidnap future Luke they all act quickly now Layton and Luke go to save future Luke and stop Layton while everybody deals with the army. And then the video happens. After the video Layton yells at Professor Layton while they're fighting telling him how that he of all people should know the pain that he is feeling about Claire's death Layton says that he is sad about her death but it's no good to destroy everything just for one. Person past Luke and unties future Luke after a long fight scene between Layton and Professor Layton Professor Layton manages to win the battle against Layton. Professor Layton manages to get Layton on Don Paulo ship both Luke's follow they get to the ground and inspector Chelme quickly arrests him but it's no use getting them back to the Future because it's destroyed Layton is yelling them telling them how sorry they will be and that just how he destroyed the future he'll destroy this world. A big time skip happens late London is built back with everybody's help Layton is sentenced to death for all the murders he committed and for destroying London and Mr and Mrs Triton adopt future Luke and they all lived happily ever after The end.

I discovered this a loooong time ago, read the description, and reserved it in my memory because at that point I had never played any of the games and didn't want accidental spoilers. I just finished Unwound Future, the last one I needed to play, and came rushing here to watch this. And BOY am I glad I waited! With all the context, it's even *better!* Holy hell! Also, Clive being the first to step up at 1:09 could not make me any happier. Your art can, though! The style feels great!

Amazing work! I had a similar animatic in the works myself where Layton changes sides soon after he (spoiler alert) learns the truth about Celeste. The shock triggers a heel-face turn and chaos happens because he doesn’t want to lose her again. Layton as a character is so fascinating! I think you pulled the idea of an evil Layton in a fantastic way and the crossover with the rest of the series is a wonderful touch! Love the design of future Layton as well! Great art and great animatic!

An AU where the Future depicted in Lost Future is actually the future and where Evil Layton is actually Future Layton and I guess Future Luke is Future Luke and not Clive, plus bringing back the characters from the prequel arc ? Damn so incredible !
