    Thank you for posting this. I have to replace the compressor bearing on my 328i and after seeing this I’m that much more enabled to knock this out. Happy I don’t have to remove more than the fan.

    I just ran into this same issue. The torx T50 were stripping out and 'ramping' out of the bolt so I couldnt apply any torque. Thought i was screwed... I was able to get it out by spraying the whole area with penetrating oil, then TIGHTENING the other bolt next to it. This took enough pressure off the stripped bolt to allow me to get it out. Hope this helps someone. 👍

    So I sold my 2016 JK and made the "upgrade" to the 2021 JLU Rubi. Eco Diesel (kill me on Diesel prices but still love that engine..). Anyhew, just went through a tough, tough time taking the hinge bolts off the tailgate to add some reinforcement/support for larger/heavier tires and had this exact same issue, wish I would have seen this video prior as I ended up having to drill out 2 of those bolts and broke two T50's. Onward and upward... Bought these exact same BA steps and just as I went to install noticed the paint job was like they dipped the damn Jeep in a bath of paint. I did not have these issues on my JK, must be something Chrysler is doing to make things easier for them, harder for us. Finding I need to go and buy more tools now (example heat gun) just to make any aftermarket changes that historically would have been handled with fewer tools. Thanks for doing this, solves my issue.. Subscribing in return!

    Hey David. Thanks for posting this video. Would you mind explaining to me what purpose the heat gun serves in your video? Is it to make loosening the torx bolt easier or is it to minimize paint damage when the breaker bar acts upon that bolt, or yet something else? Thank you.

    • @davidscarano2443
      @davidscarano2443 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It helps loosen the hinge so you don’t damage the bolt

    Out of interest what is the filter wrench you're using. I tediously made up a tool to lock the pulley whilst attempting to turn the nut and ended up snapping my socket bit. So next plan is to get a strap wrench of some kind and 3/8 7 mm bit.

      A couple of things to do b4 actually reaching the ac compressor. But all Ina nut shell after I did take mine out. It inspired me to do everything but electrical work. It is easy. I took a trip to NJ and while there I noticed some knocking. And discovered ac pully wobbling. Thought I lost my Car, man. Never the less I found a used one. Got rid of the ac coolant. Drained the radiator.took a total of 5 nuts screws lose.

      @@patrickcarr8942was your ac still blowing cold? i have the same problem after replacing the belt . Ac compressor pulley is wobbling and making a loud knocking noise. i was thinking of only replacing the pulley & bearings if the compressor was still okay and blowing cold.

    Hello, your t55 torque you used to back the tensioner should be a T60, also the bolt in the middle of your a/c compressor is a 9/32 socket. You need to turn it clock wise while holding the pulley with out turning. make sure your 9/32 socket is a thin wall and back it off until the a/c cover comes off! DON'T TURN NOR FORCE THE CAP COUNTER CLOCK WISE LIKE STATED ON THIS VIDEO, just turn the center bolt clock wise, the cap comes off! This cap, if broken no one locally will have it, nor any of the car part chains. only On-line. Good luck.

    My 10 year old son did a pretty good job editing this video, but you will find that he has one of the frames out of order. After I take off the retaining clip and the pulley, he goes back to a shot where the pulley is still on the car. Hopefully it doesn’t cause anyone to stop and scratch their head...sorry
