Canoes from all around Southeast Alaska arrive in Juneau for Celebration 2014 - many journeyed 100 miles or more!
Jim Zeller, from Angoon, says there are ten canoes in the group, from from Ketchikan, Wrangell, Sitka, Kake, Yakutat, Haines, and Hoonah.
Zeller described a beautiful entrance into Juneau, "It was awesome being out there on the water with the Orca and the Humpback. They pretty much escorted us on both sides as we came up the channel."
Zeller says when the the group arrives at Sandy Beach, they will perform a traditional coming ashore ceremony where the different clans ask permission to come ashore.
