In the northern latitudes it tends to be a fall bloomer and the flowers need to be hand pollinated to produce fruit. The vine is large and needs support and room to grow. With lots of light, regular watering and moderate fertilizer, Passiflora quadrangularis should flower within a year. Prune only after flowering.

Granadilla Passion Fruit (Passiflora quadrangularis) is an evergreen vine that produces stunningly intricate flowers and highly aromatic, edible fruit.
Passifloras are larval host plants to Zebra Longwing, Gulf Fritillary, Crimson Patch Longwing, Red-Banded Hairstreak, Julia Butterfly, and Mexican Butterfly. They will eat your plants up, but passifloras grow quickly enough that it should not be a problem as they can stay ahead of the larvae. For butterfly gardening, be sure and plant in part shade.
