    Sad that Gus died, but his mother is at fault, guns fail, all brands, all types, they get worn out, they get old. Always point the gun in a safe direction, guns have never killed anyone.

    Some things I have an issue with: #1 Rolled and riveted steel is NOT air or even water tight. The original tanks were dipped in molten copper or brass to achieve "airtightness" #2 Lewis knew that his airgun was 'Big Medicine', and he used the superstitions of the indian tribes to his and the expeditions advantage. They were safe because they were respected for their 'medicine'. #3 800 psi is not 'extremely high pressure'. Wonder what the pressure in their SCUBA or SCBA tank was, hmm?

    OK now when all these deaths and accidents happened please help me to understand how the rifle was orientated in such a way it could physically send a projectile towards another human? Your telling me it was a manufacturer's fault? THESE PEOPLE USED THEIR OWN TWO HANDS TO POINT A RIFLE WHICH THEY KNEW TO BE LOADED AT ANOTHER PERSON.

    I hate gun control advocates but this gun malfunctioned on the witness stand for gods sake. It is a legitimate and dangerous problem in out of the box guns that have been unaltered.

    I am as pro 2a as you can get but this is a legit defect with these guns, I watched a new one do it yesterday on a repeatable level and it had not been modified. They are dangerous and I am trying to find the easiest way to fix mine. I couldn't sell it to anyone in good conscience with it doing that. Correct, she should have been paying attention to the muzzle of the gun but I can easily believe that she didn't touch the trigger.

    there is a vide on this subject about how messing with the trigger mechanism and taking it off safe can fire the gun, don't mess with it and you'll be fine

  • @algierssolja
    @algierssolja 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    You unlaoad a gun in a safe direction. I dont consider my wifes gut a safe direction....unless Im unloading...well you know... Hundreds of acres of open farmland she points the rifle at a shed which she doesn't know whats behind. Gun saftey 101 Know your target, and what is beyond your target. Keep telling yourself you didn't touch the trigger hun. Ill point the gun at only what I plan on destroying loaded or unloaded.

  • @algierssolja
    @algierssolja 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Are there really this many stupid people in the country. They keep talking about all these people who have lost limbs or loved ones. My question is why do you have a loaded fire arm pointing at your wifes abdomen, your own foot or your sons hand? A ricochet slam fire thats Remington fault. A slam fire where you shoot your wife in the gut should be manslaughter. Dude hands his wife a loaded gun and she shoots his son. Thats dudes fault for handing her a loaded rifle. He should have unloaded it.

    Anybody that is going to give me off range firearms advice while fingering a trigger like a 16 year old cheerleader in a high school football locker room is going to go in one ear and straight out the other. Seems like the first thing Democrats do when they pick up a gun is squeeze the trigger. Really? Haven't you guys had enough people accidentally shot like this.

    yes very good point, in that case why pick up a gun? if you cant even touch the safety without it going off.... i ve shot a few different shot guns. 12 and 20 guage, ive shot rifles .22 , .30-30.... non of the guns i used were remington, non of the guns i used discharged with out me PULLING THE TRIGGER.

  • @havinagoodtimefour20
    @havinagoodtimefour20 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    where is your foot? because mine is usually on the ground, where you re supposed to point the weapon while disarming. the gun WAS malfunctioning and when remington did that bullshit job of "trying to right" the problem it did nothing. the shame is what forced remington to change the design weather they let the public know or not is all on their ego. i am safe, which is why i would never purchase any remington. let alone a 700 hundred series.

  • @hansejas000
    @hansejas000 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    NEVER POINT THE GUN AT ANYTHING YOU DON'T INTEND TO DESTROY. That is one of the four rules. It doesn't matter what direction shes turning towards, she obviously had the muzzle directed at the trailer. Did she intend to destroy her trailer? No, of course not. She violated a fundamental tenant of safe gun handling. The boar hunter obviously didn't have his weapon pointed in a safe direction if a discharge (albeit brought on by mechanical failure) blew off his foot. Be safe.

  • @havinagoodtimefour20
    @havinagoodtimefour20 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    no target, she was disarming the gun. the woman didnt point the gun to the trailer she turned toward it, to disarm then place the gun down, (you ve shot before right?). the gun being damaged has little to do with it, they tested the gun and it didnt go off . funny how that worked out (someone at remington wasnt thinking) the boar hunter shot his own foot off, pointing the gun at the ground in a safe manner. they havent a leg to stand on.

  • @hansejas000
    @hansejas000 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    She clearly didn't know her target. Part of knowing your target is knowing what is in front of it and what is behind it (should it not be sufficient to stop a bullet). A rifle bullet has the potential to go through a thin metal trailer wall and kill a person who could possibly be behind it. This is exactly what happened. This woman should not have pointed her rifle at the trailer. Also consider that her Remington 700 may not have been properly cared for. This may not be Remington's fault.

  • @havinagoodtimefour20
    @havinagoodtimefour20 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    sir, the lady wasnt being a moron, she pointed the gun away form her husband who was nearest to her, if she knew the gun was defective im sure she wouldn't be using the thing. thats where remington is wrong. the bullet went through a trailer before hitting the kid, its not like she knew he was there, and she turned herself towards the trailer, im sure going to use it as a place to lay the gun down after unloading it.

  • @hansejas000
    @hansejas000 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've had the same experience, but it's still not a good reason to violate one of the four rules. Would you feel comfortable pointing a loaded gun to your head while you took the safety off or extracted a chambered round? If we're not going to use common sense when handling firearms, we're only going to give the anti's more favorable statistics in their crusade to deprive us of our firearms.

    Purchased a model 700 in 223 back in November . The first time I took it to the range the 4th round it started to not eject. I am waiting on a part from remington now . Rep. Says it sounds like an ejection issues and says it needs a new ejector. Just 4 or five shots it needs a NEW part, the rep. Says things happen .

    if you're about to unload the firearm why would you not have it pointing in a SAFE direction? If you had a firearm that you use and get familiar with; and let's say it was unsafe..... when it misfires noone would get hurt firstly and secondly you could then never buy one ever again. I don't understand how unlucky you would be to have it go off at the exact moment it's not pointing in a safe direction. Probably have a better chance of winning the lottery.

    If the updated Walker design really only cost 5 cents extra per rifle, as suggested in the video, I find it hard to believe that an economic analysis would halt the change, especially seen as they just spent 20 million as you suggest. It would be in there interest to make the rifle safer and not have to fork out 20 million every decade or so.
