Join me on my adventure as I learn about wildlife, as I get out with my camera to photograph some of the wild life we have on offer in UK.
My name is Lee Rolfe, I am a Photographer based in the West Midlands and have recently taken up wildlife photography, here on my TH-cam channel you can follow me as learn about the fascinating subject of wild birds and animals learning their names, identifying them and no doubt making many mistakes along the way! :)
My love of the outdoors and photography will also see me shooting the odd landscape image here and there, more adventures to which I invite you to participate with me.

Wildlife Photography | Little Owls and Woodland Birds at a commercial hide
I continue my journey into wildlife photography, this time spending time photographing woodland birds in a reflection pool hide where I photography a species I have never photographed before.
Later in the afternoon I got the opportunity to spend some time with a juvenile Little Owl followed by an adult.
Wildlife photography and in particular Bird Photography has captured my imagination, if you would like to follow my journey as I learn more about this genre and fascinating subjects please subscribe.

Photographing Kingfishers | Visiting a hide for Wildlife and Bird Photography
มุมมอง 7Kปีที่แล้ว
Join me as I continue my journey into wildlife photography and bird photography. I visited a commercial Kingfisher hide at Brine Pitt Wildlife in the West Midlands. Kingfishers are a bird species that have long captured my imagination often seeing a bright blue flash along the river bank or diving from a perch on the opposite side of a fishing lake. Visiting a commercial hide is a great opportu...

Nice video, thanks for sharing.
Thank you too
Great video, I really enjoyed it.
Glad to hear it!
How do I time it right? I don't have superhuman reflexes, I mean the whole thing takes a split second. Sure, there's some predive head movement, but still, it'll probably take me years to finally capture.
Often kingfishers will jump a little at the beginning of the dive, the good thing about them is they will often visit the same perch to fish many time especially when their young are still around
That shot of him emerging from the water - the wing spread and the water itself, beautiful. Worth the hours of waiting!
Thank you so much I appreciate the kind words
Hi Lee great video and images
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video, and the last two pictures exiting the water are stunning!!!
Thank you very much!
Wonderful video with such cute creatures! Would you like to collaborate with us?
Thank you for reaching out but I’m not quite there with my video making yet, I’m still at the stage of keeping things simple and trying not to do much editing :)
Really nice photos and clips of the little owl 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Nice video... well done!
Thank you 🙏
Juvenile Goldfinch
Thanks
hi it's also amazing to hand hold, I use for wildlife in Spain, where you have to use as they don't wait around for you.
I’ll give it a try 😊
The out of the water image is beautiful ❤
Thank you
Which body and lens plz reply?
Nikon Z6ii. Nikon 200-500 F5.6 with FTZ mkii adapter
Great video ❤
Thank you so much
100% sure juvenile Goldfinch
Thanks 🙏
The "music" is too loud. It makes it very difficult to understand what he is saying.
Thanks for the feedback
That photo when he left the water is outstanding, great job 👏
Thanks Chris!
Stunning kingfisher exiting the water 👌
Thanks 👍I love that shot
Lovely video, those little owl images were great, such a lovely species. A book you might find really really useful is ‘Britain Birds’ second edition, i’ve found it soo useful and factually interesting being a fellow newby to wildlife photography too 👍
Sounds I’ll pick a copy up! Thanks for the tip 😁
Hi Lee, congratulations on your first video. I’m sure you’ll be overjoyed that you’ve taken the plunge into your new wildlife adventure. You certainly have landed on your feet to have what looks to be a great varied location, kingfishers too, what a treat that will be. I see from your Merlin app recording screen you appear to be in my neck of the woods, small world. Look forward to watching your future releases - good luck👍
Thank you I appreciate that, we do have kingfishers there which I’ve photographed now since recording this video, I’ve set up a couple of perches for them, I’m hoping to make a video about the experience
Great job Lee, I enjoyed the video a lot. Subscribed and looking forward to following your journey. Good luck and have fun!
Thank you so much I appreciate it
It looks like a goldfinch
Thanks
Great vid bud, looking forward to more. Those hides are only 55 mins from me, and I'm hoping to get a visit in soon :).
You should definitely give it a try it’s a great place and the hides are nice and comfortable, let me know if you make it over 👍👍
Buy a good tripod and gimbal once and buy quality. Thinner perches for the smaller birds is more appropriate. I have been doing serious amateur bird photography since 2007.
Thanks for the tips!
Great Video - Not only are Bird Guides a great help but also Apps . I can highly recommend Merlin Bird ID… uses AI to identify birds through photos and Even better, bird calls.
Oh yes one other thing….it is for free… from Cornell University in the USA
Great work again Lee! Fantastic stills and footage all round. Identifying the species, is something that will just happen with experience & your interest, so never worry about getting that one wrong and you are doing just fine with it anyway!! ... Great 'coffee flask' by the way, right colour too! 🤣 👏👏👏
Im getting there 😁I’m glad you approve of the flask and colour I was hoping you would do! 😂
Try looking through your right eye and keep your left eye open and see if you see the difference
I can’t look through the camera with my right eye I am short sighted in it and very left eye dominant.
Good 💖📷📷📷📷📷📷☄☄☄☄☄🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🤗💖☔🤗
Thanks
Awesome Lee!! ❤
Thank you!! 😁
Great video, interesting and very informative.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Another nice video Lee and yes a couple of Goldfinch juvenile shots and what looked like a Greenfinch youngster too on the feeder facing you, some lovely Little Owl footage and photos, I look forward to your next trip out 👍📷🦅
Thank you Terry, at one point there was a juvenile Greenfinch and Juvenile Goldfinch on the feeder at the same time, seeing them side by side I could see the difference between them in colour and size, I just wasn’t quick enough to capture them, thank you again for the kind words.
You’re welcome Lee, the manner you put these videos over is very relaxing and your honesty about learning is very refreshing, keep up the good work and thanks for your likes on my IG photos 👍🦅📷
I think there was a great tit in the video, but he was sat in the Hyde 🤪 great video Rolfey, always look forward to seeing what you're up to 🫶🏻
😂
Very nice vid Lee thank you for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it
Wow so beautiful photos Thanks for letting us all tag along on this through your video
My pleasure 😊
Cool stuff Lee. Those hides were pretty cool. Pictures were good too. I'm a new wildlife photographer myself.
Yes they are!
Well done; another great start to your journey! Love the black and white images of the Little Owl.
Than you
The owl pics are fantastic !
Glad you like them!
Great start to your future adventures in world of wildlife photography - keep it up!
Thank you I appreciate it, I’m really enjoying. It so far
Great shots mate. What camera and lens did you use?
Thanks! All of the photos in the video are shot with a Nikon Z6ii and Nikon 200-500mm 👍
@@leerolfe nice mate!
Sei ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you 🙏
I went to a spot with a blind. Notice said no one but staff were allowed to fill the feeders and the feeders are only filled during the winter. Pretty disappointing adventure. So far I've managed to get one reflexive shot of a buzzard flying overhead and that's it. I've walked around lakes and not seen a single duck. I saw something with long legs and a long neck, maybe a heron, but it was way out of range. The struggle is real.
The struggle is definitely real! Keep persevering and I’m it will all come good for you 👍
Good luck on your wildlife journey. Study the subjects you want to photograph and constantly keep your eyes open for surprises.
Thanks for the tips! I'm really enjoying my self so far.
Wow such beautiful photos the one of the kingfisher coming up from the water was so amazing and what a great place to be able to go to like that
Thank you so much, it’s a wonderful place and dose make things very comfortable
Your excitement is beaming through the video What a great video
Thank you, I’m genuinely having so much fun learning about wildlife
