Perhaps it was originally due to the fact that he sold his land and gave the proceeds to the disciples. Initially he wanted to give anonymously, but the disciples convinced it to give it openly as an example of giving to the cause. He encouraged. God bless

Kevin, Every human bring is living his or her life as a fruit bearing tree yes, but the big Question is which tree, The tree of life or the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The good book say's there are only two way's and the two way's are of the two Covenants, The Old Covenant of Laws and regulation that bring forth a mixture of good and bad fruit, a divided way that can not stand and that is not acceptable, the Pharisees way, and the New Covenant way of Pure Grace and Faith given by The Spirit of God on the inside. The first one, Laws written on paper with ink given to Moses that could not be keep.as in a written book. The New Covenant of Grace through God's Faith and power to live the Godly life is written within, on the heart, not on tablets of the EGO stone heart. To me the best way to understand Grace and Faith is to look at Faith as the masculine seed or semen penetrating the feminine Egg of Grace in order to bring forth Godly off spring who will produce Good fruit every time. The Fruit of the Spirit of Grace through Faith as apposed to the Fruit of the Old Covenant of Laws and Rituals that will kill you as in Galatians Chapter 5. Titus 2:10-15 & 3:5 Say's that to adorn the single doctrine of Grace will bring salvation to the Soul and that Grace cannot come by the works of the Old Covenant Law's. 22 times in Ezekiel Chapter 36 God say's what he would do with out any help from men because he is a loving and Gracious Creator not willing that any of his creation should perish. 2 Peter 3:9 Grace thru Faith is the Mystery the Apostle Paul was sent to reveal to the whole Earth, a mystery that had been hidden from the foundation of the earth. Colossians 1:26-27 & Romans 16:25 That MYSTERY is MY-STORY - MY- MISSED STORY of Christ Jesus living in me who brings The Gift of Freedom from the O.T. Laws into a New and living way of liberty by the indwelling Spirit that gives man the Mind and spirit of Jesus manifesting his Faith and love in you. Thank you for allowing me to comment and may we all GROW IN grace through the knowledge of Christ Jesus AMEN..

My Dear Brother Kevin, Having been a member of the Church of Christ for over 35 years I have heard this saying often, If I am wrong prove it to be from the Bible. In Godly Love I hope you will consider what I present to you from the bible only as the truth concerning the phase on the first day of the week. We know the new testament was written in Greek and if you read Greek or knows someone who does please have them read the phase to you in Greek. The phase is found 8 times in the New Testament and each time in Greek it reads On the one of Weeks in the Greek. Please notice in the K.J.V. the word Day is added and when you read it with out the word day hear is how it reads, on the first or one of weeks in Greek. Jesus was fulfilling the Feast day's of ISRAEL in order to keep the O.T. Law perfectly Starting with The feast of Unleavened bread, then Passover, then Feast of first fruit, which came on the first Day of the Feast of weeks which was called Pentecost in Greek, meaning 50th. On that First day after the Passover Sabbath Two observances took place, the First Fruit and the Count of seven weeks to Pentecost. Each of the 8 times the Phase is used it pertains to the count of weeks to the 50th as commanded in the O.T. Law. By using the Bible only read with me Deuteronomy 16:9-10 & 16: 16-17 and Leviticus 23:15-16 The universal Roman Church missed translated on purpose the plural Greek word weeks to the singular English word week for a very good reason. In the New Covenant of Spirit and Truth there is no Certain Day, Sunday, no certain Place, a Building made with mans hands, or a certain Man made ritual to be performed once a week'. In the New Covenant every Day is a day of Worship because every Disciple or Disciplined one is Himself a Royal Priest, a Holy Temple made by God to offer himself as a living sacrifice ever day in every Way, the true way of Matthew chapter 7. Romans 12:1-3 If you will look again at Acts 20:7 and verse 16 you will notice the goal was Pentecost and 1st Cor. 16:1-2 and 16:8 you will notice once again the goal was Pentecost. Remember what it said in Deut. 16:16-17 about the free will offering that was to be given 3 times a year on the 3 Feasts of ISRAEL. Most Christians sing a song taken from Psalms 118:22-24 and fail to realize it is the New Covenant song of freedom because of the free gift Of God 's Grace and Faith. This is the day the LORD has made and I will rejoice in it. The new Covenant single Day is the 8th eternal day of the Lord and has no ending. That Day started when the Christ Spirit and mind was poured out onto the called out ones, the Disciplined ones, into a New and Living Covenant as Promised in Jeremiah 32:40-41 & Ezekiel 37:26-28. The only Worship I have found in the New Covenant takes place every day beginning with your thoughts, your spoken words and how you manifest your actions to a lost and dead world. The foundation of the New Covenant is once again found in Romans 12:1-3. All God ever wanted was for every person to offer his or her beastly fallen nature as a living sacrifice continuously as his reasonable Priestly service unto the LORD. It is when we stop Believing and start Knowing freedom from the Laws that bring suffering and finally death not only to the body but to the Soul and Spirit. Paul said I know in whom I believe and am persuaded He is able . the resurrected Abel from the dead, to keep all that I commit unto him. May we all this year 2020 seek perfect vision and diligently desire to be filled with all Spiritual Wisdom and Understanding in the knowledge of who Christ Jesus is and who we are in relation to him. GRACE, Mercy and Loving peace to you always. AMEN
