My Farm Dogs Need A New Home..
มุมมอง 1.3Kปีที่แล้ว
Building A Dog House For My Farm Dogs Today I built a dog house for my farm dogs. I try to use recycled materials whenever I can so this dog house is made almost entirely of old wooden pallets. This dog house made of wood pallets & recycled material will be on our land next to our shipping container tiny home. Let me know what else y'all want to see on my new homestead, thanks for watching!
Building A CHEAP & BEGINNER Raised Garden Bed

Building A CHEAP & BEGINNER Raised Garden Bed In this video, I attempt to build a beginner raised garden bed that's both cheap & creative. The materials for this vegetable garden costs ~$100. This is our first attempt at sustainable off the grid living in our homestead. Hope you enjoy!
Inside A $40,000 Container Home

Inside A $40,000 Container Home This fall, my wife & I moved into our fully finished out shipping container tiny home. This build was roughly ~$40,000 & has everything we need to slowly start living simply on our 12 acres of land in East Texas. Welcome to Lucky Star Acres.
All these things sound like they would/should have been obvious before even making the purchase. It's like "the problem with my car is; it runs out of fuel." If only I had known.
Surely you considered things about the liveable space and the effects of where you put your home. Add a container or small cabin and put a roof between them, we did that. Problem solved.
I think that you are just whinging. Of course you can't put heaps of people inside and the aircon doesn't go through doors! Maybe look at the foundations and close up under the container. I would get snakes under it in Australia. The cobwebs come and see mine. To brush off the cobwebs on your door would take 5 mins. Perhaps spray with a surface spray that keeps spiders at bay. I would say you are one lucky man!
In the UK, we have something called the "kill zone". 150mm at the edge of walls, ceilings and floors are reserved for power cables. Don't screw into that area. To provide sockets, the power is vertical from the floor or ceiling rather than horizontal. Although legal, a horizontal power cable is a risk. When I run pipework, I tend to follow the same theory, to follow the contours of the house. I would have thought that the builders would have provided you with a cable and pipework diagram as a guide.
I have no family, and I am over-housed. While container is not allowed locally, a small or tiny house is an alternative for the shortage of affordable senior housing. One trick about space under home is steel netting partially buried. It keeps skunks, rabbits, cats, etc out and we put a sonic repellant under our trailer to rid us of rats, mice, etc.
I can't live without ac
Brother that coffee looked terrible. I'm sorry. 😅 I know that's rude. But as a Cuban, I felt personally attacked.
You could use those swing doors to make a netted patio
That place is just too dang small. Why live in a cracker box? Somebody farts and the whole place is a gas chamber.
GOOD GOD, MAN! There's your problem right there! The coffee is weak as gnat's pee! Put another couple of spoons into the press for goodness sakes!
You wish you knew that there wouldn’t be room for guest?!
Some of these problems are not specifically container homer related. You can make a 2-3 container home and solve half of the problems. This should be titled "the harsh reality of living in a 1-container home".
Appreciate the video but also….these are things you know beforehand and/or occur in a regular house too…just maybe more of a reminder than revelations 👍🏻
So basically you figured out that your not the type of people who can live a tiny lifestyle, l so obvious lol
Tile sucks
Basically you did not plan properly for your needs.
Wanker Just complaining honestly
You’re using the wrong filter for the Chemex my man. Get the Chemex branded ones and you’ll notice a difference
gopher
Thanks for sharing! I'm thinking about building one myself. Would probably add another one on top it, or side by side considering your experience.
Thank you for the downsides of owning a container for a home. I will keep those in mind if I buy one.
Thank you for sharing. I would like to have one of these homes.
Why not putting a second container of 40 feet parallel putting on or placing beside of it? Then you have two additional rooms. You can also change the layout and getting some private space in that case. And you can add a veranda or place a sunscreen when the weather is not good. So far my solution not knowing the rules or lack of knowledge of (technical) details or the situation.
prof positive you cant fix stupid ......wow!
I'm designing mine with a minimum of 3 containers and may add additional
Gopher and spider webs are issues wherever you live it has nothing to with the container .
Thanks for sharing your experience and wisdom.
This video sucks. Thanks for the common sense. 😂😂😂
So almost every issue you mentioned is an obvious fact of life living in a tiny home, and not necessarily a shipping container. Like did you really expect there to be room for guests? Geeze. The one thing you mentioned that is, is the cell phone reception. That was a good point, amd the plumbing being close to the inner wall is something you should be aware of in any home, but yeah, if it’s spray foamed and only a couple inches thick, you gotta be more careful, but any small home with spray foam insulation will probably be the same. Gofers, insects, junk accumulating in spots etc….is just living in the country. We’ve built multi million dollar homes and theyve settled. Our plaster guy jokes that a new home is almost a guaranteed job for life. Sorry you’re struggling a little, but it’s all obvious stuff.
hope u can build a wooden structure next to the shipping container to get more room
Just saw your year later video about the short comings. Evenjust for me, I would have at least three containors. One on each side and one mounted above it. Or the three arrangeged on the ground with some garage roofing between two and maybe an outside patio between the house one container. One container for say laundry and a soare room or bedroom for guests, ine for my house and ine for a garage storage area for tools. Put all thenice effort into thehome and the spare room/laundry. The third can just be garage typeuse for tools and storage. It seems like the home would be the most expensive, but the others can be done inexpensively and the roofs between them as needed. Then a year diwn the road after the mainhome, you would have a nice compound. I can easily do that on 1 to 2 acreas with farm animals. So a property your size should be easy. Just my 2 cents, maybe 3 cents.
Let's just say if you like to entertain small living is not for you lol
Just have someone build a barndominium. Get the housing done, electrical, plumbing and frame it out. Then drywall it yourself or find someone. Then finish the rest. Cutting the containers and merging them also cost money and possibly opens the dooor for leaks.
I just dont get the container home thing??? Never have and I am a builder always looking for value. This is not value. Its not cheaper to build, less flexibility, kida scamish if you ask me.
Thank you for honest appraisal of your container home.
Expand with another shipping container connected to it
Not enough space? If you weren't nearly the size of 3 people, you would have some more space in it
Cuánto cuesta español
Even in a regular house, the corners in a tile shower should be caulked. Caulk can be bought to match any color of grout.
Just add another container to make your home alittle larger.
On the space, every time Ive thought about container homes i think to set it up to eventually add more till four of em line up for width at least. the rest is just design and planning for time.
So no tile in bath, that sounds honestly like a great tip, the wires, plumbing etc sounds like something to consider while constructing the house I live in a space thats smaller than a 40ft shipping container, most of my things can live outside in another shipping container (storage and or woodshop) And the gopher can be a food source 😉
I am subscribed too enough channels. But this is interesting
Would it be better to build on a flat concrete surface versus pilons? I wouldn't want to have creatures living under my home.
Paint the outside a lighter color. Create a whole canopy over the top to shade home and upper deck. Buy another shipping container for storage. Take out wall between kitchen and living room. I keep interior as just one room with no dividers. Have had five people inside for weekend. Everyone brings the cot or type bed they enjoy sleeping on. Have tent options if they like. Animals living under container does not harm container. There is no running water inside my unit. All bathing and showering is done outside. Summer kitchen, some of what you have going on with the smoker is great. Build a screened in porch to make for more living space. Friends and relatives will evolve with your situation, my grandmother lived in a tiny home her whole life and had a mass of grand kids. You can always add on to what you have. Good of you to post what reality turned out for you both. Will stick to my $6.15 a pound woodstove frying pan roasted coffee. Green beans never go bad. Mice and bushy tail wood rats are so bad here I have to park inside a shipping container every night to prevent wiring from being eaten.
A lot of folks would be glad to just have a small home.
Most of the problems looks like isn't about the shipping container house, but the construction, your options and the shores around the house 😂😂
Good value video. Thank you. Best wishes 🥰
Sad to say, but many new houses settle and have cracks.
Some of that is your stopping construction. You can build a covered patio. You should have re enforced the bottom runners.a second container would give you an other 8 feet in with. Or make 2 8 x 20 guest rooms. Use a grill when you can. And get camping equipment. Tents are ok even in rain and if you build a covered patio , you can put them up next to it . I am not talking about small tents , but family sized tents. Cots , pads and stuff. Also you can lay shipping blankets on the floor, it will be comfortable.
