But what cutting/trimming tool is he using and what's its maximum reach and how can you safely use it high up on a ladder given that you need both hands to operate it? This is obviously an easy job if you're standing on the ground and have spent a long time and a lot of money getting the right tool for the job. So what if the densely-leaved tree is much taller and wider than this one? How do you lean the top of a 20-foot ladder against a very thickly-leaved 25 foot tall, 20 foot wide conifer for instance? That's the real challenge - but it wouldn't be a challenge if there were far more tree-cutting companies or outfits around with hydraulic platform boom lifts who can radically trim down any wildly overgrown tree in a tiny fraction of the time it takes using ladders - and far more safely of course. And with a boom lift just one person can safely and quickly do the job - you don't need anyone to hold onto the ladder to help prevent it from slipping or twisting round etc. Paul G
