My Power Line Exploded! Lines Burn Through and Fall to the Ground.

A branch across the lines became conductive in freezing rain shorting out the power lines causing them to burn through, arch, and fall to the ground. I recommend watching the entire video for full effect as it starts slow and builds up to them blowing apart, but if you want to skip to the main event it is at 2:25.

I was driving on i80 on this day about 20 miles south of chicago in east hazel crest. (on my road trip from Vermont to Colorado). At around 6:30 pm i was driving and all of the sudden it just started POUNDING rain. Traffic on i80 slowed from 70-80mph to 5-10mph instantly. I almost got rear ended by a semi truck and it was raining so hard i couldn’t see the cars all around me or 10 feet in front of me. I thought my windshield was going to break. Scariest experience i’ve ever had driving i’d say. The sound of the rain on my roof was eerie.

Me too. I was hoping an animal would make an appearance for the live stream. There is a bunny that likes to hang out under the shrub. But no luck this time.
