I used to be sad, depressed, overweight and the only way I felt okay was to drink alcohol, eat junk food, smoke, gamble, in fact anything that would help me escape life.
Every time I tried to change and be more happy and successful I would lose motivation and discipline really quickly and give up.
After a few rock bottom moments I went and got help: Firstly I saw a psychiatrist and since then I use therapists, mentors and coaches to help me turn my life around.
Couldn't do it without them!
So far I've left behind: crime, alcohol, dishonesty, gambling and I've lost 60lb.
I've gained: 3 small businesses and got stronger & fitter (works in progress!)
I'm becoming more: honest, clean, strong, dependable.
Sober: 4 years 7 months (I used to drink 130 units of alcohol per week).
Quit gambling: March 2017
Lost 60lb: 2016-2018 (kept it off since)
I help people to turn their life around too - "if I can you can"!
Still so much to learn...

My Productivity Increased 100x When I Fixed My Morning Routine (b/c Dopamine!)
I used to think morning routines were all hype - wouldn't work for me!
Even when I tried it I wouldn't keep it going for long.
But once I understood HOW they work (dopamine) I had to give it another go...

Hi Andrew! Keep going amigo!
Hello mate. I'm going through a similar experience. Only have started realising that I'm adhd since my daughters been diagnosed with autism. I've been thinking different things but coming to the conclusion that getting a diagnosis is necessary for me partly like you said to know why my experiences have been the way they were and also I'm thinking about trying the medications that some people have big benefits from. I also watched your video on addiction, addiction and adhd are a common theme something which I have/am dealing with too. All the best 👍.
Hi mate! Thanks for commenting! Yeah it sounds like you are driven to get a diagnosis too then. Keep me informed what you do and how the process goes for you? Best wishes to you and your daughter!
Thanks so much for sharing this story with us. I felt like it was from the heart.

Hello Finally Thriving, I analyzed your TH-cam channel and found that you are doing something wrong in uploading your videos and that's why your TH-cam channel does not rank on the top search results.
Hi Chris, so sorry to hear your story but I think you have achieved so much by pulling yourself out and facing each day positively, that takes tremendous strength. Stay focused and don’t let the negative back in 🩷💕🩷
@@jeanne9983 thanks a million Jeanne that means a lot 🥰
Your not a shit man mate your a good man , your trying to put yourself right (as am I ) it’s hard but you /we will get there 😊💪
@@ianmoules7635 yeah that's true amigo, as long as we're moving in the right it's doing what we can do right now eh. 🤝
Hello, sorry to hear this. It's good that you're sort of ok just now. Obviously I don't know you or your predicament, but you've managed to pull yourself together, so a clap on the back for that. To be honest, I think I'm at rock bottom just now. Trying to figure a way through the mire that's surrounding me. But, resilience and faith, has kept me going. Keep up the good work. Good that you have good friends. They are priceless.
Thanks for the kind words ❤ I think there's a level of suffering where we just can't take anymore of our own s**t 😮 Keep going yourself too 👏

Great job on a tough course.
You are YERY kind, thanks amigo!
Congratulations! One of the few videos where you work through the anatomical relationships. As Dr. Romanov would say, what is the perception - understanding the perception while standing in poses different than what actually occurs while running... The other thing is particular parts of your body that affect you overall relationship top to bottom - especially your core strength determining what feels natural. I found Pilates to be quite interesting in that regard for synthesis on the head, the neck, the spine. And also Dr. R's drills and training. Feel your body in linea while you're jump roping, for instance
Thanks! I'm still trying to improve this 6 months in! You are right, pilates and core has helped me too. Are you a keen runner? (I'm still very much a beginner)
Good tips, will follow.
Thanks! Good luck and best wishes 🙏
Cheers!
Cheers amigo!
Nice job! Keep improving!
Thanks GTG! I'll be trying my best! Just done rowing machine and exercise bike this week so far as Achilles/calf area is a bit sore.
Keep at it 💪
Thanks for the support Lorcan! I'm on the case! 💪

Hope the pain is just the readjustment and it goes away soon.
Hi Evan! 48 hours have passed now and it seems to have gone. Hopefully it was a small response to the changes still adapting to the orthotics. I walked 6 miles yesterday (golf) and it was okay. Feeling good this morning so if it stays okay all day I might go out later and get some time in. Best wishes.
@@justchrislloyd Good to hear
Congrats. You're the first person I've seen on TH-cam talking about dealing with leg imbalance and stuff like that. Great.
Thanks Evan, good to hear from you Sir. Maybe I could explain more do you think? Chris.
@@justchrislloyd Yes, a bit more may help.
Great to see this video Chris. Well done on your first jog / walk and keeping your intensity under control. I totally recognize the emotions coming into play when getting back at it again, appreciating being outside. Your running and health journey can be such a rollercoaster. If it was easy everyone would be doing it. Like Jerzy Gregorek wrote “Easy choices, hard life. Hard choices, easy life." It’s beautiful out there, enjoy your country side runs and walks.
Thanks for the encouragement Floris 🙌
Interesting to hear some positive experience with knees over toes.
Hi Evan , how are you. Yes, that is going well so far and I had good results with it around 10 years ago. It makes sense to me that we should get strong over full range of motion (rather than ridiculously strong over half the range of motion). Best wishes.
Thanks Chris. Very much appreciate your honesty and the level of detail.
Hey Evan, how are ya? Always my pleasure 😍
Good to hear this. Most of the stuff on MAF is by fit young people. I'm 62 and on diabetes medication so my numbers are 98-108. So slow to moderate walking. Thanks for this.
Hi Evan! I'm already sure this is going to work for you! Well, okay, 99% sure lol. I just feel so much better already and it's going into other areas of my life too. I got a tiny achilles injury last week (no idea how) so I am protecting it like a new born baby (I would never have done this in the past). Maybe will run/walk later as it could be gone. Best wishes, thanks for the feedback!
Good stuff. I'm about to get started with MAF training myself. Best of luck with your running.
Good luck Mark. I've been using it for 4 weeks now and getting better and better for sure!
Greetings. I’m definitely not a runner. It has never felt pleasurable. I’m 68, train in the gym, deadlift 70kg, squat 50kg, walk 5 kms 3-4 times per week. Discovered MAF yesterday. Haven’t yet learned how many times per week or distances?? Half way through the free on-line book from MAF website, watched your videos. That’s all I know. Thought I’d start this morning doing my usual 5kg walk, monitoring my heart rate. I’m guessing that my MAF experience will mimic yours and am grateful for your frank descriptions.
That's fantastic - good for you! I am having to walk quite a lot (more than run I guess!) to keep my heart rate below my 125bpm but it is already getting way better. I did 4 hours of training last week including my warms and cool downs (I am going by time rather than distance as advised PLUS it seems to put less unwanted pressure on me). I am hoping to add 15 minutes on to that this week but I have very mild quad soreness today and will consider resting - something I would never have done before which is why I always resented it I guess 🤣 Keep in touch Toni, good luck! 👍
@@justchrislloyd my first attempt today was terrible. I had to walk the entire time and had no idea how difficult it was to stay within 102-112. My usual 55 minutes walk took instead 75 minutes and I felt quite tired afterwards. Felt I unfit and lazy. All the while I was thinking about your first experience and found it very helpful, thank you. I’m going to try tomorrow to train in the gym on rower/ elliptical/ stationary bike so I can increase my training hours in a controlled environment. Thank you for your interest.
@@tonilampard8794 oh yes, that sounds very much like me... I think I walked around 80% of my first time. I think this can only be really good for our heart and aerobic fitness... onwards and upwards for us now Toni 🤩
Thank you from Australia
Hi Toni! Are you a beginner runner like me? Or an established pro!? 🤝
Hello ! I started a MAF journey at age 40 last year. It’s wonderful because we get big gains when your starting point is terrible
Hi MR! That's awesome! I'm excited to see how much improvement comes from this (it can't get any worse 😆).
Nice, honest video - thanks. Are you using a chest HR monitor? They're more reliable than the wrist one in your garmin.
Hi Amanda! Yes, I bought the Garmin HRM Dual last week - it's great! I also just found out I can get my watch to update heart rate "every second" instead of using a smart setting that saves battery. Thanks for great feedback ❤
