Hello and welcome!
My plan is to dedicate this channel mostly to fountain pens, drawing with ink and showcasing the fountain pens that I make.
From time to time I might also have some fun with dip pens, pencils, and or even ballpoint pens if I get the opportunity to do so - but my main focus will be drawing with fountain pens or making fountain pens.
I am planning to upload at least 1 video per week, specifically on Saturday at 12:00 pm EST.
GIVEAWAY
Planning to do giveaways with the fountain pens that I am making whenever I will be reaching 1000 subscribers. So please subscribe if you want to have the chance of winning one of my fountain pens.
If you need to contact me, please see the "Channel details" section below and click on the "View email address" button.
Thank you and I wish you a wonderful day or night, wherever you are!

Pilot Metropolitan Cocoon fountain pen
Beautiful pen. I like the new format. Enough info and then on to the application. The drawing looks great. Reminds me of a horror movie cover. There's a good story there somewhere. Love how it vignettes into the foreground as well. I try to do things like that on occasion but I'm not always successful. Nice work!
Thanks Pete! I guess this is the case of "a face only a mother would love". I have a few people saying is terrifying. I need someone to start writing stories for my drawings - I'm not the best with words :(. I appreciate the support and always happy to hear you enjoyed it! :)
@@eugenborcan It also reminds me of a King Crimson album cover. I'm sure there is someone out there who could put a story to these creatures. 👍🏻
Oh wow, that is an interesting cover - might spark some ideas in the future. Thanks!
I'm buying one👍
Hope you will like it!
That’s a beautiful pen.
Indeed it is! :)
Oh that is a beautiful pen. Another Moonman, my list is getting too long. 😂 I do love that you show some pen details and any quirks they may have. But the best part is that you show what I want to see and that is how the pen works for drawing. I really enjoyed this character. I'm glad you are enjoying creating these as much as we enjoy watching you create these. Play with the format as much as you need to, to find your groove. It's as much a part of your creativity as the drawing. 👍🏻
Thanks Pete - I am happy to hear you enjoy these creatures. Yep, I am going to focus more on the drawing aspect, not really the "review" part. In the end that is why I am using them (the fountain pens) - to try and create art :).
I really love the looks of that pen. Thank you for sharing your drawings. Hang in there!!!
Thank you!
That is a fun-looking pen. I wish it was a little fatter but that's ok. That's a beautiful black ink also. That paper is definitely not for everyone but I enjoy it. Beautiful drawing. Nice work as always. Put these pages together into a book and you'd have a book of creatures and living objects to baffle the imagination. Complete with aged paper to make it look like an ancient text. 👍
Thank you Pete! I have like a binder where I am storing all these. I'm really curious how far I am going to go with them... so far, really loving it.
Nice sketch. The pen looks like a metallic E95S. I think I'd end up using a cartridge in it and refilling that, if I needed more ink. Nice paper, too.
Yep, they are pretty much in the same family of pocket fountain pens. Yes, most probably an ink cartridge would hold more ink but I do like these converters to be honest. Thank you!
Cool drawing. Looks like its mad LOL.
Thanks - a little .
Do you still have that pen? Do you know if it's possible to eyedrop it?
I still have the pen. Not ideal for eyedroping it - I think it might leak around the barrel window.
@@eugenborcan OK, Thank you! It would be nice if it was made to be able to eyedropped though, with that window. It has ergonomical design.
@@nikossiotas NP - yes, it would be nice with that window. Maybe you can find a way to seal it!? Not sure...
The classic, the og top tier Chinese pen that succeeded where Parker faltered. Love the gold trims of these. I have so many 601s😂😂😂
I thought that was the Hero line? Is WingSung more popular than Hero? The 601s are hard to resist to, I have a few of them as well .
@@eugenborcan I meant the 51 vaccumatic that the 601 succeed and improved upon for a fraction of what the 51 vaccumatic would cost.
@@unknowncrash1 Yep, you are right on that one.
Nice looking pen. I'd be a little concerned of how smooth it is toward the tip but I'd probably get along with it. The drawing was fun. A nice take on a genie monster popping out of a loot box. Nice work!
Yeah, in the end is just a matter of getting use to it. Thanks Pete!
Oh man!!!! That paper kicks ASS!!!! I am looking forward to you using your grail pen upon it fo' sure! 👉🎖👈
That paper definitely has some character to it! Hope you will enjoy the next one as well! :).
I had that pen in my cart several times but, never pulled the trigger. I prefer cartridge or converter fillers as I tend to change inks often. Would you recommend that pen? Great review and drawing as usual.
I have 3 versions of the 601 and honestly I wasn't ever really disappointed until this one when I had to replace the filling mechanism. There are pretty cool little things to use but as any Chinese fountain pen, there is always the chance of getting a dud. But even this one after I fixed it works without any issues. Don't get the fancy cap, more expensive version... you aren't missing on anything. Unless you really want that golden cap.
😇💜🙏🙌
❤
Really love this drawing, my friend. Incredible.
Thanks Dean - I appreciate that! :)
No problem. This is one of my favorite papers. It's very different but it's fun to use. I understand what you're saying. It's almost like you can shade and add extra texture with your pen like you would with pencil. That drawing has a very expressive face. There's a story there for sure. Nice work! 👍🏻
Thanks Pete :). There is a story for sure... just don't know how to tell it :D.
I own the light colored one (Walnut), its a great pen for the money. Sound is good. Stereo LOL.
Definitely a great fountain pen! Glad to hear I come clear and loud on that side... well, both sides :D.
It's a good pen for the money... Comfortable and you can replace the nib if you like.
That is true - the newer versions in stabilized wood are pretty eye catchers as well.
Does the pen cap trims have some rust mark / spots or paint losing marks?
No rust just weared down trim parts.
Beautiful work, as always! If you don't mind sharing, where do you source the metal nib holder portion? I haven't had the best luck with finding somewhere to get them, but I've wanted to do some dip pens for a while myself.
Thank you! I honestly got them from eBay - did a search for them some time ago and just ordered from the first one I have found. I did a quick search and found this as the first one: www.ebay.ca/itm/295704639168?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=Tewhg1ufSXy&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=i9qvUtuWRpO&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Oh, I appreciate the love sir. I missed your last video, i didn't get notified so I'll have to go back to see that one. Those pens look beautiful. You have an inventors mind my friend. I know that paper can be a little soft so when I saw you pull it out for a dip pen, I thought you would tear it up more than you did. Yes, the fountain pen is definitely the way to go with this paper, especially a wider nib like a medium. I do love to use it though. There is a "feeling" to it like I'm working on really old paper. In the end the drawing looks really good on that paper and you got a lot of detail in there. Nice work.
Thank you Pete - glad to hear you enjoyed it :). Yeah is an interesting paper and I think I will stick with it for a while and see what I can get from it. I know the feeling you are talking about... it honestly feel like I am drawing on a T-shirt :D.
@@eugenborcan 😂 a very old T-shirt that has been washed about 1000 times.
Something like that, yeah! :D
Super cool pens, the green is my favorite.
Thank you!
My d00d, these are incredible! Im gonna be placing an order with you🔥 Also, my favorite sketch journal is made with that deckled edge paper. It's cotton rag and it's my favorite. The journal is green leather. Made by Leather Village. 👑
Thanks Dean - appreciate the support! ❤. I have seen those journals, they look interesting. This paper is new to me, I'll try it out for a while and see how things evolve.
It's beautiful but.... looks like too small
Depending on your hand size, yes it could be a little smaller unposted. But posted is actually a pretty decent size.
I'm curious what tool you used to square up the ends of your blanks. It looks like some sort of a mill.
Is a pen barrel trimmer kit that I got on Amazon.
@eugenborcan does it leave the center proud. I'm assuming you mean a standard barrel trimmer. If not can you link please.
There is a little bit of a nipple as you trim down but it can be easily removed. I have a link - no affiliation: a.co/d/hwhLic5
Thank you for this great video! What I personally find very unfortunate about these "new" N° #8 nibs from HongDian is that they simply give me too much feedback in the direction of a hard pencil. On the other hand, these nibs are simply top in terms of "bounce". And also that it is possible to create a little line variation with them. Overall, however, the nib in the HongDian N10 did not suit my taste, so I decided not to buy the N11 at all. Even the most beautiful fountain pen ultimately stands or falls with the nib it has.
You are absolutely right - not everything will fit us the best and that is OK .
Im a Hongdian pen fan. Well worth the cost IMO. Nice drawing.
They rarely disappoint. Thanks!
The N7 is currently my favorite pen to draw with. This looks nice; it's going to the top of my list. I enjoyed this one. It's a tree creature crossed with the Grinch. It's definitely a Dr. Seuss character. 😂 I can't wait to see what next week brings.
Thanks Pete. I guess there are some similarities between my style and what I do in some of these scribbles. Some people on Reddit have seen an Ent tree. You particularly might find the video from next week kind of funny at least - so stay tunned if you can.
Nice scribble as always.
Thank you!
Great pen...Love the ink and your drawing is 💎
Thank you!
Nice review. I have the Waterman Expert mechanical pencil and the rollerball, love both of them. The fountain pen is next for me.
That will make the set complete :).
I've wanted a Waterman for a while now. This one may go on the list. It seemed effortless to write with. Unfortunately, I'm not too fond of standard blue ink and I think it did a disservice to your drawing. If the ink was darker like the black, dark green, or brown ink you sometimes use, then I think the contrast would make it pop a little more. I did like the drawing overall. Nice work!
If there is an Waterman that is worth trying, this would be it - pretty well built based on what I have. Thanks Pete!
Great review. That is an elegant pen, I love the slanted detail on the cap. Was tempted to buy it but didn't happen just yet.
I love that detail on the cap as well - it fits the pen very well in my opinion. When the time is right it will happen, nu rush there :).
The same pen is sold under the name WRITECH Retractable Fountain Pen.
Thanks - it looks like it goes under a few names out there.
Someone told me that the brand and model of the fountain pen seems to be: "Dianshi ds784".
Looks like a nice pen. Too bad it probably only ises proprietary cartridges. I also usually take off the clip if i can and im not crazy about capless pens for the reason you listed. The drawing was great as usual. I really like that ink. Nice work! 👍🏻
Thanks Pete! Yeah, surprisingly Karkos makes some nice inks and for very cheap - around $1 CAD for a 30ml bottle (not including shipping).
@@eugenborcan That's awesome! I need to look into them.
I have the Oaso in my cart but did not pull the trigger just yet. They look very similar. Great drawing.
That's an interesting one as well. I have it but did not got around to play with it yet. Is somewhere in a drawer... somewhere...
I love the drawing ❤
Thank you!
The pen isn't my favorite but I'm just so picky. 😂 That carbon ink is my favorite black ink for my fountain pens. Some people have claimed that they have problems with it but I've never had a days trouble with it and sometimes I leave it a pen I haven't touched in months. I feel bad for the sad monster you drew but I do like the subtle use of color mixed in. Nice work! 👍
Yep, Platinum Carbon ink is pretty good stuff and as close as it can get to permanent. The only problem I had is that it tends to stain a little pens that are lighter in color and they are made out of resin. Other than that, no issues with it on this side either. Don't feel bad about the little guy - he (she!?) is actually quite happy - had one too many beers before "the portrait" was taken . Thanks Pete!
Looks like a nice pen. I'm not particularly fond of hooded nibs as ink can get stuck there, but perhaps less an issue if filling the converter with a syringe or using cartridges.
I thought about it for a little and realized that maybe even in that case - when you have ink between nib and inside of the hood - is not a big issue. That hood will act as a basic overfeed... and the nib will "consume" the ink. Worth the try maybe... overall though, definitely not a bad fountain pen.
Good looking pen, also affordable. Would you recommend it? Nice drawing. To me it resembles a Tim Burton caracter.
I like it... and my copy seems to be working as intended. So based on that I definitely can recommend it. Just remember, like all Chinese pens you could get unlucky sometimes. A lot of people say some of my drawings reminds them of Tim's work. I guess maybe there is something in me from him :). Thanks!
@@eugenborcan Ill give it a try $10 is not a big investment. Thank you for the reply.
Anytime buddy!
amazing that you were able to create a working cap !!!! The feed I think you can buy aftermarket feed for the Montblanc, not sure. Been able to 3D print parts for this pen is amazing, so people that have this pen or other similar can 3D print parts for it. Thank you !!!!
Thank you - hope it was helpful :)!
did you manage to re-create the feed ???
Did not got a chance to work on the feed. Still planning to do it at one point in time... just don't know when. My goal was to build my fountain pen eventually, but since then I decided on an entire new approach - making my own blanks and turning.
@@eugenborcan that would be a great video !!! nice idea 💪💪
@@kenshinhimura3014 If you are referring to making my own fountain pens, I already have a couple of them - here is a playlist if you are interested: th-cam.com/video/dsHfPNSHSck/w-d-xo.html
to take out the nib and feed of the Montblanc 320 just grab the sides of the nib and push gently inward. I have the Montblanc 220 (piston filler) and 221P (cartridge). The weak part of this fountain pen is the turning knob of the piston fillers and the clear plastic part that the nib and barrels screws on to. If you can make a 3D printed clear plastic part for the 220, 221,320, etc. you can have a small business, there's a lot of people looking for this clear plastic part because this part usually breaks at the threads and it's almost impossible to repair. Mine were bought second hand and the 221P came with a cracked in the nib section threads, I had to repair it usual pure cyanoacrylate, but it may break again.
Thanks for the tips - really helpful :).
Nothing I like more than a pen that holds a gallon of ink. 👍 I liked the first drawing but this second drawing was really nice. Very nice work. These two colors compliment each other very nicely as well.
Thanks Pete! 😀
You sound very much like a Portuguese TH-camr I follow.
Hope he is a nice guy!
looks amazing
Thanks!
Very nice.
Thank you!
Thanks for a great look at the pen, and nice drawing. I got my Royal Selangor in 2005, with a stub nib (so better for calligraphy than for sketching). One difference I noticed between your pen and mine is in the shape of the section: mine is more hourglass-shaped (negative curvature) than yours. Given that Sheaffer didn't produce these pens for very long, I find that curious.
That is an interesting thing. I knew that they had a stub but I had no clue that it also had a different designed sections. It is indeed curious - thank you for sharing that detail!
@@eugenborcan I've been using the pen lately, after a long hiatus. I really love the look when it's unposted; the nib is beautiful and the proportions are just right. In that regard, it's very similar to the unposted Pelikan M600. I find the cap a little too chunky though: when capped, the RS is longer than a capped M800, while narrower in the barrel.
@@6507bankston I agree, that cap is too heavy when posted - it posts too shallow and makes the pen too long and top heavy. But unposted is a dream - thanks to that beautiful nib :). I don't have an M600 or M800 - is nice to know they are similar in size - thanks!
