I never really thought about it, but we are the last generation to not grow up on the Internet. We were the first generation to grow up with computers though, I had an Intellivision and Microvision (first portable cartridge system) in 1979 when I was 10.

I sang cat in the cradle around 1979 in 5th grade in a school wide assembly. It touched me, but my father died when I was 21 I didn't even get what is in the song. I watched G-Force.

I like the ban on smoking in public, but I always thought bars should be exempt Lawn darts came with a ring you could lay on the ground or have a friend hold it in the air for a target. As long as your aim was true, your friend was safe😂

I got a concussion when I was 2 running down a shorter steel slide, then falling at the bottom hitting my head on the CONCRETE base of the slide. They kept me in a cage at the hospital, my mom says I screamed. EDIT: I think it was July 4th 1979 or 1980 when I was 10 or 11 my dad got us a private tour of Springfield, Massachusetts' fireworks display during the day while they were setting up. The guy who gave us the tour was very emphatic that we could not smoke anything or use any lighters or matches. We got to the middle of the display, I broke out a candy cigarette and waited for him to look at us. I blew out a big puff of sugar "smoke". The guy totally freaked.

Our playgrounds were no place for adults - they couldn't handle the action. Remember throwing sand down the slide so it was more slippery? Then you make a train and run a bunch of kids down at once LOL. I love it - looking back - the biggest and most industrial-strength swings and slides. I'd climb anything just so I could jump off it. Cherry bumps. Gave as many as I received. I think Slip N Slide was a highly situational toy. Mostly it sucked, but if it was set up right it could be "okay."

I blame our Baby Boomer parents, who as we came of age and had kids of our own, implemented a bunch of laws to keep their kids (us GenX) from raising our children the way we would choose. Spanking in school? Every time we went to the principle, it was "three licks or three days of suspension."
