Awesome!
Why are you using a dive knife to pry the abalone off the rocks?? Totally illegal!!
Good seeing the workmanship keeping that spreader looked after properly. Most farmers I see don’t look after them properly and wonder why a brand spanker is rusted away after the first season. Good video too😅
Why so much irrelevant rubbish at start of video who cares what you do so many of you guys put so much rubbish up turns everybody of from watching luck somepeople make decent videos worth watching 6:19
Keep up the good work, just subscribed
Nice content brother

nz hunting is the best i hunt around oxford
Awesome! Were very lucky
@@ShamusOConnell we do ya hunt and do you only hunt duck
@@kristyinwood1834 check out my page and videos 😁 🦌 🦞 🐟 🦆
Imagine what a trophy that Fallow could have matured into if left to age. Why not shoot a hind or yearling. Another example of what's wrong with new Zealand hunting attitudes.
Specsavers… 🤓 This animal was carefully selected… wonky deformed antler.. a cull .. not a breeder , no trophy potential.. left to live was a prime spiker and a big 3-4 year old buck.. no hinds in sight … Another example of think before you speak 🗣️ 🤔😎
@@ShamusOConnell Well said, my thoughts too.
Sheesh my bro I needa spot this shallow goood work bro
Took couple years to find bro ! Thanks for watching 🤙🏻
Makes it look like NZ waters are healthy and rich with sea life. Sadly in many other parts of the country that's not the case. :-( neat to see it is still the case somewhere though. <3
Rugged coast of the Deep South is Healthy and plentiful, we are very lucky. And not as many dishonest pricks pillaging as what we see up north, not to say it’s perfect Because I’ve seen the evidence it’s not. As long as we encourage sustainable fisheries hopefully we can look after things for generations to come!
@@ShamusOConnell MSY is your enemy - the Hauraki Gulf is all but completely barren - entire east coast of upper north island similarly raped. Only the west coast has good snapper stocks these days due to a near collapse and reductions to protect it that actually let it recover. The ONLY way any of these fisheries can survive healthily is through cream skimming - ie, take a little off the top of a healthy stock and leave it mostly intact. It's not in capitalist or government economist's nature to act this way though. Greed prevails without a hard fight. Son of man who wrote for both major fishing mags for years, travelled NZ educating kids on marine ecology, major player in global gill net ban, hunted throughout the all three major islands, fished the entire thing from the 3 kings to stewart, co-founder of Option 4 and Legasea, RIP dad, your work was not wasted, but there's a lot more to do.
You dived down to look for crays and didn't even see that cray to the right
Your going to have to be more specific than that 😅 or did I see it and leave it 🤔
Enjoyed that bro awesome hunt nice stag too
Thanks heaps brother, love watching your vids over the years massive inspiration to mine ! Was an awesome hunt and stag was a mean reward, been a funny roar down here , very warm , hope you done well and got out bro 🤞🏼 Ever down South get at me for a mission 🐗🦌🦞🏔️🤙🏻
Excellent video mate. I laughed watching the tail end of Hunt 1 when you reached your truck. There's no better tonic when one reaches "civilisation" again after being cold & soaked through. A beaut mature Stag too & well earned. Cheers fella.
Thanks a lot ! Yes Is a truly good feeling reaching the truck/car 😅 haha . Cheers was wrapped to top off a big morning, best of luck on your own adventures

Bit of a bummer u didn't get the footage of the shark
I know mate ! Was gutted
Like the new style of video with a bit of narrating over the top. I know how it feels with ears playing up!
Thanks a lot for feedback! Hate hearing my own voice and don’t want to over talk because that annoys me in videos.. but also want people to understand what’s happening that aren’t familiar, and educate anyone if I can ! 😁 thanks for watching 🤙🏻
One of the best dive vids Ive ever watched - and I watch heaps :)
Wow that means a lot thanks Brett ! Do what I love, love what I do , hopefully the videos continue to get better for you to enjoy 😊 makes all the editing and filming worth it hearing feedback like yours. Thankyou
Another great video. Your uncle Boot will be proud of you.
Thanks ! Small world haha hopefully he had time watch videos now 😃
Nice catch bro
Cheers bro , thanks for watching 💯
Subscribed to your channel 🤙🏻 sit down have a watch tonight 📺
Cool vid mate. I don't think I've ever eaten Butterfish but I'm a massive Blue Cod fan. In your opinion how do you think they rate against each other?
Hay, thanks! We personally like it better , not as flakey as Bluecod but the same thick white flesh, just love the flavour more . Could eat it every day haha (Blue Cod is a very close 2nd favourite 🤤)
Really good source for dietary iodine too given it feeds on kelp/seaweed.
@@hamishmaxa6509 great info cheers bro !
Top, kahawai. Bottom two Peruvian Jack mackerel

Gday from WA just wondering why you don’t use a cray loop as you would catch them easier 🤔?but I see you do alright anyway
Hay Garry ! Yeah that’s something I will invest in soon for sure, as crays have now buggered my catch bag ! Haha, live and learn 😁
Keep safe always
🖤🙌 Thankyou Mone wa , cheers for watching!

Cheers Darrell ! Thanks for watching 😊
Yeahhh da boys.solid az effort💯massive aroha from the KATCH N KAI family
Thanks brother ! 💯 was a unreal day , making memories and gathering the best 🤤
new to the south Island. Few questions for ya. Are kingfish becoming more and more common down there with warmer water? Also how do you deal with knowing great whites are all over in the Straight haha. Im from Hawaii originally but all ive had to deal with are tiger sharks and honestly never had an issue with them but for some reason white sharks scare me haha. Would love to spear with ya some day but Ill continue to learn with you videos.
Hay bro ! Kingfish have come around last few summers along with huge schools of kahawai, warm currents encouraging this for sure ! This summer has been particularly amazing, very lucky. I put the whites to the side of my mind never forgotten haha, but always pays to be vigilant, we encounter curious 7 gillers more often . Its a special rush being in water where they are and I feel naturally comfortable, I think they know exactly when divers are in the water , very very smart amazing creatures! We can sort a dive out one day for sure 🤙🏻
Where this brother?
