Any idea what paint code this is or something close? Getting ready to buikd my rere into a Turbo mid to go along side my mid SE

I've got one in close to original condition that I just fished out of my old toys. It's missing a battery and the antenna but I'll get it up and running and drop a share.

These buggies are timeless. I have always wanted the green version. I have a kyosho outrage and I should re-decal the body since its painted white already by whom ever owned it before me. Anyways I really enjoy the rc car videos! Thanks much!!!

The Optima Pro body fits the Penguin JJ Ultima undertray fine, the width is just right to velcro the sides. I race my JJ, and for grass with the kit springs my setup is the kit 30w oil in the rear with 45w in the front with kit pistons. Rear shocks mounted one hole further in on the arms to soften the rear.

Nice to see one that’s not green. The issues with matching the green to the wheels actually put me off purchasing this but seeing yours has made me rethink 🤔

You can buy a generic piece of aluminium tube/pipe in the diameter you require and cut it your self for much cheaper.

I would stay away from that 3d printed stuff mate as it's naff! Enjoyed the video 👍

Interesting kit; seems a step up fm even the optima mid I recently built; keep the rear stiff; went soft on mine when you install your motor; battery and esc back there; you will drag your Fanny around like I am doing, oh no the Yokohama 834b is up for pre order

So I had one of these growing up, ironically in New Zealand bro! You’re undoubtedly a kiwi with that accent. Lol. My parents couldn’t afford a Tamiya so this was a cheapskate version. Don’t know where they got it but I believe it was on an overseas trip and possibly from Japan. It ran good enough but I remember those T-bone axels would break and we couldn’t get replacements. I’m 50 so this would have been in the mid to late 80’s. Mine was lost to the annals of time, but I managed to find one on TradeMe a year or so ago and have it in my collection! Came with the remote and box. The original looks quite different from yours as it has a tail scoop and huge front bumper. Wish I could post a pic for you. It’s a funky little RC but I’m so stoked to have a piece of my childhood back. Cheers bro.

what armature wind is the lemans 490 motor ?? i ran a 240sb in my ultima mod 2wd class.

I had a Turbo Ultima. You glue the front tires . It was a horrible design

Nice update, they're coming along nicely. Not easy to restore a Turbo Ultima. Not sure, but I think you had to glue the front tires to the rim, but don't quote me on that 😅 🤝

The turbo Ultima had adjustable upper arms i believe

Nice looking vintage upgrades, there, I was confused on the chassis tape, I put it on first on my optima mid graphite upgrade chassis plate first, then came in with the screws, over the tape, you know, in case I had to do maintenance, does not look too good, tape is thick, but on my ultima JJ, put the tape on over the screws and looks nicer, but I guess I can never do maintenance on it, without tearing up the tape.

Black touch up paint on a small brush for the ugly nuts and bolts. The white coating is old super glue I would have given it a spritz of matte black paint.

It really needed a new diff. But if only for the shelf then guess it’s ok but I would never spend that effort on a car I was gonna run.

This Gold color works really well especially when it contrasted with the Orange/Red decals at the sides together with the Blue suspension/Silver springs. Looks great. I will probably spray 2-3 layers Mr Hobby Gloss Coat over it to make the whole body shine a little.

The original mids gearbox worked well in stock class back in the day. I worked at a hobby shop at the time and i noticed the gearboxes run in open class had a problem with the idler gear stripping. Im in the middle of building a re re Optima mid and I think that although the metal gears weigh quite a bit they look like they can handle a mod brushless.

I had my eye on that job lot of wheels too ! for the same reason ha ha 👌

There are two colors of the yellow pepper pots. I think the mustard yellow are correct to the TOMS and came first. The fluorescent came later.

Well here's an unexpected recommendation in my feed seeing my old buggy pop up! You bid "just coz he seemed like a nice guy". Thank you! It's good to see the car has gone to a good home and there was certainly a lot of non-original on there as i'd raced it for many years before it got put in the attic. Was raced regularly at Caldicot at weely meets back in the "Doug amd Steve" days and then at a number of welsh-national meets, Caldicot, Blackwood, Saundersfoot etc but never did too well because of financial limititations when i was younger, which also explains the use-what-i-had screw approach 😁

Belts for the old Mids are easier to get hold of than the re-release ones. Parts from the usual belts from Tough Racing they are also available from Modelsport who are selling the correct pitch bando belts.

Nice buggy. Might have to look for one.
