Kingsclere
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 8 มิ.ย. 2023
Kingsclere is a OO gauge model railway under construction in a loft in the UK.
Kingsclere is a fictitious station on a fictitious line between Basingstoke and Newbury.
The layout is based in the early 1960s period, so the latter days of steam and the early days of diesels, giving a wide range of traction and stock.
The layout began during lockdown and has been slowly developing ever since.
A DCC controlled layout and all traction has sound.
Background:
Unfortunately, the BKE (Basingstoke to Reading) line and the DNSR (Newbury and Winchester) line have both been closed due to works and a land slip, respectively. So all North - South routes over this weekend are via Kingsclere. This line usually only has three paths per hour; so the increase in traffic will definitely wake up the signaller. However, it will be great for the local spotters!

The length of that wagon train !! Wow😮 not that I'm into it but that sound is great on the double header 👍 nice work
Nice. Very nice
Impressive layout.
@@atticterminalcomplexmodelr3186 thank you for your comment 👍
Looks good, nice colour and effect
Just received mine and it derails on points!! Anyone else had that problem ??
@@stewartdavis8618 I’ve not heard of this, please check the sand pipes these did cause us a couple of issues. Hope you resolve this issue 👍
I'm just back from holiday and catching up on videos. That's a nice addition to your fleet. It looks great pulling the coal wagons ...cheers James and Dylan 🙂👍
@@DYLINGTONMODELRAILWAY hope you had a good holiday 😎
@@Kingscleremodelrailway we certainly did thank you 😁👍
Nice video I have two green class 37s from the first batch love them
Such a good loco - I have a load of Lima 37s which are fine but just got D6956 from Accurascale. What a difference.
@@Valleys56xx Thats the good problem, every year the manufacturers just keep improving 👍 makes the older loco look dated. As for this loco, the only issue and the same on my other Accurascale Class 37; is the fine details. One of the sander pipe, caught the track and bent, it just needed a little persuasion 🙂 to realign.
Nice loco and video. Your trackwork is excellent.
@@johnbrown9092 thanks John, the loco was straight out of the box, so will hopefully look even better once it’s had a light weathering 🙂
Nice one
Excellent video well done, watching from downunder
Just needs a close couple to the first wagon. Love the way you've rusted the freight line tracks👍
@@AndrésMahou thanks for the comment and yes; you are correct, however, I ran out of the close magnetic couplers, will address when I order more!
I received my Accurascale Class 37 Dutch Livery this week.
@@dinmorejunctionmodelrailway cool, you happy with it? 😊 I was thinking maybe to get a blue one as well, but, it’s extra money and space on the layout, also I am trying not to branch in to the blue gray period, as that’s a door that would be hard to shut 😂🤣 so I decided not 🤔
So many wagons, and great weathering
@@_RandomPea cheers mate 🙂
This isn't your attic! 😂 😂
Very impressive. Looks like that tunnel must end in the neighbours loft 😁
@@simonstringer7865 thank you for your comment, unfortunately the tunnel doesn’t, but yes it would be great to have a neighbour, who would allow an extension into there loft 🤣 maybe I should; when they are on holiday! 🤔😂🤣
Nice update. The field with the sheep looks fantastic 👍... And i love the simple touch with the moving cranes etc. really looking great. Ive no idea what halve the little pieces are but they all really add to the realism. Great voiceover aswell. Interesting uodate. The interiors make such a difference to the whole model.
The backscene looks great, and the scenery is blending in nicely with it. The little dioramas you made to fit at the back are really good and well detailed. You've certainly been busy. I think the kiosk will prove to be a popular place once the word gets around that they are stocking Dylington's finest custard. Great update. Sorry, spectacular...cheers James and Dylan 🙂👍
@@DYLINGTONMODELRAILWAY Cheers guys, much appreciated. The kiosk is selling out fast 🤣 will need a restock! All the best, Stu
@@Kingscleremodelrailway we'd better get some sent over to you ASAP 😁👍
What a quality product you have there, there'll be lot's of people travelling miles to sample Dylington's finest custard 😁👍
That's a great angle you've filmed that at, and the locos looks great...cheers James 🙂👍
Loco weathering looks blooming good 👍
Are you kidding! That's brilliant!
That's a great little scene, it certainly adds a little life to the layout...cheers James 🙂👍
@@DYLINGTONMODELRAILWAY Cheers James, there’s going to be a lot in the August update! Also, if you fancy sending us a couple DYLINGTON Custard posters, I can add to the kiosk on the platform and maybe other area 🙂 No available storage area though 🤣😂
There is no available space for storage 🙄 that's ridiculous 😁. As regards signage, my printer is kaput at the moment. Hence, no wagons are receiving anything on them yet. But have a look on our community page about three months ago (don't worry, we haven't got a lot on there). There's a post with the custard storage tanks on, it says something about advertisements in the description. There are a couple of photos, the second one, and I think the fourth one are advertisements. Maybe you could screenshot them and print them out at a suitable size...cheers James 🙂👍
@@DYLINGTONMODELRAILWAY will have a look
@@Kingscleremodelrailway hopefully that will work for you 🙂👍
@@DYLINGTONMODELRAILWAY just had a look and the best one has ladderman in the wrong place🙄
Great how you worked with the space limitation of the ceiling. When you did the scenics I'm assuming you couldn't lay the grass in situ ?
@@_RandomPea hiya mate, yes had to get as much of the final finish prior to placing, although did have to add some scatter over the joints! How’s your layout coming on?
@@Kingscleremodelrailway yeh not to bad. Ran into an electrical head scratcher with my points just before going away for holiday but back from tomorrow and itching to start making more progress. I've picked up lights to fit to platforms and buildings so they need placing in at some point👍
@@Kingscleremodelrailway I forgot about the need to do the scenics and then move into place on certain hard to reach parts on the layout. Very annoying.
@@_RandomPea just watched your clip, if you wish to have independent control, you need to make sure that you have isolated the sections, ie plastic rail joiners between the crossover and the back of the single turnout! It may pay to install a simple control layout, with the switches you showed, which means you could have two controllers available to control either section! Therefore a passing loop! Hope that helps a little, there is plenty of information on the web or maybe get one of the Peco how too books! I have one somewhere if you would like it? Stu
@@Kingscleremodelrailway haha. Thanks a bunch. Yeh, I wasn't really looking for independent control, more just to be able to isolate the passing loop. The other station works absolutely fine with isulfrog points but I think I got a couple of duff hornby ones that mean regardless of where the point it set it still allows power where it shouldn't Doh! 😣 I'll have to make do with it now, unless like someone suggested I cut some fishplates to break the connection. Been away on hols for 10 days and so I'll take another look. Ps. Thanks for the offer but think I have those same peco books 👍
This is nice 👍🏻
Absolutely love it , nice to see realism . Those new bachmann 9fs aren't too bad are they .
@@dancooper982 Cheers Dan, both Bachmann and Hornby produce a 9F, both are nice, but for me, the Bachmann was slightly better. It is the weathering of this or tbh; any loco, which allows them stand out and look realistic. 🙂
Well done James. Wagons look fantastic. The Tornadoes equally as good. Nice to do something un railway orietated occasionally. I do the same and then get back to it with renewed mojo !! Simon. 😀✈✈✈
@@SimonMarshall-Jones Thank you Simon, I’m Stuart, not James. But you are correct, is nice to vary, I also have another couple of hundred aircraft to build! So do need to find some space to display them 🙄😂🤣 please have a look at the aircraft review I did a couple of months back!
Another enjoyable visit to Kingsclere, and nice update, the stables area and the race horses and handlers look great. You've certainly got some nice details on there. Thank you for the shout-out for Dylan's channel. It's really appreciated, and you've made his day. He did say you need a storage area or cafe that sells Dylington Custard, or at least a sign 😂 ... Cheers, James and Dylan 🙂👍
@@DYLINGTONMODELRAILWAY glad you guys enjoyed the update and no probs re the shout out, his video’s are great, have shown a few people and they all had a big smile watching them. As for the cafe, that’s a good idea, maybe in that area by the footbridge and yes definitely happy to put up a DYLINGTON Custard sign, and I’m sure the cafe/kiosk will stock plenty!
@Kingscleremodelrailway we're pleased you are enjoying his videos. He's coming up at the end of next week, so possibly there will be a new one, and of course, an update on his 009 layout when he's done some more work to it. Be careful what you say, Dylan will be looking for a sign, cafe, or storage facility for Dylington's finest custard 😂👍
@@DYLINGTONMODELRAILWAY sign 👍 selling in the kiosk 👍 storage 🤔 maybe not 🤣 I am looking forward to seeing the 009 take shape, the plan you guys have put together does look good. We in time will also have a bit of 009 in the chalk quarry!
@Kingscleremodelrailway all credit for the 009 layout goes to Dylan it's his plan, and he's doing all the work on it. My contribution was building the baseboard. Other than that, my job is making cups of tea and fetching the chocolate biscuits 😁👍
@@DYLINGTONMODELRAILWAY that’s a very important role 😂🤣
I'm alright I made it down safely
They look great...cheers James 🙂👍
@@DYLINGTONMODELRAILWAY Thank’s James, Really appreciate all your comments of support.
Dude imagine this. If it was actually steam! You could have the boiler heated by an electric element. that would be so sick
@@matthew1194668 @ this weekend at the Didcot Steam Centre there were Gauge 3 Live Steam Loco’s on a stand and was very cool!
I would like this livery from Bachmann locomotive
@@dinmorejunctionmodelrailway I’m sure in time, it will arrive! I do like how GBrF have used the older BR livery’s, I saw the Large Logo Class 69 at Basing too the other day!
Nicely rescued...cheers James 😁👍
@@DYLINGTONMODELRAILWAY Thanks James, May have to try further rescues, also with more animation 🤔 will have to do some research!
@Kingscleremodelrailway I'll have to send my grandson round he'll put you right. He's always planning stop-motion things for Dylington. You know, like, the Postman video or Bin Day or even the Dukes of Hazzard 😁👍
@@DYLINGTONMODELRAILWAY I have seen a couple of these, they are great! 👍
@Kingscleremodelrailway Thank you, he really enjoys making them, but they do take a long time to create, especially the Dukes of Hazzard one. Which took around ten hours, I think the last one was about four hours. Stormy Day was probably five hours, and it was great fun helping him. I'm the tea lad 😁👍

Waww emazingg
They certainly didn't bother about the gradient when that line was built! Were they planning to use geared locomotives?
Thank and I wasn’t aware of that, tbh, I am glad they didn’t, it was great the hear the locos, especially the tank engines; working hard to climb the grade!
Nice video, likes from me...
Thanks for the visit
Express head code too. I bet Sir William could hear the train coming up the hill from where he rests
It was loud 😳 I was there exhibiting Warton Rd for two days never heard anything like it!
Like the Track cleaner train. The layout is coming along fine.
Cheers mate, just started on the station area today! 🙂

We're just gonna ignore the lickey incline?
Thank you for your comment and no we are not ignoring the Lickey Incline. However the statement is true. Fawley Hill is 1 in 13, Lickey Incline in 1 in 37.7, the difference is Lickey is a Mainline whereas Fawley is not. Therefore, Fawley Hill is the steepest Standard gauge railway in the Uk.
Had to look this one up. As soon as I saw the name Sir William McAlpine, things became clear .... well, slightly clearer, at any rate. Can we take it chimneys ALWAYS face uphill on this line?? I recall mentioning of a freight only line to a sandpit somewhere on the LMS accessed by a line which came up a 1 in 5 grade to regain 'the big railway', but this was a reader's letter in (IIRC) Railway Modeller, over 50 years ago and not all the regular correspondents -were-completely-sane- had 100% accurate recall. Fascinating line ... thanks for sharing. 🙂
It was my first time there, a very interesting place, the McAlpine grounds was full of Very Large Ex Railway items, it is great that these were saved. And no the chimney did not appear to be facing uphill 🙂 however, is well worth a visit and definitely try to have a ride on the line, it is something 😳🤣😂
The Lickey Incline is the steepest sustained adhesion standard-gauge main-line gradient in the UK (at 1 in 37.7), but there are indeed other grades that exceed that. If we ignore funiculars (which are arguably just angled lifts, in which case a lift that goes vertically has a gradient of 1 in Zero), the steepest railway gradient in the UK would be on the Snowdon Mountain Railway (at 1 in 5.5), but that is neither standard gauge, adhesion worked, nor the mainline. The Sheffield Supertram maxes out at 1 in 10, and *is* adhesion and standard-gauge, so is technically the steepest standard gauge gradient in the UK, but light rail/trams are built somewhat differently. But there are a lot of extant gradients in the UK that beat the Lickey - for some examples: the incline to Bank on the DLR (1 in 17, Light Rail), Foxfield Bank (1 in 19, not the mainline), Marley's Bank on the Leighton Buzzard Railway (1 in 25, narrow gauge), Golfa Bank on the Welshpool railway (1 in 29, narrow gauge), and I believe the gradient on some of the tracks feeding into some of the London terminuses are *briefly* in the region of 1 in 30 as ramps thread lines over and under each other, but that's not sustained. Of these, Golfa Bank is probably the best experience, as it's about a mile long, quite twisty and is regularly running steam passenger service. (That said, my personal favourite is Aberffrwd bank on the Vale of Rheidol. It's not as steep as the lickey, but it is four miles of sustained and extremely twisty 1 in 50. The locomotives are the most powerful 2ft gauge steam locos built for a UK railway, and have a tractive effort to rival some standard gauge locos - and they *need* it). The Lickey is certainly Impressive when considering the combination of its length and grade, and of the scale of traffic expected to use it, but there are steeper grades, longer grades and taller sustained grades in the UK.
@@SomeThrillingHeroics Thank you. In the late 90’s, I was one of the PWay Engineers working on the construction of the Croydon TramLink and remember Gravel Hill being 8%, generally; I worked on the GWML (Padd to Didcot) with gradients “around” 0% to 0.1%, so this was somewhat out of the ordinary and bloody steep, especially when; I had to walk up and down it; many times 😢 as we installed the ballast, sleeper etc……
Lovely❤, regards Elizabeth
Thank you for your comment 👍🙂
A nice mix of wagons makes for realisium
Cheers, some wagons still need some work.
Brilliant. Is that a servo controlled signal?
It’s a Dapol straight signal, so, not a servo I believe, it’s really good and easy to install and use, however, a little noisy 🤔
