Hi Becca, I love your clear and straightforward topics that you presented here. First of all I want to thank you for sharing your knowledge with the world here! I have been teaching tertiary level (not music) for the past 18 years. I just went through an interview for a position teaching preschoolers in groups of 12 per class. If my interview is successful, I will need to plan for a year end concert in a month time. Do you think it's even possible since I don't know what they have done until now?

I like the concept but the staff you made was so small, most of my kids couldn't fit three notes on it. Do you have them draw all the notes from the word on the staff? Maybe I'm not understanding your approach.

Thank you for the suggestions. Very nice of you to share. For the sake of accuracy, may I offer constructive criticism... Sometimes what you are singing to us is not what is notated in the sheet music you show. You are not singing the correct tune for El Coqui, Dulce Dulce, Aqua de Limones and Duerme mi Tesoro.

Thanks for this super helpful video on teaching this song! I'm going to use some of your ideas in my Spanish immersion music class when we study Guatemala this fall. Just a Spanish note - if you're going to say that you're going to the ocean to see a fish, you want to use the word "pez," rather than "pescado" because there are two words for fish in Spanish. Pescado is what you eat and pez is what you would see swimming around. Love the ideas! Thank you!

LOVE your content!!! Veteran music teacher of 28 years here and I've begun to minimize my rule "talking" and make it about rule practicing and modeling. Yes - we have a super cool music rules rap and briefly discuss the "need to knows' but I want the first time they experience music to be about music-making and less about the hardcore do's and don't's. We review basic procedures and expectations and then get to the music fun and games. The next class I have them, I do a brief review and then get to more of the expectations and procedures modeling. I changed it up about 5 years ago and iso far it's working for me. Keep making music!!
