    Amazing that a guy, Rodman, came into the league as a SF eventually became the best defender VS 7’2” 320lbs Shaquille, 6’10” Alonzo Mourning, and a bunch of other PF’s and C’s of that era. His game of rebounding, being physical, and guarding the post were extraordinary for his size, approx 6’6” 220 lbs. although, as he aged he became a worse perimeter defender. 🤷‍♂️

    No way ppl are debating this as better defense bruh😆 only reason the paint is clogged 99% of the time is coz players in this era cant shoot threes and they all stand relatively close to the rim making the defender closer for help. Aint no way bulls are gon stop the 2017 warriors. I bet all my money from this life and the next💀

    • @wyattcarney4393

      Only reason the paint is clogged is because that is the way the game was played back then. If you did any sort of research, you would find that the average 3p% in 1996 was 36.7%. That happens to be the EXACT avg percentage this year, 2024. That doesn't even take account of the fact that Steph Curry revolutionized the game, leading everyone to practice their 3pt shot. Players in 96 shot the same percentage from deep while barely practicing it because schemes consisted of feeding the post, back to basket, etc. The three point shot was not important back then, yet they still shot the same percentage.

    • @Seankey21

      @@wyattcarney4393obviously the stat is going to be similar, by volume we’d have a way better percentage

    • @wyattcarney4393

      @Seankey21 not really sure if I understand what you mean but I'm guessing you're saying current day is more impressive bc they are shooting the same percentage on increased volume. Yes that is true, but I'll just reiterate the point that no one in the 90s practiced that shit because they knew coaches wouldn't let their team chuck up 40 threes a game and they'd maybe get 6 attempts instead.

    • @MonkeyDPrimo

      @@wyattcarney4393 To take more shots and still average the same is a significant difference it means that there are more spacing. Imagine guarding Curry, Klay Thompson, James Harden, and Lillard like that? The game is played faster today. Don't be stuck with 90s myth. Everything evolves, and so does the NBA.

    • @Like-oe1cy

      U do realize that if the percentages are the same, it’s possible that if 90s players shot the same volume of 3s today, it wouldn’t be that much different. Don’t fall for the 2020s myth. Players today really aren’t much better or “evolved”. Just different. That’s all.
