Hi, I’m Leigh and I love getting into the outdoors with my kayaks and my hiking boots. I'm a middle aged, camera-shy woman, so my videos tend to focus on the scenery, not me!

Living near London, my local water body is a rather unexciting canal, but I get out every day for a paddle. I feed the local birds and just soak up the atmosphere.

Just beautiful
Absolutely fantastic cinematography man! Shots are amazing!
Glad you enjoyed it! ☺️
Lovely video, excellent variety of different shots good work 🙂 liked and subscribed 👍
Thanks and welcome! 🤗 I see you do hiking videos too, so I’ve subscribed back!
@@peakandpaddleuk ah that's so kind of you, hope you enjoy them. I'm definitely motivated to try harder after watching yours :D
Excellent video. Just found you and look forward to catching up with all your previous trips. Subscribed. 👍
Thank you ☺️
Really enjoy your videos, they show the essence of being outdoors - the stillness and wonder!
Hey thanks for watching and posting! I’m so glad you are experiencing them the way I intended :) As a lover of the outdoors, my main aim is to convey the tranquility of being out in nature, with all its sights and sounds 🥰
beautiful, so sorry for your loss ❤
Nice montage! What cameras/drones are you using?
@@willyoungs9034 thanks! I use a combination of GoPros, my phone, a DJI Pocket 3, a Sony A6700, and a DJI Mini 4 Pro 🙂 I like having a mini arsenal!
Great video - where is the location shown @0.36?
@@stoodmars hi, thanks for watching! That’s Ullswater in the Lake District 😊
@peakandpaddleuk thanks!
😊😊😊👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Beautiful! Do you mind sharing what equipment you’re using? I’m assuming 2 GoPros and a drone but would love to know more as I’m interested in getting a set up for my kayak too
@@KellyParkPhoto sure! 🙂 I mainly use two GoPros and my iPhone (which is always in my PFD). I keep one GoPro mounted on the stern of my kayak (with a suction type mount made by an American company called Kayalu), which I control by remote, and then the other GoPro is on a Gorillapod tripod (a small, highly articulated tripod) that I keep close at hand on the deck of my kayak for the forward facing shots off my bow and also the shots looking back at me. Both GoPros are also tethered to my decklines for additional security. I use my iPhone for scenery shots around me (I prefer the quality of the iPhone compared to the GoPro but it lacks the practicalities of those cameras). I also occasionally put the GoPro from my deck onto the shore to shoot as I paddle past (this is a bit of a faff but I think it’s important to have those third person perspective shots for context!). In addition to those, I use a DJI Mini 4 Pro drone. I don’t generally fly that from my kayak though; I tend to shoot the drone footage before I launch and then possibly during a lunch stop and/or once I’m done paddling.
nice paddling!!!!
Sooo peaceful and reflective ❤thank you for sharing
Thank you for taking the time to put the video together. I love paddling on Coniston Water. Love the use of the various camera angles and drone footage mixes as you progress through the video. I'm always out looking for ideas and you have given me some watching this. Thank you.
@@iansoutdooradventures it’s lovely to read your comment, thank you! I come from a background in photography and only recently started dabbling in videos myself. I’ll let you in on a little secret: I mainly shoot with the two GoPros mounted on the kayak (and my phone), and then the following day, I’ll shoot the drone footage and the “on land” angles. That way I can enjoy the main paddle without too much faffing, and then just spend a bit of time the following day to do the rest. Of course it only really works if the weather is more or less the same but I’ve found this really works well for me 🙂
@@peakandpaddleukahhh - now I understand and it makes sense. I use GoPros too although in cold weather they can be quite troublesome. I did wonder how you managed to get the drone footage whilst kayaking, or getting out a lot… thanks for the tip! Happy paddling
@@iansoutdooradventures I find flying the drone from my kayak far too nerve wracking! :)
@@peakandpaddleukyes - agreed. Too risky in trying to get the thing landed back on your deck or in your hand. Too many opportunities for it to go badly wrong.
@@iansoutdooradventures Exactly! Although the Hoverair X1 Pro, which you can launch and land by hand, can fly over water; it's just got a massive price tag. I am investigating whether DJI's new Flip drone might be a possible option though, because you can also launch and land it from your hand, although their website discourages use over water... stay tuned!
You make such nice videos. Thanks for sharing!
@@PaddleBroken thank you, I’m so glad you enjoy them ☺️
My dad lived up in the Lake District, it's a beautiful part of the world. Seeing it by kayak must be unreal!
@@tomkleinenberg hey Tom! ☺️ I love paddling there! It’s all the fun of exploration plus magnificent scenery and all without the faff of tidal planning. The perfect weekend!
Such beautiful filming - looks like you had a great day out
@@wavesoffun hi, thanks for watching! It was a lovely day on the water, in that way that winter paddling is. I love it when I feel like I have the whole place to myself. The cold always presents some challenges but it’s so worth persevering, because the atmosphere is magical :) Thanks for your kind words!
Great trip - was great to adventure with you!
stunning video you should have way more followers than you do
What a super fun 2924 highlights video! So many fun epic adventures and cool experiences. I am excited to get to know you more and enjoy more of your adventures! Great job on this video. Super entertaining, very cool and exciting.
You captured a beautiful, introspective moodiness as well as the restoration that can come from paddling. Thanks for sharing. Sending hugs.
Thanks Steve ❤
Your best film yet. Great to have a commentary. All the best for 2025
solo kayak camping for the last few years helped me heal my soul and mind. nice film but a sad vibe. sending my online care and good vibes from ireland
So sorry to hear of your loss of a wonderful companion, a beautiful place to mourn her~
Very scenic with the enveloping fog and the sun hanging low in the sky ❤
It was very beautiful, the embodiment of everything I love about winter days on the water.
Great video, thank you for sharing.
Very good filming
@@Simon-ry1lw thank you :)
Ran up, Over and down there a good few times and always weathers like your hike… never had a clear day 😂 and fog on top; but always enjoyed the trail and the ball cotton 💚 nice film and hope you embraced that hike. Ps I’m on my kayaking adventures now for a few days with wild camp ⛺️
@@jujujay I enjoy the atmosphere of the mist! I’d even go as far as to say I prefer it over sunshine! Certainly for photography it’s far better 😅 Enjoy your kayaking trip!!
@ yes I’ll 2nd that over sunshine ☀️ when hiking 🥾 Weather very wild here today so maybe a short play paddle in waves 🌊 and no longer paddle with camp ⛺️
Lovely video PAPU !
@@samrowan Saaaam! I didn’t know you were on here! 🤣
Nice one guys, well filmed and good narration. As I live in the Highlands this is a trip Ive been doing about twice a year for the past thirty years and I just never tire of it. Happy paddling.
Hey, thanks for watching and posting! Funnily enough, I was thinking the other day that it's a trip I'd be happy to do again too :) Lismore feels more remote than it actually is, and I feel like we barely scratched its surface.
@ hey guys it changes throughout the seasons and depending on who you are taking round it can be a real wonderful learning and teaching experience. Thank you for your time in making content.
great film and seemed a great adventure... love kayak camping here in ireland...when in scotland i'm always running up or down mountain. but who knows i might take the kayak next..
Wonderful paddle. As a general note the music takes away the sense of peace and solitude experienced by the paddlers. I believe this applies to all paddling videos. Thank you for sharing.
Great video ❤
Beautifully shot and told~ would love to spend a good amount of time in the highlands, hopefully in the next year
@@oliverkillian hey thanks for watching and posting, I’m glad you enjoyed it! It looks like you have a similar style of videography :) The Highlands are my favourite part of the UK!
Beautiful video. Thanks for sharing, great job.
@@newfoundlanderonthego thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it ☺️
Enjoyed that, very peaceful. Walked that Loch backpacking, not kayaked it yet. If not already done, try the 17mi length of Loch Shiel, Acharacle to Glenfinnan. ATB
@@silentrabbit247 thanks for watching! I almost did Loch Shiel earlier this year but then plans changed. It’s still on my list :)
Thank you, a very nice video... I'm just back from a 2 day trip to the head of the Loch and back, it's a stunning place.I will get a video sorted in a few months, it's at the back of a long queue 😅
This looks great I wanted to get to the lakes this year but never made it, only for a quick paddle on Windermere while dropping off a kayak
@@steelninja-m6d I love paddling in the Lakes :) Fabulous scenery and no tides to faff with!
Nice editing man!
What's the benefit of using a broom handle instead of an ordinary paddle ?
@@john-wick101 I started using Greenland paddles when I developed wrist tendinitis earlier this year. For me the benefit is that I’m able to paddle without pain.
What a stunning scenery my friend! Amazing shots!
@@ervinslens thank you, that’s very kind of you to say :)
Beautiful.
Great video!
Thank you :)
