I was a little bit all over the pace with the footage in this video however I did get a lot of work done. I did get a little ahead of myself as well. I finally have the rotating assembly complete. The oil pan currently will seat onto the block after making clerance for the ARP stud heads. I need to take it back off and check the windage try for scratches from the crank. If any are present I will modify the windage tray. And I've thrown some other parts of the engine back on.

Installing the Crank is a lot more involved than one may think. Simply putting parts together and calling it good is a sure fire was to have future engine failure. The piston ring compressor I was using was a pain in the butt as well. However the short block is mostly assembled. Ill be on my way to installing the cam and going over procedures needed for that.

Thank you, this fixed my cruise control problem.
Better yet once you got your timing cover off you do not have to pull any oil pan bolts pull the bolt that holds the tube on to the oil pump then pull your oil pump bolts out and then you give your oil pump a turn, clockwise a little bit and you’ll be able to pull it right off without prying down on your oil pan

To anyone else that watches this, you can get the radiator out without taking the bumper off. There are several youtube videos that show it. I did it to replace my A/C condenser / Trans Cooler.
You should retitle this video cam swap Jeep Grand Cherokee / Dodge Durango. You will get way more hits. There are none out there and yours doesn't come up easy because of the title.

Curious what you do to tighten the header bolts, what do i need to remove, etc. I cant figure out how to get a wrench or socket up in there, drivers and passenger side the bottom middle bolts on both sides
Hey, i have the arh long tube and i have no idea on getting a wrench or socket on them. I shoulda just got shorty headers cuz at least i am able to reach all bolts either from over or underneath

Pretty cool, however, when you put the oil pan back, are you sure it’s not gonna leak without replacing the pan gasket? I’m assuming if you are changing your oil pump, chances are your vehicle is over 100k, at which point the gasket may already be going bad, no?

Did you put 6.4l valve springs in and what tune did you go with?
Mopar has a performance valve spring that I used at the time. A quick Google search will find the. I don't now if they're still available or not. I know have PSI 1511 springs. Satera Tuning.

Ok I have watched alot of these videos and not 1 person is mart enough to take the oil pump bolts out and just turn the oil pump and wow the pick up tube comes out of the pump and then the pump will co.e out how are these so called how to videos if you don't actually know how to do it with out bending stuff 😂
There are 2 types of these engines - one with a long oil receiver and one with a short one. the long one is attached inside the pan with 2 bolts, the short one - with one bolt directly to the pump.
Well shit. I was excited. But I have a 6.4 SRT and my pan is aluminum not abs. This is not what I wanted to hear. I hope I can find a way to not drop the pan and replace this dead pump. I’m idling at 12psi and that is no bueno I don’t care what fiat says. 4psi minimum yeah right. Just another trick for them to pull so they don’t have to warranty replace an engine.

Don't do it. Not worth it. Yes you get compliments. But over time it will degrade and just look like shit. I've had to "patch" the hood up since with a clear window like a C6 ZR1. Just buy an aftermarket hood if you want a different look
@@teammopar771 ouch! What actually degraded on it?
@codysturgill6653 the black Bezel piece . To make that fit to the JGC hood the cut has to be perfect.. mine pretty much was but the hood has a indent in the very front which the black bezel doesn't conform to. It simply never properly fits the hood. I used a bunch of bondo on the underside to try and hold it all in place and for a little while it worked. But after multiple heat cycles from the engine. The weather. Hot/cold snow rain the adhesive/Bondo eroded over time.
@codysturgill6653 and then the factory mount bracket the that shaker bolts to has to be modified to even fit under the hood for the JGC. Obviously it can be done. I did it. And for a little bit it was nice. The biggest thing that ruined it was the fact that the motor and my big choppy cam made the shaker.... shake. On top of everything the engine vibration also slowly wore everything out. Mayne if I had taken a little more time to do it right and look at it twice I could have come up with a better solution.
@codysturgill6653 the project itself was nearly 2k dollars. You could buy a new hood for that. Was it unique? Yes. Worth the trouble and headaches that followed. No.

The factory 5.7 pistons are not weak and can hold 800+ horsepower quite well the ring gap isn’t big enough for boost. You add gap and it’s good for boost. That’s why your piston separated at the ring and blew the tops off the pistons

I'm more about function than appearance with these. Plus they're sitting under the vehicle so I'm not trying to show off sexy welds. Both turbos are currently mocked up for their final fitment.

How much for those springs
If you were to see this I would like to ask from your experience on this will it be in difference of things I would have to change as far as plugs or connectors on this exact same car but I have the whole 6.4 engine in the 5.7 grand Cherokee so Ik there a few hoses I may need to extend like the vacuum line or whatever but basically what’s different between just swapping the intake manifold on top of a 5.7 and having to deal with certain things that’s don’t run with the 5.7 engine or having the whole 6.4 in there is it still dome things I would have to change……. If u do see this I’m sorry if I didn’t explain throughly

@jeepwk6.5L I'm going to use one of the oil plugs on the side of the block next to the oil pressure sensor to feed oil to the turbos. I'll T it off to feed each and use a oil scavenge pump for the drain and return it back through the cylinder head or through the oil pan drain bolt.
@@teammopar771 yeah I ended up building a sump for the turbo to drain in and pump from it back to the oil pan. But no I'm in Illinois.
@jeepwk6.5L the next challange will be the passenger side hot piping. It shouldn't be too hard. And the wastegate plumbing will be a challenge too.
