    The etched traces along the bottom and the transistor sockets are a little weak 🤷 idt this qualifies strictly as a turret board bc its printed and theres not a good reason to socket transistors, you could just as easily have run jumpers to switches and mounted transistors on the switch lugs if youre not sure whether you like ge or si... This seems like a lot of flash for very little substance

    Question: is it possible to build the electronics portion using terminal strips and point to point wiring instead? Or can we just order the turret board somewhere? I don't have cnc but probably could use a premade enclosure instead. Thanks.

    • @chiefaudiodesigns
      @chiefaudiodesigns 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Of course. There are many pedal builders that make this using point to point wiring. Paperboy Pedals and Elephant Pedals for example.

      @@chiefaudiodesigns thanks for the info. If turret boards aren't too hard to build / solder I could consider that. I've never build a pedal but restored a point to point wired hifi / console pull tube amp. Looks like a fun project.

    Is there a reason you used a 250v capacitor? By all accounts they sounds the same as smaller low voltage options, however "They look cooler" seems to be the reason you see them in guitar tone controls. That reason would make sense here as the components are on display. By the way, "looking cooler" is a perfectly valid argument in my opinion, just as long as people don't try to validate it with some sort of argument about tone or something.

    • @chiefaudiodesigns
      @chiefaudiodesigns 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are absolutely right. These capacitors are used for better look. In addition, this is due to the assortment of axial capacitors in the shop where I usually order components :)

    • @xTheZapper
      @xTheZapper 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chiefaudiodesigns Well they certainly do look awesome. I bought a selection of different caps for guitar tone controls, including a ridiculous 1.5kv oil in paper just because it was yellow and looked great! Although a bit pointless being inside a guitar cavity. I also built a Fuzz Face clone myself but wanted to see how small it could be so used as low voltage as possible, I try to avoid the little ceramic caps though as they can apparently be microphonic and pick up noise. I was wondering if the little window on your pedals lets any noise or hum in? Have you compared it to a solid box?

    • @Jonathan_Doe_
      @Jonathan_Doe_ ปีที่แล้ว

      Different voltage capacitors have slightly different ESR characteristics, and this will be frequency dependant to an extent too, so there may actually be some very, very subtle differences.
