[Team 0%] Difficult 0/5000 puzzle: "THE BIG BOY" by zch (Super Mario Maker 2)
Creative puzzle, it was fun to solve. It was one of the event levels for Team 0% (the theme for the 20th day was "puzzle levels").
First, I'll admit that the creator posted a few clips of the level which made it easier for me. The first one was of the beginning (until the yoshi shell jump), and the last one was of entering the key door using the spring + midair spiky shell bounce strat. The first clip wasn't of much help, but the second one helped me get to the top of the level with yoshi. But that's pretty much it, I had to figure out everything else.
There are two ways you can get to the top with yoshi (excluding boucing off the spike at 0:48, because you can only do it once): using the yoshi shell jump strat at 1:11 (my strat), and doing the midair beetle jump at 1:52 (the creator's strat). The former is always optional, but more preferred by me because it requires less time to set up. Meanwhile, the latter is necessary when you want to carry an item with yourself to the top (a fireball or a shell).
The hardest thing to figure out for me was how to get on the platform at 3:40. The problem is, you can't get there with yoshi by jumping off a spiky beetle or bouncing off a spring. Even if you crouch, you will automatically uncrouch; that's how it works in NSMBU. You also can't flutter when crouched. You can only get up there if you jump off solid ground, but it's normally too low. That's why the sideways spring strat is the only thing that works (that I can think of). It was difficult to figure out because it requires you to hit the ? block with the fish to make it activate the bomb, causing the spring to bounce up, temporarily allowing you to grab it. I had no idea that the fish would do that, I had to recreate the level in editor to see if the fish would even do anything useful. Also, in case it's not obvious, there's a hidden block at 3:40 that you have to avoid hitting.

Fun and crazy level. It took a while to rebuild because of the sheer number of firebars. The conveyor belt jumps at 0:50 were probably the hardest in the entire level. A pretty straightforward but difficult speedrun. The first half is definitely harder than the second. I didn't "find" it, I came up with it. The fact that there even is a fire flower immediately caught my attention, and since I noticed there's no clear condition, tight timer or any other major obstacle, I decided to try to damage boost all the way to the end.

Those are some gorgeous setups. Well done on the clear! Everything seems to flow beautifully from one mount/bounce to the next. Thanks for sharing, hopefully I learn a thing or two from it when I construct levels from now on.
This is one of those things that's objectively repugnant, but you just feel forced to have respect for it, for just how carefully it was crafted to be bad. Did you do anything to release the chainchomps or did Nintendo just put a really, really obscure piece of code that makes them run off after so much time? Why would they do that, I wonder...
