Waar is my VLAN SOP?
Hi Ethan. I just need to wrap up the failover videos, and then I'll see how I can create a series on VLANs.
Thank you for delving into these more intricate setups. I have been taking advantage of PCC with 2 ISPs for a while. My setup is similar to yours, but I found your video very well organized and easy to understand. I would request that you start adding one or two things to your next videos: When you are configuring across multiple tabs, please have a text popup / overlay that summarizes the purpose of what you are doing. It makes scrubbing through the video to re-watch sections easier. Next, consider chapters in the video timeline also broken down by each general config at a high level. Video idea / request: Can you combine this PCC setup with cake-download and cake-upload Queues for QoS prioritizing some VoiP (and if possible gaming) traffic. VoiP and Gaming are both very general, but if you pick an example of each, I think people could probably expand on them, themselves. For VoiP, I personally would choose Verizon Wireless Calling (detected as destination ports UDP 500 and 4500). I currently have this working on my setup and would very much appreciate a professional doing it so I can see if I did it right. My "waveform buffer bloat test" (keywords) was very good last time I checked it and my VoiP calls have been a lot more clear since I prioritized the traffic / reserved some bandwidth to avoid buffer bloat.
Hi @Underourrock, thanks so much for your feedback on my video and for checking out the setup I used on MikroTik. I really appreciate your suggestions on improving the video, especially about making the chapters clearer to follow. I'll definitely keep that in mind to make my content easier to watch. For VoIP and gaming, you can set up QoS prioritization. I plan to make a future video covering that topic! In my video on PBR with Mangle rules, you can add your VoIP devices to an address list and route them to a second upstream provider-give it a try, and see if it works for you. Thanks again for the support!
I'd be willing to share my sanitized config to show how I setup cake-download and cake-upload queues for a Dual WAN setup, if it would be of any help to you? If you've got a good handle on this already, then no worries. I found it a little tricky to setup, but got it when I decided to select for traffic that had already been connection marked, and apply generic high priority packet marks to upload and download traffic. I did have to create an extended packet mark rule that converted the generic upload/download priority marks to ISP specific ones that could be selected in the cake queues. Not ideal, but it was the cleanest way I could figure it out. Any traffic that had a connection mark and didn't have a packet mark went into the "regular" upload and download packet mark buckets, so those were easier. Edit: As you can see I've already been down this path and I've got a solution that works. I have no idea if it is the best solution, but by works I mean I have 0 to 2ms of buffer bloat when my ISP links are behaving normally. So, I'd be interesting in seeing how a professional solves this issues. I found simple queues and tree queues to be ineffective and very buggy. (Possibly my fault, but I did manage to get cake based queues to work very well with the waveform buffer bloat test tool and my VoiP calls got a lot better.)
@@underourrock You can send the backup configuration file or the .rsc file to my email at training@iclix.co.za so I can review it.
Lekker Buddy ou.
