Is that a masonry blade that you're cutting the template from?🤔 Awesome video!😬👍
@cj635 yeah it's a concrete cutting blade 👍 got it free on a jobsite one day. Thank you so much for watching! I'll be doing lots more, got a chefs knife im doing next with a similar etch, it's gorgeous!
That knife is cool great job
@JefferyBurchett thanks alot! Gotna Chefs knife coming out next with a similar Etch, hope you'll watch it! It looks fantastic!
You should’ve let it pinch you
Good song to pick man!
they ate with that ish?
@finnslayer177 I highly doubt it, but people can call it whatever they like, pig-sticker, poker, eating pick, jabby thing. I just like making the multi directional twists and the hook 🪝 on the end to hang it. The purpose of this video was to highlight the multi directional twists and show how it's done for any project, I like to do that with forks and soons too. Makes them look really cool 😎.
Cool video bro, I am unfamiliar with Viking eating picks but it def looks good for roasting meat over a fire
@clintwestwood1895 thanks, just something cool to make, I like doing the multi directional twists.
So, how'd ya do that?
@dukesilver2019 the full how to video is on my youtube channel. Got a few videos on etching, got a new video how to make an Etched Harbor Freight Hatchet, check em out!
you did not airdown???😮
@velocity800 no I was a total noob at the time, I lol at myself now.
i am envious of your collection of moldy mattresses.
@stevetravels6160 yeah, unfortunately some family members can't seem to let go of things, I'm working on it.
Beautiful aerial shots man!
@OnceThereWasACat thank you very much I appreciate it!
@OnceThereWasACat If you like those views i hope you get the chance to checkout some of my fishing videos.
Of course! I’ll check em out at work on my break. That Ice fishing one looked great.
They turned out cool very nice you do great work keep it up and I look forward to more videos
@JefferyBurchett thank you very much Jeff! I really appreciate it!
Ugly handle
You really didn't show anything but sanding
My apologies, I coated the axehead with a thin coat of peanut oil and baked it at 500 degrees for an hour, it hardens the steel and coats it like a cast iron pan, sealing it from rust.
It sounds like someone has a cold
@TonySmith-j8t I could have had one at the time, I've got two kids so they bring home lots of germs everyday.
Love everything but the music
My apologies, I tried to cater to most of the general public. What music do you prefer?
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I've got better
It was a fun adventure with the kids that's for sure 😄 we caught about 12lbs in 2 days, this was 2 yrs ago now.
Wow. I'd buy one of yours Sir.

how to where?
The video is in one of my playlists, thank you so much for watching!
A tip for finishing the handle if you like the charred look, hit it with a wire brush by hand to remove the powdery carbon and expose a bit of the wood underneath. This gives it a rough texture, which you can leave for a better grip, or sand it down smooth to give it streaks of less charred wood that follow the grain. Experiment with it a bit and see what you like. Once you get the handle the way you like it, use a heat gun or oven and melt some beeswax into the wood. The handle should soak up quite a bit of it, so a few applications might be necessary, but you want the wood saturated and unable to absorb any more of the melted wax. End grain will suck up a whole lot of wax. Buff the excess wax off and you're done. This will give the handle much more grip in addition to waterproofing and preserving the wood from the elements and insects. It'll outlast just about every finish you'd ever want to put on a wooden handle, and you can refresh the beeswax years later in the same manner to restore that protection. Don't skip the char though, it's an integral part of what helps preserve the wood underneath.
@Skinflaps_Meatslapper I do sand the handle after charring and soak it in peanut oil usually while it's still hot. Sounds like you know your stuff thanks for watching!
Ive seen many people use steel wool immediately after charring. There are many types of wool so that may make a difference too.. ive never charred a handle but yours looks great, and with that in mind i think oil is better for handles as wax tends to be a bit slippy and messy in use on hamdles in my experience. Boiled linseed oil or danish oil works too. But thats on non charred handles, idk if the charring makes a difference in that regard? Great tips both of you
@@fabianherrera5427 I actually use a mixture of BLO and beeswax for regular wood, as melted wax on its own doesn't penetrate into the grain as well (dust from sanding down to 2000 grit probably has a lot to do with it, but oil seeps right through). The charring and brushing opens up the grain a bit and lets the wax flow right in. Once you buff the wood out with a cloth or wheel, the wax on the surface is removed, leaving only the stuff that melted into the grain and became part of the wood. It's completely dry and leaves no residue behind, you wouldn't even know it was there until you grip the wood. It's not quite as grippy as a rubber overmold, I'd compare it more to something like a skateboard or rollerblade wheel, but it never gets messy or slippery even with extended use in hot conditions. Most of my blacksmithing hammers are finished this way, because if I burn the handle it just blends right in.
@Skinflaps_Meatslapper wow interesting thanks for the info. Why do you sand so high if i might ask? Im a woodworker and even for furniture i dont go above 220, "workshop companion" has a great video on this subject actually. Its a shorts video less than a minute, just curious!
@Skinflaps_Meatslapper his video is called "sanding past 220" by workshop companion, its under the "shorts".. great video with great visuals relevant to this topic, id highly recommend watching it, he has a great channel
Sooo, cutting out a knife shape into flat steel is forging? LOL
@JohnQuePublic903 Forging: to make or shape (a metal object) by heating it in a fire or furnace and beating or hammering it. Is the Definition is which Google has to offer. I said in my video I use different techniques to make this blade, forging the hammer marks and texture and bird head, as well as stock removal, so yes the blade has been Forged, Hammered and Beaten and quenched and Hardened to make the Blade it is. Thank you so much for watching!
That forge looks pretty iffy be careful with it, your build turned out nice 👍
@bigGeo5460 my forge is a Harbor Freight Weed Burner lol!

Thanks Mike!
Nice fish.
Must be nice to ice fish I love in south Louisiana and always wanted to go ice fishing.
Last year was my first year doing it, actually, and I love it. It's really nice to just walk on top of the water and drop a line wherever you want. Can't do that in a summer, that's for sure. Thanks for watching! More videos to come this summer!
I always wanted to go fishing down there for crawfish! And other things, maybe in a few years.
Nice catch
Thank you, caught alot bigger ones on some my other videos though. But had a great time.
That is awesome

Thank you for liking. Unfortunately, one of the locals has asked me not to say online, if you're a local to central Washington, I'm sure you'll recognize it. Thank you so much for watching. I'm sorry I can't help.

You will have to do some readup on the drone situation in reference to DNR land. Looks like it is allowed with permission/ permit.
From what I've researched, your not allowed to take off or land from their property or ground. But you can from private property and fly over it as long as you keep your drone in your view. I'll look into the permit thing. I see a ton of drone footage out there there's gotta be a way legally, even if I have to take off and land feom the hood of my truck, the FAA controls the air.
Iv been camping with a topper all my life on and off.but it seems to be catching on again.i see more people in the campgrounds doing it.not all of us can go buy a new r.v.
Weirdest tattoos bro
those fish look gorgeous what beautiful fish God made
He made them really tasty too, so thankful.
what recipes do you use when eating your trout and do u ever smoke them?
I really like the Lousiana New Orleans Fish Fry and all of the fish fry flavors. Either that or a fish tacos with Sautéed mushrooms, onions, cheese, flour tortilla, avacoto and a little Buffalo Ranch. 👌 I haven't really tried smoking them yet, I'm afraid of drying them out too much, I have a treager.
but how do you get rid of all the small bones because they are annoying when eating trout@@NorthWindCreations
@user-xk1lp9mm5d cook it whole, or Filet the bones out very carefully. I've been eating trout since I was a small boy so the pin bones don't bother me. If you cook it whole you can get all the bones out, vs fileting
It would be nice if you would be talking about what you are doing. Because not everybody is going to understand it.😢
Sorry, I made the video full length and speeded it up to shorten the video, otherwise it would have been a few hours long. I'll make more videos where I talk about what I'm doing, thank you for your feedback.
For all the people who think you have to have fancy tools and setup to do blacksmithing... you made some beautiful and useful tools using free materials, a framing hammer, and a random piece of plate steel for an anvil, and what I assume was an extremely cheap forge. I love it. Fantastic job.
Thank you very much for the kind comment.
