An overview of how an Uaz is prepared for the Siberian winter. We travelled with these cars for thousands of kilometres on ice and snow, without much of a problem in Yakutsk, Oymyakon, Magadan. The temperature was often below 50C on our journey.

Greetings from Pontassieve province of Florence Italy in Russia and Siberia in winter at these temperatures of -35 degrees what type and grade and viscosity of engine oil do you use in your cars and trucks?
All liquids in the cars have to be “arctic” grade. I cannot recall the exact type and viscosity, but it’s a low viscosity engine oil. Even then, we are not stopping the engine for the night, as if we do it, the engine oil and the gearbox oil freezes for the morning, and it is not possible to start the car again, or shift gears.

Hey Joshua, I don’t own this car. We travelled to Yakutsk, we bought the car, made a trip and then sold it afterwards. You can buy these cars cheaply in Russia, but the challenge is you cannot export them.
