"All scripture WAS inspired by God" however there are no remaining copies of the original writings. Thus there are a few spurious texts which alter some meanings due to copyist errors, personal additions, as well as the foretold coming "Great Apostasy". The Roman emperor Constantine was behind the politically motivated Apostasy of the 3rd century just as foretold by the Apostle of Jesus: 2 Thes 2:3 "Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction." Trinity was never taught by Christ's followers. Jesus said to be baptised in His name, see Acts 8:16, Acts 10:48, Acts 19:5. However spurious words were added after AD 325, not appearing in oldest copies before then: "In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit". Followers of Christ Jesus are to be baptised in Jesus' name. The "handling of poisonous snakes" is a fairly obvious spurious addition. What are we to do? "Beloved, DO NOT BELIEVE EVERY SPIRIT, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out." 1John 4

I found this episode the most thought provoking for me as a Bible guy. You pointed out about the missing items in the ark from Moses day to Solomon's day. I never realized that! You also mentioned the ark went missing after the Babylonian captivity. There is no mention of it in Jesus' day or in the New Testament outside of Hebrews. It made me wonder whether the ark was remade it or not.

Thanks, Derek. I have not been convinced by "Replacement Theology." I was reminded of the verse, "I say then, God has not rejected His people, has He? May it never be! For I too am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin." (Roman 11:1)
