The platforms are in a very bad state with the weeds growing there
No
Disgrace
3 visits to SA in the 1990s. If this is Joburg where are all the people? looks like a ghost town😢Hope those stations are going to be upgraded, but as nobody seems to use them they must be abandoned?
@vernongoodey5096 Most stations suffered the blow during Covid 19, and the country went on lockdown. Construction has begun to recover most of the stations.
@@bonganimkhwanazi6485 Good to hear. My last trip was from Joburg to Bulawayo via Beitbridge. Bought a 15F numberplate from the museum at Joburg station (is it still there?) to go with my Zimbabwe flying fifteen Garrett name and numberplate INGWE No. 381
Shocking the state of the perway . In my days the perway was kept free of weeds and garbage. This is typical of a 3rd World country 😢
Nice done, bro. It's not every day you get to see Rovos shunting their locomotives around. It's great that they gave you a taste of the the five star luxury inside the train👌🏾
@marval44039 Thank you, it was quite an experience
disgusting and filthy departure station. we should be ashamed
Brilliant video!! Thank you!
What a filthy station and lines!! As far as you go it's just trash. No pride whatsoever! It's like a refuse dumpyard not to mention the grass and weed. A real cesspit! I wonder how clean the inside of the trains are? I wouldn't ever use this train that's for sure! The last time we travelled this route was in 1993 and it was such a pleasure. Stations were super clean and tidy as well as the interior of the train and along the tracks. You never saw such filth and weed jungle! Clearly it's not the case now.
Jip. My observation as well. What a bunch of morons...
Pre 1994 JHB station saw the arrival and departure of over 1000 trains a day. Now looking along the tracks 30 years later, not a single trackside signal light in opperation, not to mention the general condition of neglect for all to see. It was said at the time that SA was built on the backs of black labour, and here is the proof of that lie. It is now an entrenched fact that black governments in SA can achieve nothing other than breaking things down, The ANC is truly and fundamentaly useless to its voters..
Sad but very true.
100 Wagons
You did a better job than me filming this one 😅. Great work, bro.👏🏾🙌🏾
Always a good area to spot trains, especially if everything is working
Very good area, 15 minute wait, one of the busy freight lines remaining
Hello friend. Awesome catch and very nice location !!! Like your videos and subscribed. Big train enthusiast greetings from Germany !!!
Thank you really appreciate for the support
Which area is this?
Why does the distance between limindella and lerralla seem so large? Do you think a new station must be built?
Man lerralla station is pretty
There's just something about those wagons. The coal wagons of choice. Great video, bro.👏🏾
Wonderful wagons indeed, they need proper powerful locos
Very pleasant experience
Really a beautiful train have been on a trip on it
The line has deteriorated... 😢 Haven't traveled on it since 2012
What ashame the need and greed for money from the anc government has been the down fall of all state entities through bribes, corporations and self enrichment they will lie and decive everyone just to be able to live a luxurious life shame on all
What a fuss! Why did the #ANC even bother? No promotion or passengers, running a whole train for what?
1:12 y'all still have the legendary 10m5 sets 😮😅
They still mixing, soon they will use Xtrapolis Mega on all corridors
I had no idea you filmed this much content. This has refreshed my memory of some places as well as highlighted just how bad the infrastructure has become. Top notch content bro, nice to see a few winners on your journey. Apparently, those bunch of winners (18Es) have been staged at Redan for weeks now.
I thought maybe they were taking a nap😅😅😅. Unfortunately for me its been a while seeing active 18Es until i went on that trip. Thanks bro
Ah, man, watching this makes me wish i was on that train. This is a great video, bro. Enjoyed every minute. Top quality content 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
Thank you my brother
I missed out big time on this one. Nice video, bro.
Next time my brother, next time
we are getting there slowly but surely
Very well maintaned tracks. Viva
Transkaroo? Noways. Since the train was renamed Shozoloza, the Transkaroo stopped existed. And it never went through Vereeniging. If so it had to be rerouted for some reason. .
Prasa got they own locos not tfr problems
😂is transkaroo open. I miss my annual traveling JBG to Boland and Cape Town . Is it safe now after vandalism???
Now the train is a pain. Its about 6hours to Potch
One the best journeys of life jhb to kby
Thank you! Awesome video series. It has helped me add a lot more detail (eg: signals) to OpenStreetMap and by effect OpenRailwayMap. 🙂
Is any of the overhead electrification still working or has it become defunct as well as the signalling systems?
This signaling issue is nationally
All the stations along the route badly maintained weeds growing out through the cement a bad reflection on our country vandalising signals and stealing overhead cables is a shame on south africa what used to be a proud organisatian is now on a downward spiral sadly this train only reached as far as de aar and passengers had to be ferried by bus to cape town a lot of hard work will be needed to get the railway to the standard it once had sad to see your old employer in such a sorry state
Currently this stations are not inuse, they suffered prior to lockdown.
Nice video. Looks like those extra stations are almost ready to go. Ja - the engineers back in the day knew how to build a railway. Almost all the main metrorail passenger lines in Gauteng are totally grade separated - no level crossings. Which is something you don't even see overseas. Seems like the problematic section in that area is from Irene to Kaalfontein - I know lots of people are eager for Oakmoor to reopen, but I heard there are lots of issues there.
Thank you, Yes Oakmoor and Elandsfontein are facing similar issues, they are the two station on that corridor with alot of commuter. Personal opinion, prasa is moving slow to fix platform clearance problem.
@@bonganimkhwanazi6485 Yes - I can see the platform issues becoming bigger in the future. When I caught the train from Pretoria to Irene last week I was shocked at how big the gap was at Irene. There are just so many different platform heights on the network. I saw in Durban there was basically level boarding to the new blue sets - but then there is a massive gap at some platforms here. No standard. Customers coming from Gautrain will just expect level boarding to be everywhere. But I think in Gauteng, Prasa's priority for now is just to reopen more corridors - especially Randfontein and Vereeniging.
yes plant flowers or something not weeds but thd roots gona make the tracks brake apart anyway just clean the tracks
4:08 that's it, just throw rubbish out the window. Amazing how people just don't care
Its bad @puzzledzimbo
No pride or relfrespect.
What is amazing to me, and I did not know, is that TransKaroo goes south first and then west to Potch.
It didn't used to, currently using this alternative route after the 2 year shutdown.
I think it is ArcelorMittal, not Arcela Mital (The old Iscor plant at Vanderbijl).
I wonder why the Randfontein route is not used because it’s more direct and shorter, going via Germiston causes massive delays
Hopeful they will resume the service via Randfontein before June.
Wat n skande om te sien hoe wonderlike infrastruktuur deur wanadministrasie vernietig is. Moet dit asb. nie verder vertoon nie! Dit is n skande!
Would be nice to get interior shots of toilets. Dining car etc. And feedback on internal cleanliness and security as well as scheduling experiences. Those are the concerns that need to be adressed before large scale re-use of this previously much loved service
Noted, for the next trip will include everything
What a shame the anc government has totally dumped a well organized railway system in to nothing today people must pay large amounts of money for taxi transportation and a big safety risk get to work and home should the rail system still have been functioning the costs of getting to work and back would have been less what a shame
This is what happens when a terrorist organization becomes the government and all that they care for is self enrichment using people with false sense and promises to achieve their goal😢😢😢
More please brother. Did you do the whole trip from Jhb to Cpt?
I did the trip up to Potchestroom
i need more
Next year we bringing more content
That high-speed clip video is a classic I see what you did there
Thank you
