It is with profound sadness that the passing of Sri Mothe Jagannatham, a celebrated traditional puppeteer from Ammapuram village, Narmetta Mandal. After a prolonged illness, he left behind a legacy of nearly six decades of dedication to the traditional art form of Koyya Bommalata (puppet dance) and street plays.
Sri Jagannatham's impressive career spanned over 1,000 performances across Telangana's districts and Northeast India, including Assam. His tireless efforts to preserve and promote Koyya Bommalata earned him recognition and accolades from the Telangana Language and Culture Department.
His contributions to the world of traditional puppetry will be deeply missed, and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations.
