this was a while back on sway's radio show. im gonna guess 10 years ago? the instrumental he was rapping over was just drums and i added my own music over it. i wish i either turned down the levels on the video or turned my music up but i still think it came out pretty good.

it blows. at least on the production end of things you can sample something if youre out of ideas. but yeah i found that forcing yourself on the spot with a blank page might not be the best approach. you gotta collect cool bits and pieces along the way so you have something to start with

main reason i made that the title was because i thought my voice had more range and im just like god damn my shit is limited. its really one of my first few attempts at singing though. i used to do the rap thing but im too old and its too cringey

@@LAMEHERC1 in a similar situation sorta, been making beats for 20 years (i also started TRYING to sing recently, better than dealing with MC's lol. also i been making dance stuff recently not hiphop) and it's like why? i have a soundcloud with like 20+ songs that have acapellas over the top but beyond that like not even sure what to do with them. kinda pointless in a way, but hey as long as i'm having a decent time making them and i'm still improving at mixing/mastering there are WORSE hobbies for sure.

@@LAMEHERC1 keep singing you do get better in my experience, it's a muscle after all just needs to be worked out some and kept up on. but goddamn is it painful, especially if you're halfway decent at making beats and love music to hear yourself just butchering shit. melodyne is my friend, and shitloads of reverb.

@@tryingtotryistrying thanks for the encouragement man. yeah its hard branching out from beats, and evolving, especially if you spent the last 10-20 years making hip hop. there is definitely a way to make cool music without a natural voice, lots of people have done it and become famous. im pretty motivated toward figuring it out.

thanks man. its a joke but i really do think that common is one of the more flagrant sell outs. his entire image is human rights and social justice and that gap commercial, a company that is one of the worst offenders for human rights violations and labor issues
