My Song Is Love Unknown (Calkin)
Performed by Susan Beisner on the excellent Listen While We Sing 4-CD set: www.wtsbooks.com/product-exec/product_id/5951/nm/Listen_While_We_Sing_88_Hymns_Accompanied_4_Audio_CDs_/parent_id/111
My song is love unknown,
My Saviors love to me;
Love to the loveless shown,
That they might lovely be.
O who am I, that for my sake
My Lord should take, frail flesh and die?
He came from His blest throne
Salvation to bestow;
But men made strange, and none
The longed for Christ would know:
But O! my Friend, my Friend indeed,
Who at my need His life did spend.
Sometimes they strew His way,
And His sweet praises sing;
Resounding all the day
Hosannas to their King:
Then Crucify! is all their breath,
And for His death they thirst and cry.
Why, what hath my Lord done?
What makes this rage and spite?
He made the lame to run,
He gave the blind their sight,
Sweet injuries! Yet they at these
Themselves displease, and gainst Him rise.
They rise and needs will have
My dear Lord made away;
A murderer they saved,
The Prince of life they slay,
Yet cheerful He to suffering goes,
That He His foes from thence might free.
In life, no house, no home
My Lord on earth might have;
In death no friendly tomb
But what a stranger gave.
What may I say? Heavn was His home;
But mine the tomb wherein He lay.
Here might I stay and sing,
No story so divine;
Never was love, dear King!
Never was grief like Thine.
This is my Friend, in Whose sweet praise
I all my days could gladly spend.

When I was a little girl, that yell made me laugh
Magistral.
MAY THE ETERNAL GOD, JESUS CHRIST, THE SAVIOR, FREE ME FROM ALL KINDS OF PRISONS, AND FORGIVE MY SINS!
Someone else moved to tears ... 😭😭😭😭???? Sunday 04.08.2024 🇮🇹-16:25
The Coen brothers borrowed heavily from this film in making, " O, Brother, Where Art Thou?"
I wanna dog like that one day!!!
So memorable! Surprised they haven't done a remake of this film
Eerie.
Equal right to all people amen Glory to God
Yee Haw! Ride That Doggy!
His yell was in “lady play your mandolin”
She was bat-shit crazy, but Veronica Lake was great in this movie.
This is a classic example of how early black Gospel music was heavily influenced by the Operatic composers of the old world. Old time Gospel singer were actually classically trained which is evident in this clip. This man could have had a massive career as an operatic basso profondo.
Самое лучшее исполнение, Go Down Moses ! Лучше нет !
It was nice that Preston didn't stereotype the church members...and he show equality in the movie.
Preston was a genius and a master of movie making.
We are all God's children weather we live in a house or not.
So moving. I want to cry. And I don't even know what is going on.
Какое сокровище ! ❤❤❤
Stunning beautiful Veronica sending all my love to you jimi
I am deeply inspired.
Awesome!!
That's love
The best all around movie
Joe, don't be like that. They don't want you in.
Just look at the fact the even harden criminals had respect for the House of God. Wow how times have changed
You are real problem. You are too quick to judge and too slow to forgive and accept
Man this is a very powerful scene right here.
I used to run around imitating Joe E. Brown's yell when I was six or seven and they played his old movies on TV.
Somebody show this to that idiot Kanye. Or any other bigot
Wow...I've never seen anything like it. Fantastic.
neeto
The angelically beautiful one & only Veronica lake !
The one & only beautiful Veronica Lake !
Wow. What a great time in history when there was unification in our Lord.
I love it when old movies surprise you with respect for minorities.
It's Humanity not race! Now get some humility! ❤🇺🇸❤
Comedy has come a long way since this
Wow isn't that something? The real children of ISRAEL singing for the ones who oppress them.
That yell cracked me up since I was a kid.
Epic Scene. Surprised this movie hasn't been remade.
One thing mightily wrong about this scene. Very deceiving!
Dogs, even big dogs like Newfoundlands, are not made to be ridden. The muscles in their backs can't support the weight of any child. The muscles in a dog's back are not strong enough and are not designed to carry a passenger and could be damaged by this activity.

One of my Favorite Movies and Movie Scene’s…..
BUT IN THE INSANE STRUGGLE TO MAKE A BUCK LOVE KINDNESS AND COMPASSION WERE SENT PACKING QUITE A WHILE AGO. WE NEED TO INVITE THEM BACK INTO.OUR HOMES AND INTO OUR LIVES
Gene Autry > The Wiggles
Oscar Wilde, who had his own issues said, "Every saint had a past, and every sinner has a future."
I’m a quote glutton, but I’d forgotten that one. Kind of magnanimous for Wilde 😊 That’s going on my tombstone.
@@frankiebowie6174 I think he understood it better than most
A good quote.
WHAT A MOVING SCENE!!! THE ACTOR PLAYING THE REVEREND SHOULD HAVE WON AN OSCAR. I WONDER IF DR KING ( AGE 12 THEN) EVER SAW THIS?
Are we supposed to think that all these chain gang convicts are innocent and therefore like slaves? Or are we supposed to think that making criminals work is slavery?
Chalk this up to me being a youngster but what the hell was this guy’s appeal? The yell? Half of today’s comedians are loud and obnoxious as their gimmick, but at least most of them use the volume to add to or emphasize their jokes, not as the punchline itself. Idk. Maybe I’m just too modern to get why this guy was a headliner.
He's a human Air Raid Siren!!
