So for me, i got into Fate the first time through Prisma Illya. So i had that very cheerfull and happy version of Illya that just lived a happy and normal life with friends and going to elementary school. I know it's unrelated to this video but the point is, when i first heard of UBW and what happens to her there, i was kinda schocked(also since many people seemed to find it good bc of the visual novel and what she does to Shirou which is relatable) that Gilgamesh brutally murdered her. But when watching Stay Night and Heavens Feel, i got the feeling that she was just a bit lost. To this time she grew on me as character because she's interesting. With UBW when her flashback dropped i even more understood her. Not saying it's right what she does in the Bad Endings or to order Beserker to kill Shirou and Rin or even saying that he should violate i think Rin and Saber. She wasn't evil but only didn't know what was right or wrong. She was trapped in the Einzbern Castle, unable to see her father, was tortured and had to endure a lot's of pain, only used as a tool, heck even thrown out into the wild during winter as a test. I also think they kept it a secret of her that after Zero, Kiritsugu in fact tried to return to the Einzbern Castle to see Illya but wasn't allowed to by the Einzberns.

As someone planning to read the Remaster in Japanese - is it different to the original? Cannot find a single thing on the JP side of the internet about it. I loved Nasu's writing style in Tsukihime, this better not be some weird rewrite.

I kind of dislike this mentality that adaptations, specifically VN adaptations, are almost always are inferior versions of the original and should be avoided or not made in the first place. Adaptations, especially in regards to VNs, light-novels or manga in large part exist to advertise the original. I have heard of manga and light novel to anime adaptations that had extremely weak Blu-ray sales, but were still seen as financial successes because the original works had a massive increase in sales. Even the 'non-existant' Tsukihime anime had a strong positive influence that is largely ignored, in that it made a lot of people more aware of the Type-Moon brand, had more people check out the original, and likely even helped provide TM funding to make FSN the game it was released as. A modern, good Tsukihime anime would serve a lot less purpose today than the 2003 anime because TM and their works at this point need no introduction.

While I don't consider myself a "proshipper" nor an "antishipper" since I think arguing over fictional characters is dumb and will only do more damage to people's mental health, what I do dislike about the debate about "problematic" media is how it takes away attention from real issues that affect real people. I have seen reports of actual CSA organizations BEGGING people to leave fiction alone because people keep on submitting random fanart instead of, you know, ACTUAL reports of CSA. We could be helping real victims of CSA and r*pe, but no, let"s focus on arguing over a bunch of pixels on the screen. I think it's fine for you to be disgusted over this sort of content (I'm sex-repulsed so I know that feeling very well) but are we really going to crucify someone over characters who, at the end of the day, aren't even real, when we could be focusing on saving young girls from potential, real predators? I believe that we should be able to enjoy "problematic media" as long as we can acknowledge the "problematic" aspect(s) being a bad thing. However, we should absolutely understand and recognize the nuance that comes with the "problematic" stuff and learn more about its history and the people who enjoy it, instead of treating it as 100% evil and bad because you don't know anything about it Also let's be honest there is no such thing as "unproblematic media." Every piece of fiction is "problematic" one way or another P.S - I liked how you talk about Monogatari. It's one of my favorite Shaft works alongside PMMM, but I've been scared to tell people about my love for the series because of the "problematic" stuff you highlighted in this video. Keep up the great work!

Btw sleepy crest. I think a more sutable series instead of Kodomo no jikan in terms of problematic media, would be tsumashou shogakusei ni naru because of the title but it’s such a sad series

Humanity can't thank you enough for doing justice to Kodomo no Jikan. Even though some of it's fanservice scenes were distasteful, the story still developed into something decent thanks to authors masterful adaptability and soul put into their work and I'm very glad that someone had the courage to stand up for it and for other such quality works and for authors oppressed by the community for trying to touch an unconventional topic.

Cut/unfinished content of type moon media really hurts my soul. I adore Tsukihime and Fate/stay night but the things that could have been have always left a sour taste in my mouth, especially when they were only cut due to time/budgetary constraints. Illya is a sad case, I love her character yet I feel we get just enough to bring me to the point where i'm left craving more but not given enough to be satisfied. Honestly, the worst part is that stay night will likely never get a remake, since unlike tsukihime, its flaws are far fewer and those that are there aren't worth remaking, as well as fate being so established at this point as to where a remake could damage the built up timeline, which is why I hoped the remaster could be more than just an upscaling and translation. It's amazing that we got a remaster and an official english translation, yet the fact that we likely will never get another remaster due to the fact we have one is saddening. I want to see a complete sakura route and a complete illya route. Sorry if this comes off as incoherent rambling ripe with mispellings and poor grammar, it's 2am and i'm already prone to both of those in the first place.
