“Where is Your Faith?”
Luke 8:22-26
25 But He said to them, "Where is your faith?" And they were afraid, and marveled, saying to one another, "Who can this be? For He commands even the winds and water, and they obey Him!" 26 Then they sailed to the country of the Gadarenes, which is opposite Galilee.
It appears to me that the main purpose of Luke sharing this experience of the disciples in the boat with Jesus going to the other side is to show us how that Jesus was teaching His disciples to live by faith. If they were going to going to obey His command to go into all the world and “disciple all the nations” (Matthew 28:19), they would need a great faith! And my friend, the same is true for us today!
The source and object of their faith, Jesus, was in the boat with them all along! Did you notice that the storm with the terrible wind and waves had brought great fear upon the disciples! They thought sure they were going to perish! But when Jesus calmed the wind and waves, and He asked them the question, “Where is your faith?”, we read, “And they were afraid, and marveled, saying to one another, “Who can this be”. I believe they were overwhelmed with the fact that they were in the presence of the Omnipotent God and they were afraid!
Think about it! The very God Who spoke the universe into existence, Who created the heavens and the earth, Who spoke and there was light, Who spoke and there was animals, Who spoke and there was plant life, Who spoke and breathe into a hunk of clay and there was a man, the Great I Am, was the same voice that the disciples heard in the boat that day! “And they were afraid” and they said, “Who can this be”. I’m not sure they fully understood who Jesus really was until after His death, burial and resurrection and the Holy Spirit came upon them fully opening their eyes to the deity of Jesus Christ! But after that they were willing to go into all the world sharing His message and die for Him.
They were leaning that they needed the “look of faith”. “Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith”. (Hebrews 12:2). “By faith, Moses saw Him who was invisible” (Hebrews 11:27). That they needed the “walk of faith”. “For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). That they needed the “work of faith”. “By faith Noah built an ark…” (Hebrews 11:7). “Without works, faith is dead” (James 2:26). This would produce a “life of faith” that would change the world! (2 Corinthians 4:16- 18).
Jesus might be asking you today, “Where is your faith?” We need to remember that, “Faith comes by hearing and hearing from the Word of God” (Romans 10:17). I’m convinced that the Lord primarily uses two things to build and increase our faith. Learning Who Jesus, the Word, really is by hearing, reading, studying, and mediating on the Written Word, the Bible. Then God uses the storms and the trials of life to expose and reveal to us what kind of faith we really have. These will drive us to “wake up” Jesus in our lives and find Him in His Word. These storms will motivate us to spend time every day with Jesus in His Word.
As we are coming to the close of an old year and preparing for the new year, I want to challenge you to “increase your faith” by determining, by God’s grace, to read through your whole Bible from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21 in a systematic and consistent way! Jesus said that man does not live by bread alone, but by “every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4). 2 Timothy 3:16-17 also teaches us that: “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
“Every Word, All Scripture, which means every Word in our Bible is needed for us to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ and to increase our faith! To help and assist you in fulfilling this challenge to read though your entire Bible in 2025, we have prepared a Bible reading calendar plan that is posted to our website each month.
We have posted two plans. Plan B will take you through the entire Bible once and only take 10 plus minutes a day: www.pmiministries.org/bible-reading-calendar-plan-b
Plan A will take you through the Old Testament once and the New Testament twice and take about 15 plus minutes a day: www.pmiministries.org/daily-bible-reading-calendar
These can be downloaded and printed for your convenience!
Where will your faith be next year? It is up to you!

Amen pastor, so very true despite what others are preaching today. Thank you for your wonderful Testimony and your example to so many of us through many years.
Spot on message pastor, absolutely JESUS wants us to launch out.
WOW!! What a challenging and conviction message and you are the one that back in 1979 that God used in Ginny and my life to be a part of missions. Also was praying this morning, a neighbor not more than 300 feet from where I live is also my challenge to get in the boat with Jesus and to share at Christmas season as we celebrate the most important Birthday ever in history! JESUS
Great challenge to get in the boat and our responsibilities to getting The Gospel to the billions that have never heard.

Amen pastor and great truth and I am thankful and grateful that God’s Word feel on the good soil of my heart and with age, God has given me more eternal vision and all bragging rights, go to Calvary!
Great explanation of salvation and there is no decision in life that compares. All other things are temporary and salvation is eternal. Thank you for your example for the many years with transcendence from God’s Word.
I have used this many times in exactly like you have explained and sometimes it takes a long time to see where the seed has fallen, but if The Word fell on good ground, in time there will be fruit. Truth be known, I am one that experienced it but oh how I thank God, His Word fell on the good soil. Thank you, and thank for you, for your investment and encouragement in my life since 1979
Can you imagine being in the audience where JESUS is speaking. I can only imagine and conviction would have to be ever so real if spiritual hungry. I so much enjoy your messages on these chats.
Your encouragement and enthusiasm speaks volumes for THE CAUSE OF CHRIST I count it a privilege and honor to bow my knee and confess with my mouth that JESUS IS KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS!🙌🙌

I can’t even fathom the agony that Jesus went through for such an unworthy sinner as I, and not only for me but took He took on sin for all who will put there trust in Him as there personal Savior. WHAT A SAVIOR, WHAT A FRIEND!🙌🙌
Just wanted to asked how Little Luke is doing? Think of him often. Thank you for the devotionals each day.
Indeed JESUS is The Great Shepherd and I am grateful and humbled to be one of His sheep.

Good preaching and I do believe God and how grateful that I am that Jesus paid my sin debt in full, as far as the east is from the west, he took away my sins. WHAT A SAVIOR, WHAT A FRIEND!🙌🙌
I like your saying, believing with doubt is not out of the ordinary. And only Jesus can change a heart. Thank you pastor Mike.
Indeed, everything does change when we come to Jesus. Can you imagine what it was like to be an eyewitness when Jesus raised the young dead man to life.
You are so right, that when we submit to God’s authority, we are set free from bondage. Thanks for sharing and I pray you have a wonderful day.
The mark is coming soon in months perhaps I will not submit to the mark on the right hand
Great truth from God’s Word and I surely don’t pass all the test but want to be believe that God is allowing me to have a better grade with age, but remembering it all comes from Him. Thank you pastor and I pray you and your family have a wonderful day also as I continue to pray especially for little Luke and you all in these tough times.
Thank GOD, my foundation is built upon The Solid Rock of JESUS and nothing else.
I just finished reading Bounds book on prayer and the preacher and how well your message is spot on with his teachings.

Good preaching pastor, preach on. Continued prayers for little Luke
Great formula for our everyday life pastor. Thanks for sharing Truth and encouragement daily.
Great reminder that even though God’s challenges are not easy but still don’t change the truth of His Word. Thanks for sharing truth and challenges.
Thank you pastor for your faithfulness to God’s Word as just last night sharing with a preacher friend, this very message that I remember from you or the principal of it in the late 70’s, God’s Word is always true.
Amen pastor and pray that God would give us a bigger hunger for things that last forever versus temporary things.
As the finish line gets closer, these truths become so much clearer. Thank you for sharing God’s Truth and encouragement.
Timely message, Mike! Thanks
Amen!! True joy can only come from JESUS!🙌🙌
Spot on message and never before so true. Thanks for the encouragement.
