    This is exactly what I’ve been thinking about lately! I feel that, even more so than a strong advantage state, a strong disadvantage state can unlock so much of a player’s potential. “Don’t get hit.” It’s as simple as the famous saying.

    My internal monologue while playing is really, REALLY, simple. I am just saying what the opponent is doing, and hearing that articulated makes their habits and patterns more obvious... And I am making sounds in my head like I have meme brainrot. I don't seem to care about how I'm performing WHILE I am performing, and have to watch the footage to evaluate it later. In the moment I am just noticing things like "This guy drop down double jumps from ledge and then nairs. This guy dash attacks and jumps when it misses. Bonk. We tech those. Up a stock, you know the vibes."

    • @joel-o4020
      @joel-o4020 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I remember DKBill would have something similar. He would point out the opponent’s habits, but not say how to counter. He would let his subconscious handle the counterplay afterwards.

    • @WarningStrangerDanger
      @WarningStrangerDanger 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@joel-o4020 I can't help but think that the optimal inner monologue would be focused only on what the opponent is doing to try to predict what they are thinking or attempting. I remember watching Zer0 play with eye-tracking and he wasn't looking at his character much at all. He was locked in on the opponent the whole time.

    • @silver_cck
      @silver_cck หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey, thanks for watching! Unfortunately, I don't have the time in my schedule to be able to create a thorough breakdown like that. Currently, my video scheduling will include more broad topics that are widely applicable, and perhaps in the future I may do some character MU notes, but likely for my mains (Pit/Wii Fit Trainer). Right now though, I have to keep my video content relatively simple. If you would like me to provide some tips for the MUs, I can see what I can do. who do you main? Ness and Lucas are a bit different, but both have a strong set of buttons and setups that you have to be wary of.

    Your GSP? I'm just curious, just to get an indication of the level you play at. I think the analytical approach is solid, and it's definitely not talked about enough. Most videos focus on giving raw concrete advice, which is useful but for people to really level up they have to also think about the game themselves

    • @silver_cck
      @silver_cck หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching! I don't play on Elite Smash much, but my highest is 14.4 mil. What might be a better indicator though is that I am ranked 1st in my region (Alberta, Canada) and regularly travel for smash tournaments outside of my province. I have a couple of wins on top 100 LumiRank players as well. It would not be a stretch to say that I could be top 15 in Canada, but there is no official ranking Canada-wide like that, so it's merely speculation. Majority of the concepts that I present as coaching content are observations that I have made over the course of my own development as a player. Hopefully that helps to give you an idea!

    • @Bladieblah
      @Bladieblah หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@silver_cck Thanks, just from that you're very solid and better than certain other coaches that I have seem have succes (Meta of Smash, Jtails) who really don't have the better competitive players much to offer. That being said, at that high GSP every 10k and even single k of points matter, so it'd be nice to know the number down to 14.4xx even if you don't play elite much

    • @icebaby6324
      @icebaby6324 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Gsp is a horrible gauge of skill. The punishment/reward weights for winning or losing are based on variables and player history that frequently make incredibly important games where you grow as a player completely nullified, or cheesy games where a loser with a horrible connection, cheesy strategy, and rules set to two stock, or 3 min, could change your score by hundreds of thousands. As a player with multiple characters in the 14 millions, never focus on GSP. Play for fun, or play to grow. Gsp will eventually come as a result of your practice and your ability to statistically win enough for the unfair punishments to matter a little less. but it’s no judge of skill.

    • @SSJPENGUIN
      @SSJPENGUIN หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@icebaby6324Whilst GSP today's borderline meaningless, 2018 GSP had a fun novelty to it & wish they'd left it's formula alone

    • @Bladieblah
      @Bladieblah หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@icebaby6324 The fact losses weigh so heavily is exactly what makes GSP a reliable ranking system, that's the nature of an elo style system. If it would be more lenient it would be a measure of playtime rather than a measure of skill, and many ranking systems both in and outside of fighting games actually suffer from being too lenient and being play time measurements rather than measurements of skill. What GSP tracks is your consistency over players with a lower GSP than yours, and those players have a certain consistency over players lower rater than them. It's effectively a win ratio you need to maintain over people with a particular skill level, it doesn't become more fair and skill based than that. To say that GSP does not measure skill properly is to say having a strong win loss ratio is meaningless, it's absurd. As for bad rulesets, they are one in 50 at best, more like one in 100 or 150, and connection should be playable if you have LAN. Let me explain why having characters in the 14 millions doesn't mean a whole lot, only having them 14.3m high or 14.4m+ means something. As I said previously, every 10k and single thousand of GSP matters at the top of the ranking. This starts to be the case around 14.286.000 GSP. The skill difference between someone ranked 14.300k and 14.286k is much larger than someone ranked 14.286k and someone ranked 14.000.000. And this only gets exponentially more extreme. At 14.410k you don't gain any rating points for 14.150k opponents meaning that no matter how strong your record is, you can't compensate losses against those players. And for losses against 14.286k and slightly below you need to win 16:1 or more to compensate for a single loss against that level of player. None of those ratio's every apply at lower levels of GSP. It can't be understated how much better you need to be than the floor of 14.286k to maintain such a high GSP. I do agree that playing for fun or to improve is the right mindset instead of playing for points, but that is a separate issue from whether the ranking system is fair and accurate. Yes, the ranking is fair and accurate but focusing purely on results rather than the quality of your play will be detrimental, or just not be fun if you become too rank obsessed.
