I lived in Cave Sping in the 1970s, about a mile as the crow flies from Rocky Mount. We moved back to Roanoke in 1972, after leaving for Harrisonburg in 1966. Virginia Heights elementary was segregated when i started 1st grade in 1962.
Incredible.
Lovely pictorial! Thank you! We purchased 912 Dale Ave., SE. Ours is a farmhouse built in 1890. Any photographs?
My home town .☺️
Can't wait to hear Penny Blue, she has a lot of great stories to tell, very impactful history.
In a hundred years, this entire "only black lives matter" fiasco will be considered this generation's Salem witch trial moment.
Grew up in Roanoke and cannot think of a better place to have done so in.
Unfortunately for this …..
Is that the fire station on Memorial at Raleigh Court?
Thanks for Posting....
@ 4:35 - From Merriam-Webster: decentennial "The word you've entered isn't in the dictionary." Please explain. Decennial means occurring every 10 years, so maybe that's what they meant. I wasn't even going to ask about "parage"

reconciliation of our people? Not possible!
The two modern factions will never come together because of a direct dichotomy of purpose. Constitutionalists invest taxes and expect a return. The others (including mcconnell republicans) divest taxes and don’t even ask for a receipt. Institutionalizing taxes enables others to 'promote the general welfare'. Contrarily, socialism (With midnight hand shake deals) focuses on non-contributors who expect the successful to 'provide the general welfare'. Give away money with zero expectations and that is exactly what you will get in return, zero!
Yankees and Southerners are two completely different critters. Like comparing cats and dogs! We'll never see eye to eye on. anything.
Thank you for your time on earth gusler….
I would enjoyed being there to see this Presentation by a great Historian.
