I saw George Jones come out of the Holiday Inn in 1979 on a Sunday morning from the restaurant at Carencro, Louisiana, George was very thin and he look old, George carried a leather briefcase, I was sitting in my mother’s Lincoln town’s car, George didn’t walk straight to his room, he stood a few feet away from me, George then walked up the stairs to his room which was next to our room, my aunt got a autograph, he said “he was heading to Oklahoma, I remember he had a old Eagle bus, I remember I had watched Tom Petty sing “refuge” on Saturday Night live in our room the night before, I was 17 years old and excited to see a real Country Star, later by accident I accidentally ran into George at Monroe’s Louisiana fair on a Friday night, it had rained and he did some mini shows under a tent with few people there, he looked healthy and Nancy was there, I didn’t know George would be singing for free and he was excellent, He didn’t look frail or haggard, he is the only person in Country music I ran into by accident besides Freddy Fender at a casino parking lot

the only person she put down was his children, drug dealers, business people who wanted his money, all I can say is “George was estranged from them for most of their lives because he was 99% George Jones, so of course there were problems?

I met Mac Davis in a bad situation. A lady in front of him slammed on her brakes because she missed her turn. He bumped her and I bumped him. When he got out of the car and I recognized him, I tried to lighten the situation by saying, “Of all the people in Los Angeles I could’ve crashed into, it had to be one of my heroes.” (It was true. I grew up with his music, as most of us did.) He was a gentleman throughout the ordeal and always called me buddy. He even told me a story about when he bought his first car with the money he earned from writing “In the Ghetto” for Elvis. He called it his “Elvis car”. He said he was driving down the street one day “looking at a girl’s rear end walking along the sidewalk instead of the rear end of the car in front of me” (as he put it) and didn’t see it had stopped until it was too late. He caused a lot of damage to that car, and he had only had it for a month or two. He probably told me that to make me feel better about running into him. As the old saying goes, the best way to know someone’s true character is to see how they behave in a bad situation, and how they treat someone who can’t do anything for them. By both measures, Mac was an absolute prince. I cried when he died like he was a good friend. The best artists make you feel that way. Rest in peace, buddy.

What worries me is that there's women who are married to drunks and druggie they think they can fx. Nancy didn't take his demons away, George did. One thing ALANon says is, who has that kind of power? and they stress how arrogant that is. Nancy was addicted to rhe addict. "I had to get rid of them."demons) Hers is a very rare story. I'm not liking her being negative about others in his family before her. Leave that alone. I also feel it's too dangerous for women. to stay in any relationship if a man hits. I don't care what sweet side he has sober.

With all due respect if George told Nancy to kill them with kindness (enemies) than why are you not treating his biological children with kindness? Those children were severely neglected by George because of his addictions. They must have grown up feeling unloved by him. For that alone he owed them a debt of unconditional love not further estrangement. Something is not right about this .... Kill them with kindness Nancy and reconcile with them. They are still his children! Those little children he neglected are still within them and need healing.😢 Family dynamics can be very difficult. I have no issue with putting firm boundaries in place but complete estrangement is not ok.

I don’t believe much of this, why no mention of the adopted grandson, yet no relationship with his own sons. Her & Richey sound a lot alike. I believe George still loved Tammy, it was obvious the way he looked at her. The accident in 1999 was the defining moment for George, he said he made a deal with God to never smoke or drink again. Ultimately the alcoholic is the one that gets sober. I wonder what George would think about this, I can’t imagine George talking bad about Tammy.

@@SuzyQ1956I have the same question about no nention of his biological children. Plus she states she didn't watch past the first episode but calls all of it lies lies lies. I don't think Nancy is a bad person and she probably was a good wife to George but the complete estrangement of his children is not right. Especially considering that George's motto to people who upset you was "kill them with kindness." Both renditions are probably true. George probably minimized his sexual energy with Tammy on stage because he didn't want to hurt Nancy. George and Tammy probably fought once they were off stage to manage their own feelings toward each other. When they perform together on stage the attraction is alive. It's hard to deny!
