Wild Fisheries Fund Ayrshire Rivers Trust Habitat Improvement
The Ayrshire Rivers Trust have been working hard to improve the habitats of rivers around Ayrshire including the Mauchline and Brockloch Burns. Supported through our Wild Fisheries Fund, the work is to improve the habitat for salmon spawning and young fish. Other wildlife including trout also benefit from their efforts to improve and preserve the stability and water quality of the rivers. By stopping erosion of riverbanks and building fencing around the rivers for protection, the rivers can support wild salmon populations as well as other wildlife.

Many thanks for your excellent work in repairing the salmon and trout populations in Ayrshire. Question: If the cattle had easy to use water trough's next tot he burn why would they use the burn bank to drink ? and in doing so raising sediment etc

All these burns have been straightened. This would have been to increase field size, more subsidies!! It’s a crime what farmers have done in the desire for more tax payers money…

The streams seem very straight. They must have meandered in their original form. Is there an intention to widen the riparian strip to allow this?

Canadian here we have Beavers on our land and Beavers are everywhere. Wonderful! Keep planting those willows that your Beavers would like and then let some Beavers loose. They'll do a better job. Beavers are not too hard to manage and the benefits are incredible!

It stops cattle from leaning on it and causing damage.

That’s very cool with what you are doing with erosion on the river. I live on Cape Cod,Massachusetts and we do the same thing with Christmas trees on the beaches and the National Seashore to fight erosion.

You forgot to mention the poisonous perticide that goes on salmon feeding pallets that makes farm raised salmon unfit for human consumption.

You’re having a laugh. If they are crammed in at up to 20kg per cubic metre or at the least (RSPCA Assured limit),17kg per m3, that’s like keeping a grilse in my bath!
Are these carotenoids ALL naturally sourced? Where from?
Is there astaxanthin in that feed?
