*The city of Badajoz is often nicknamed "La Puerta de España" (The Gateway to Spain). This nickname is due to its strategic position near the border with Portugal and its historical role as an entry and defense point for the country*
Badajoz, a spanish city located in the region of Extremadura, derives its name from the Arabic "Batalyaws" (بَطَلْيَوْس), which itself might come from an earlier Latin name, "Pax Augusta". This etymology reflects the city's rich history, rooted in both its Arabic and Roman origins.
The Roman origins of Badajoz date back to when the region was an integral part of the Roman province of Lusitania. The Romans brought their culture, infrastructure, and urban planning, remnants of which still exist today. Later, with the arrival of the Arabs in the 8th century, Badajoz became an important center of Islamic culture. The city flourished under the Aftasid dynasty and left a notable architectural heritage, including the Alcazaba, a fortress that still dominates the city.
For visitors, Badajoz offers a rich array of sites to explore. The Alcazaba of Badajoz is a must-see, offering panoramic views of the city and its surroundings. Next, the Plaza Alta, with its colorful houses and arcades, is an ideal place for a leisurely stroll. The Cathedral of San Juan Bautista also deserves a visit for its Gothic and Baroque architecture.
Outside the city, a short distance away, the medieval village of Alburquerque with its Luna Castle offers an enriching excursion. Mérida, another historic city known for its spectacular Roman ruins, is also accessible for a day visit.

The Orava Castle is one of the greatest castles of all time I really wanted to go and visit the castle the Orava Castle was a favourite castle of mine it became my favourite when it was using for The 1922 Film Nosferatu A Symphony Of Horror one of the greatest films and one of my favourite Dracula films of all time in the film it was used for many scenes but the Orava Castle is still the greatest castle of all time

Even if Bran Castle doesn't lack interest, Nosferatu Castle is much more sinister and, definitely, worthy of a horror movie.)

If you want to go to Valencia, I advise you to visit it in April, it's cooler, the tourist season is not yet at its peak and there are *Semana Santa* and *Las Fallas*. Two nice events in this city!
