I was just musing to myself the other day when you would be posting something else. I really appreciate the reasoned tempo in the Toccata. Some performers make it an issue of "how fast can I play this". Such a wonderful organ, too. You all are very lucky to have it there.
PHENOMENAL as always Aidan! This is one of my absolute favorite works of Bach, and you really outdid yourself with this fabulous performance!
Cheers!
Where you added the new pieces, is that still on the 4x8 or did you have to extend it?
Granted your layout is smaller than mine and I stayed with the postwar type layout idea But on my layout I haven’t actually drilled and wire holes into the table just incase I decide to move or add anything. Which adding has definitely happened. All my wires just come up from edges of the layout near whatever it is for. Luckily by using the style where the red and black wires are surrounded by a gray outer shell (speaker wire I think it is) It actually ended up having a really cool look seeing the wires
Most engaging and informative practice I've ever heard. Great you recorded and are sharing it. Enjoyed all 55 minutes of it straight through. Impeccable interpretations, excellent registration and demonstration of a nice and not so well known Cavaillé-Coll. Gorgeous celestes indeed. A+ audio. Thanks.
the vibe of this video is great, i know it's been a year but i'll definitely be watching the full series

Found your channel through this video and I really enjoy your narration and video style. The high prices of model railroading don't justify the rewards of getting into this hobby. Steer wide and clear of the peoples encouraging you to get involved in this money trap.
@@rogermartin404 Don’t spend what you don’t have - this is the philosophy I subscribe to when it comes to building a layout and buying things for it. It takes a disciplined budget and patience (especially when there are other priorities to budget for family and home), but then it does make for a rewarding hobby that can be enjoyed by more than just myself.
Amazing use of space. Is there an over head shot of the layout looking down on it

Thank you not only for the tips but your outlook and philosophy, run the trains, share the experience, 4x8 is plenty of space, saw dust adds ambiance .... I am going back and watching the series from the start. Is you track O or O-27?
Thanks for coming along on the ride! Hope you enjoy the series and its evolution. I am using O gauge track…in fact I didn’t even know there was a difference in the track until I bought the trestles for the upper loop (Episode 3 I think?) where I ended up getting a mix of O and O27 trestles and had to make do!
Nice! new sub.
Enjoy the hobby. I used to say there is never enough room. One day I realized creativity always seeks a outlet and several layouts resulted one never remaining long. with a new beginning. This creation we live in is for one week . Ponder that, a day unto God is as 1,000 years onto man and then all of creation is done away and a new world is made. If a spouse or relative thinks your obsessed with your creation destruction and recreation tell them you inherited it .
I like your thinking! I would be lying if I said I’ve not also thought of building our miniature worlds as an extension of God’s own creation of the world. If man is made in the “imago Dei,” then it follows that we create these worlds and stories and characters in them.
@@aidan-hill Enjoy.
One reason I'm a fan of MTH's Railking locomotives, you get a modern locomotive with all the bells and whistles (please excuse the pun), but can still negotiate the tight curves of a traditional style layout. Speaking of, it's nice to see a traditional style layout for a change when all the buzz seems to be about doing big (and expensive) scale layouts. Have an O-27 one myself, have a tiny train room and had the make the most of the real estate.
100% agree on the point about simple small layouts versus the big ones. One day I would like to build something for my Legacy engines, but even then, I’m envisioning something like a shelf layout with two loops and scenery on the edge. Some of those big layouts really are beautiful works of art, but it also does fuel a certain kind of FOMO I think…which is not healthy especially given the price point of the hobby. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed building this layout because the small space does really demand creative use of every inch, plus the end is much closer in sight - it’s not an impossible task to “finish” it. And frankly, I can count on these vintage pieces continuing their longevity with the build quality. I mean, do we really appreciate how some of these trains and accessories still operate 60, 70, 80 years after production?
Well, the manufacturers fuel the FOMO to some degree, some more than others, as at the end of the day they're trying to sell product. I like my modern equipment just fine, some of the features are quite amazing, but I'm equally impressed that my eldest tinplate engine is 94 years old and still running strong. With good care and maintenance it will likely keep going long after I'm gone. What I really like are all the operating accessories, something you just don't see in the other scales anymore. Guess I'm a big kid at heart, but I get a big kick out of loading up logs and sending them over to the sawmill to be hewn into the little boards, having real coal to load and dump out, mailbags to pick up and drop off, a water tower with real water in it for the steam engines, milk cans to be unloaded at the dairy, reefers to be iced down with little cubes of ice, and so on.
Always loved the Santa Fe Northerns! I remember first seeing them in a book
Great additions
I think your layout is coming along well. I like what you have done so far. You have shown us that a good O gauge layout can be built in a small space. Keep us posted on your scenery progress. Thanks for sharing.
I've been setting mine railroad for the last 3 months. Running two trains. Been fun. I got it from my dad in 1954. I waa 8. I'm now 77. Same train

Très belle prise de son
Marvellous sound, well registered and excellent tempi. Maybe some more articulation in the prelude and terracing dynamics might bring out the majesty of this piece; then in the fugue the same can apply especially in the solo manual sections. But over all a steady and convincing performance 😊
I gotta build a tunnel on my layout now too!
I’m not even a Lionel train hobbyist, but these videos were so charming to watch that I binged the whole playlist 😅
There's always a certain degree of fascination with a tunnel, and it's not a postwar layout unless it has a tunnel. You've done a very nice job on yours.
Thank you!
I thought it was about building a layout. I must have pressed the wrong button.
You really did such an amazing job Aidan!! It was an honor to help and I'm glad I can watch the slides now :D

Great addition for the Vigil and the arrangement is superb. The Schola singers are masters of this music - it is great when traditional chants can have new life with modern arrangements and interpretations. I will keep this in mind for next year. Thank you, Aidan.
How stirring and marvelous - I love how the chant introduced the penultimate Easter Hymn. The stops you chose for the hymn were majestic!! Well Done.
Thanks for the history, and the background information. I saw there you had a pliers with a groove there near the tip. Did you make that part of the tool or did you buy it that way? The only ones I have bought were former long nose pliers and then don't have the strength, but they do work to fix the end of the track so the pins fit well. As for your track cleaning, just be aware many of the older and some modern Lionel use magnetic wheels on the engine or have DC can motors in the power trucks. They will pick up any metal particles and get into the gears and the motors and ruin them quickly. The better cleaner to use is scotch brite and pads like them that are not metal, and then vacuum up or wipe up well any cleaning residue..
Thanks a bunch for the tips on track cleaning! Hadn’t thought about the danger of little metal bits getting caught up…as for the pliers, they did indeed come with that little notch in them.
@@aidan-hill Thanks for the reply. Any idea where you got the special pliers?
