Virginia Rosalyn Souza Pena, a first generation Cape Verdean Cape Codder, was born in 1927 and is a life long resident of the Town of Harwich. Her parents were Elvira Rose and Joseph Souza. These are the tales collected from Caboverdianos of today that have their origins rooted in 500 years of tradition. While most of our written history has been told through the Portuguese colonizers, whom we owe much of our history to; these oral lores tell the history of a distinct people whose story stretch five centuries and counting.
