Set up your entire sugarwoods with south facing lines
Tubing guru Dan Crocker of Westminster West, Vt. says he has his entire woods-22,000 taps-set up so all lines and drops are facing south. The sun will hit them early in the morning, breaking up ice dams and keeping an open highway to the releaser. He offers a couple tricks to help keep those lines exposed to the sun.

Vermont sugarmakers boil in early December
Very interesting! It seems like you would have to do some serious volume (tens of thousands) to justify purchasing this device. You might break even at 2000 taps.
Most installers will rent out this device or you can contact your CDL dealer
Excellent Idea and application.
Got a link of the product he uses?
One pump is running faster, i wonder what the performance difference is
Did that arch start off as an Inferno? Looks very similar to ours. If so, you're doing an extra 20 GPH than we are (same pans)
No it is all custom. It is based off a CDL Intensofire. We also have a preheater and the bubbler adds to the rate also
Thanks for the reply! Nice rig for sure, something to be proud of. Hope you have a great 2025 season!
That is a pretty slick rig right there.
Ah thats what he was talking about at the NAMSC meetings. Pretty cool!
What´s about the evaporated water and it´s enthalpie of condensation? Does the machine use a heat-exchanger?
Im new to using a candy machine and I have to say this is a great video. Simple and to the point. Thanks for putting this video on!
But then how do you get the water out of the smaller ball valve?
Clever idea for a low-pressure system, by the way.
what are taps?
What is the Vacuum Like at the end of the Mainline with the 4 diaphragm Guzzler?

What is the electricity cost at the time of the video?
Cool video - Duane's an excellent resource!
it would be good to know what liquid defoamer he is using. Is it Diatomaceous Earth? Is it something that must be filtered out with a vacuum system...meaning can the hobbyist use it and not have to worry about its making the filtering process even harder? Thank you
Never considered this, thanks for the video!
Also, I checked my PPM meter that I have for my deionized water system for washing cars and my number for my permeate from my RO is .009. Thanks Fred
Those bag holders a $9 here and bags are $8 for 5
Another great video. So my question is is I followed another DIY Guy and made mine out of one 5 µm filter and three 150 gallon per day ro filters. I watch some of your other videos already tonight and asked a bunch of questions. My question on this is I’m taking sap it’s just over one percent with a hydrometer. They’re all red maples, and bring it up to 4 1/2 ish fairly quickly I did 20 gallons of sap in about 2 1/2 hours. Is this working OK or am I doing something wrong or is it actually filtering out what it’s supposed to be filtering my permeate is basically zero. Thanks for any input. I just want to make sure im not doing anything wrong and making bad syrup. We only make about 2to 3 gal a season and would hate for it to be not safe. Thanks again Fred
Great job 👏
Being in Ottawa Ontario Canada, where would I purchase one?
Let's hear how to turn up the rpm to 100!
Is the white diaphram FDA approved? Looking for a better diaphram for my sap pump. Thanks
