Just a tip on a more accurate way to measure toe in/out. Rather than using a tape measure or the rod you used, use an extendible tent pole and measure from the inside of the tyre both front and back rather than trying to judge the center of the tyre. Extend the pole until it touches the rear of the tyres, lock it and pencil mark the pole. Repeat the process on the front then measure between the 2 marks. It's even more accurate again if you can measure from the rims but usually there is vehicle components in the way that makes this impractical. Cheers
Thanks a good tip I will give it a try.
As a random.. always enjoy watching your adventures ! 😂
We love comments from the random viewers 😁 Glad you are enjoying the trip!
God bless the outback! 😊 Happy Christmas! 🎄
Same to you! 🎄
I keep a bottle of loctite 406 i think it is, i dunno have to check the tech specs for which one works best on procelain and glass etc. and it worked really well. Still in there today. i wont replace the windscreen under insurance as the bastards dont offer genuine glass, only chepa shit aftermarket glass.
Good idea the Rain-X kit can do up to 5 repairs so not too bad really and the plunger pushes the resin into the bullseye crack really well.
Your video was truly beautiful and inspiring. As a fellow creator, I appreciate the effort you put into it. Sub and 👍5
Thank you for the kind words. I am glad you enjoyed it.
Lovely beach and fishies 😊
Love the nugget removal system 😅
First part to wheel aligning a trailer is to triangulate axle to hitch using tape /string line . Then measure toe-in with straight edges on wheel mounting surface on drum/ disc . around .5 --1.5mm per side
Thanks for the tip, I will definitely give that a go.
I came here to check out the Stockman but was immediately drawn to the music. That bass guitar- wow! upfront and flexing ! Good stuff !
Thanks I will let Oakley know you appreciated his bass playing 😀
Always things to fix.
Carl from an Engineering viewpoint, the straighened axle is now weeker than the orignal unbent axle. - the internal stress distrubution in the shaft when initially bent made it stronger and less likely to bend again under the same load that originally bent it. - when the shaft was bent back straight, this "strengthning due to bending" was effectivly redone in the opposit direction, ie it is now weeker, less fatigue resistant and more prone to bending in the direction of the inital bending than it was both before and after the initial bend. - I strongly recomend puting the new one in, and keeping the old one as a spare. The other thing that comes to mind is that it looks like the shaft can be bolted on in any rotational direction - you could consider rotating a bent shaft by 90 degrees (yes this will muck up the camber, but that is better than bad toeout) - the other thing that could be considered as a tempory field fix, is using some structural (hardened) washersat the bolt up area to somewhat correct the alignment of a bent assembly I am a little surprised that the shop in Cairns did not consider fiting the shaft into a lathe chuck and then skim the bolt up face to correct the alignemnt. All the best with your travels
Thanks for the advice I am definitely going to swap the axel over when we get to somewhere I can work on the trailer comfortably. I was going to rotate it 90degrees if it wasn’t able to be straightened. All the best Carl.
Love the looks from Colleen while Carl is explaining the axel set up. She was so interested!
Ha ha, I think she was just fascinated by the mechanical prowess!!! 😄😄
Bananas?! 😮😁 Xx

Nice crossings and waterfall 😊
Yes, thanks
The cap is filled with Greece. The Greece lubricates your bearings
Nice video. The socket you attached to the Ryobi drill (0700) looks like for the wheel nut, is it strong enough to untighten or tighten the wheel nuts(I mean the skinny part that inserted to the drill). And where you buy the socket? Many thanks.
Yes it will do wheel nuts as it is a 19mm socket on the shaft so it can be used in a drill. It is for lowering and raising the stabiliser legs but can be used to take off wheel nuts once you have loosened them first with a socket and breaker bar of wheel brace. I purchased one from eBay.
@@carl.colleen.rover.adventures thank you so much for the info, happy camping…cheers
Nice work with the fix I also carry similar things for fixing wiring and everything else and my partner doesn't understand why. I'd rather have it and not need than need it and not have it
I don’t think it is going anywhere now. I do have another box for all 12v spares and cables etc. Must be the Boy Scout training all those years ago paying off 😎
The fix isn’t going anywhere now will probably stay like that forever now. It must have been all the Boy Scout training all those years ago paying off. 😝
Thread sealent on everything 👍✌️
Nice socket set. You can see the moment Coll got bored of filming it, but I liked it 😂
Oh really, did it show? 😮
Get a sharpie and write on your socket set " This Way Up" or put a sticker on the lid. Even a piece of masking tape will suffice.
Good suggestion 😃
Also getting under the car with just a bottle jack and no stand is pretty silly. If u don’t have a small stand just chuck your spare tyre u der there as a back up. It’s a long way to hospital if someone happens.
Did you watch the whole video as I didn’t need to take the wheel off it was only lifted enough to rotate to check the noise was gone? I am aware if I had removed the wheel I would have put it under the car. Thanks for your concern we do appreciate the comments.
Why aren’t u wearing seatbelts pretty irresponsible. If u roll the car or hit the brakes u will know about it.
We kept jumping in and out and hardly moving faster than walking pace There is no risk of rolling and if you watch all our other videos, we are wearing seat belts!
I have only owned my 100 for 4 months and 2 months ago I wanted to check the front wheel bearings. The left dust cap had been off before and was stretched from being centre punched to make it stay put. It didn't really work as it was the silicone gasket that held it in place. So I ordered new caps, but in the mean time I thought how can I keep the old one in place to make the car mobile. I noticed he end of the axle was threaded, so I drilled the old cap, cleaned it, applied silicone gasket to the outer lip and to a bolt head and spring washer. Tightened the bolt just enough and drove around like that for 2 weeks waiting for the new caps. I had no problems at all with this. And if I was to be driving on rough roads now I would probably purchase some copper washers and do the same thing again. I can't see any reason for not doing this as a permanent mod.
Mine has never come loose before but we did do a lot of corrugations. Will keep an eye on it in the future.
You might want to delete a video of you both not wearing seatbelts. Or not.
We kept jumping in and out and hardly moving faster than walking pace but we do usually wear them all the time.
Beautiful camp-site guys. How's the Rover holding up with the dust.? Enjoying the videos ... all best Cate and Mary from the Rover meet up group in Sydney.
@@lameagirl8565 dust isn’t an issue. Biggest issue is finding a great camping spot to get enough solar so Starlink and fridge don’t draw too much power.
Me and wife maybe soon as well heheheh :)
Enjoy!
Nice easy fix there. Enjoyed the heavy metal music and Carl flexing his muscles! X
