DCX354. Smaller Size, No Compromise
มุมมอง 7Kปีที่แล้ว
More transducer, smaller space, previously impossible mid-frequency extension, and output for demanding long-throw systems. The DCX354 comprises five years of R&D, two patents, and a radical MF diaphragm design: All to better address arrayable systems. Patent-pending hybrid diaphragm shape is large at mid-frequencies, decouples to become smaller at high-frequencies. The best of both worlds in o...

    You have to make a discount for additional XO parts. Because there are many competitors that can play from 800-900 up to 20k with one coil, at about the same power, for about a same price. A good cap and Lintz wire coil cost half of this driver's price.

    Will the me148 or me464 sound better in a home hifi use case, for the dcx354 if the lower frequency cutoff is not an issue (xo above 500hz)?

    Is is possible to achieve sensitivity of midrange speaker as same as compression midrange driver

    • @Artcore103
      @Artcore103 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, not without many drivers in a line array or similar design - lots of surface area. The impedance matching of a compression driver to the air, both by virtue of the driver and the horn or waveguide, results in an effective physical or mechanical amplification which greatly increases efficiency. That's the beauty of horns. Less excursion and potentially less distortion for a given spl, greater immediacy and realistic dynamics.

    Too often companies design wave guides and emphasize on the horizontal dispersion and not the vertical, and even more so those who do don't realize that they encounter comb filtering issues when coupled together. These testing and simulation carried out on a single driver and wave guide only represent theoretical and not practical testing. Never the less the driver looks good.

    As leader and owner, and at the same time part of the same group, there is a chance that B&C Speakers will introduce double coil-gap woofers like 18Sound? Or viceversa, there is a chance that 18sound will make coaxial-compression driver like B&C? or the the synergy between the two companies is only commercial?

    • @bcspeakers1051
      @bcspeakers1051 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's a chance of anything, of course, but the reason we haven't so far is the same as the reason we haven't in the past - before we owned the 18 Sound brand. Customers who want that technology gravitate towards 18S, who are specialists in it!

    Looks good! I'm curious if/when the data sheets for these coax drivers will show the phase response of the two bands. Another useful spec will be the path length since that's a bigger deal for the ring radiator products.

    • @bcspeakers1051
      @bcspeakers1051 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Drew, we don't publish phase response for any of our transducers, they're minimum phase devices. What would you do with the path length data? I think it would require some assumptions about where the acoustic center is, much more accurate to measure in your loudspeaker design - which you'll have to do anyway!

    • @chmedlychmedenstein916
      @chmedlychmedenstein916 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ha. You recognize me! Anyway, I think I was thinking that any additional information to help predict what it will do would be helpful. A designer might be able to disregard a driver without having to order a sample if they see that the phase just won't work with their desired crossover topology etc. And a path length spec means that B&C will determine for me where the acoustic origin is ;) A whole lot of this speaker stuff is about modeling; predicting what it will be without having to make it to test. But you're right, gotta build it and measure in the end anyway. Thanks Bennett!

      @@bcspeakers1051what are the differences (differing advantages or design goals) of b&C's split winding voice coils vs 18sound's ISV technology? If power handling or maximum excursion is not the top goal, but fidelity in a low/medium spl HiFi use case, what are the best driver options (15/18" series b&c or 18sound drivers, or other b&c brand)?
