Archaeological evidence suggests that humans have lived in this valley for at least 14,000 years. Why? What has been the attraction for so long? Simply put, access to clean water. Clean water for humans to drink, clean water for fishes and other aquatic life, and periodic flooding depositing nutrients to support lush plant life on the flood plain have all contributed to a healthy environment.
