This is a short video of when I got to travel to the Philippines. Most of the footage is taken at Village of Hope in Bohol Philippines. Family day is where all the kids from the 4 homes come together to play games. Usually this is done outside, but because of the rain, we played games in home 2. The beauty pageant went over great with the kids! It was a definitely a trip to remember. If you hav...

    Im wondering if I should replace the bushings on them. Your lower control arms look fine why replace them?

    • @white_ostrich
      @white_ostrich 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      From what I remember it was because the whole lower control arm was basically the same cost as the bushings alone. So getting the whole control arm with the bushing already installed was just easier for almost the same cost.

    Thanks, didn’t know I would be doing this service until I got attached to my truck, hopefully it won’t be a struggle, especially since the parts are now over 20 years old

  • @hermes_logios
    @hermes_logios ปีที่แล้ว

    It’s possible to safely remove the spring without compressors (which I do not use and don’t trust). You have to raise the truck higher, then support the lower arm with a jack of its own to simulate ride height. Then take off the shock and disconnect everything from the lower arm (which you’re replacing anyway). Then slowly lower the jack that’s holding up the lower arm, and the spring will release tension all the way down to zero. The reverse procedure is how they’re installed at the factory. Not with spring compressors, which are only needed if you’re leaving the lower arm connected (which would prevent it from dropping all the way down).

    Great show Steve, one thing my son told me was, before you Tear apart your own vehicle you can go to a U pull it junkyard, pay three bucks to get in, take your tools in there find a vehicle like yours and take it apart just leave everything lay on the ground and walk away, cost you three or four bucks now you know how to do it.

    2002 f150 original owner. I did shocks first.. Had mechanic replace all of front end.. in/out tie rods, center link everything but lower arms. Fixed 80% of issues but still having something loose rattling over bumps RF tire. No phone call today for estimate, wife/secretary said it's not the wheel bearings..that he's still looking. I'm wondering what it might be..

    Are there any toque specifications for the shock absorber at the bottom of the control arm studs and the top of the strut tower, I’m working on a 2002 f150 and want to make sure the bushings are pressed properly and so the bottom of the strut doesn’t come off.

    You don't need. Fork. If you just hit the side of the spindle where the ball joint goes through with the hammer it will let loose. That goes for all ball joints including tie rod ends. Been doing it for 20ys
