Y’all for some people who don’t know , Hawaii used to be it own nation . And a guy named Cook discovered it unexpectedly. And he was from Britain. He started to share what he discovered and a lot of people came to see. And people started taking over the land to the point the Queen Liliokalani was overthrown by a group of haoles ( foreigners) . Therefore Hawaiian IS a nationality .

Facts! When I moved to the mainland, I always had to explain to others growing up till this day; I was born in Hawaii but No I’m not Hawaiian I’m A Flip mix with Samoan and other ethnicity. I got to point where I just say I’m a human born in America.

You may be Filipino, but you look Hawaiian for the most part and you live in Hawaii. I call all people who live in California, Californians, regardless of their race or ethnicity. I call all people who live in New York, New Yorkers. If you live in the State of Hawaii, you are Hawaiians because that’s the name of your State. Be proud! It’s truly an honor to be called Hawaiian! Well you hit the insufficiency of language: People that live at a place are usually called by the place. So there ethnic Hawaiians and there are resident Hawaiians. Of course one can split that but that kinda nasty because that would mean either being Foreigners or Settlers and in the worst case, for say white continental "Americans" it would mean them to be colonialists. ...
