Bloodsport definitely stretches the meaning of "true story," but I absolutely love it.
@big_burly_bro Right? The same is true with Braveheart, but man, I want entertainment, not accuracy. 😁
Cosmic
some great pickups.
😊🎉
th-cam.com/video/Ggc3-XarhcU/w-d-xo.html HELLO SOUTHERN GRAILS , I SEARCH THIS SONG FUSION JAZZ !!! YOU KNOW THE TITLE ??? THANK YOU.
Awesome list. Thanks so much. Can't wait to listen to the ones I haven't heard yet. What was the album you were playing in the background?
John Wright - Makin Out
Fantastic. Thank you very much.
donald byrde 😊
Did you say Art Tatum on drums?
@@MrGolyat1 I think so 😆 I probably meant Art Taylor.
Rump roller with joe Henderson 👍
I kills me to hear you throw your alums down after showing them. You must be more careful. I would hate one of your albums to become damaged.
@@deborah4737 It sounds worse than it is 😁
would love to have a copy of that Mobley’s Message sheesh 😅
Can I say I love the line ‘Mofi up’. Excellent vinyl husbandry!
Great live
Great stuff as always. Btw is the Love Supreme a mono or stereo? Tree
It's a Stereo. Still searching a clean mono. 😢
Great collection, I enjoy very much watching this video. My top 5 Blue Note records are: 5.Dexter Gordon - One flight up 4.Jimmy Smith - Home Cookin' 3.Cannonball Adderley - Something else 2.Stanley Turrentine with The 3 Sounds - Blue Hour 1.Kenny Burrell - Midnight Blue
Thank you!! I need that Dexter Gordon 😍
@@southerngrailsauctions It's mind blowing!
My top 5 Blue Notes: 1. McCoy Tyner - The Real McCoy 2. Joe Henderson - Page One 3. Grant Green - Idle Moments 4. Horace Silver - Song For My Father 5. Dexter Gordon - One Flight Up
Pepper adams was on hank mobleys poppin an amazing record
So you're the reason that I never find any good records at A Better Way... 😜
Ha! I used to go there a lot about 10 years ago.
@@southerngrailsauctions I go there somewhat frequently. Haven't been in awhile though due to financial constraints. Lol.
saw that Horace Parlan last week in fantastic condition in small town in Sweden. original deep groove in vg+++ condition, still shiny. They wanted 900 usd for it
That's a good deal
@@southerngrailsauctions Thought so too, still a lot of money, might drive by there again
I’m down with the sickness 😂
Gabo Szabo is fantastic- you definitely saved the best til last. Wish you could find records like that in UK charity shops. That’s definitely some haul! Thanks Will 👍
One of my all favorites
Naw. Marilyn and Jayne would still be top 10 today in my opinion. NATURAL beauty. Nice showing as always. Any idea when you will be back in Augusta?
I would agree on Marilyn, assuming it was not Kardashian infected. Not sure when I'll make the drive that way.
@@southerngrailsauctions I actually believe Jayne > Marilyn. Have a blessed week.
@@lindaleg3659 Both gone too young 😢
@@southerngrailsauctions true that man.
I love Byrd In Hand! That’s a fantastic addition to your collection, hoping to snag one soon myself!
You should check Blue Note’s Sonny Clark “Sonny’s Crib”, you’ll never be the same!!!!!
Been on my wantlist for a long time. Definitely a tough one to track down!
When was the record show held and where ?
Last Sunday in Tampa Florida
"Easter Everywhere" is a grower. I honestly didn't like it much until I heard it on vinyl, with the 2022 mono/stereo splatter reissue. It is a true masterpiece. I've loved their first album "Psychedelic Sounds" for many years. Supposedly the master tapes for the 13th Floor Elevators albums have been lost or destroyed over the years, and the early pressings sound much better. I've never heard those pressings, so I can't say. But '60s psych and garage rock are my main jams, but I also give myself a hard cutoff limit on what I will spend on an album.
I listened to it 3 times, I wish I could appreciate it enough to keep it. It's not bad, it just doesn't grab me.
Enjoyed this, lovely selection! If only we had this selection in UK record stores
Oh, Dial S for Sonny is AMAZING! GREAT sounding
I have the Canadian 1st press mono of that Chocolate Watchband, I'll trade you that plus some cash for your US :)
And you know ive got canyon lady!
Man, I've got so many 2nd blue note pressings that are so much more rare than the first particular pressings... What's your opinion on that?
Definitely, some are much more rare as the second run on an unsuccessful album will get pulled fast.
U not a collector .u a flipper
I disagree with you. He buys records for the love of it. Selling some, keeping what he wants.
I do have children to feed
I recently bought that Helen Merrill you've got in the background. Mine is a clean 57 3rd pressing, but interestly enough it's the rarest copy, only having sold once on discogs. I got a great price on it as well. Nice finds btw as usual!
Good you got a clean one. Tough to find in any condition.
@@southerngrailsauctions check that out it you get a chance. The difference is black font instead of blue on the back, and a slightly smaller drummer boy on label. I think there were 11 owners 1 discogs buyer when I checked.
Have You been to Grantski's Record Store and Psychotronics in Augusta. I'm here in Augusta. Awesome Video!
Absolutely! Spent a lot of cash and they gave me a free shirt. Even recognized me from Instagram which was super cool!!
@@southerngrailsauctions Let me know when You come down again if you remember I would like to meet You. I'm Retired Military and I have been buying records for 51 years. Cool.
You have to do shows or have a separate part of your house for your store. You have to keep costs low if you have to pay up for collections. I'm planning on doing this but my focus will be the much maligned cd. I'm building a 10K sq foot barn home with a budget of 2M cash. If it works out, it works out. I do plan on selling online but I'm building out in the countryside off of major highways but 50 miles from NYC. It'll be interesting since I've partially retired at 47 and am currently looking after my elderly mother. I have an 80K cd collection but those end up more focused and condition isn't paramount like it is with vinyl. I feel records are a fetish that is a kink too tough to please for online sales. I'll do some if I get a good deal but it's not my primary focus. What do you do with a VG record? Add pluses? Sell in person? Discount 50% after you've paid up. Not nice!
That sounds awesome! Wish I had that kind of capital. You should do very well, especially being that close to the city. 😃
Cool*
Been digging a lot of Prog rock lately....have you heard of Chon....you might like them. I will be checking out that Mighty Baby!
Never heard but looked them up, nice sound. Nice acoustic picking.
Flamethrower with the heat! Always taking notes from these videos sir 👏🏻
Great finds as always Will. Love my soul and funk so will be checking out those Ramp and Soul albums. Cheers !
Thanks Andy!! Soul is such a good one
Nice work and collection. I think you had to burp a few times in the first two mins and held it in, well done.
Thanks for the video. Great start for someone getting started in jazz AND a great video for people who have been into jazz for a while to check in and see what albums may have slipped under their radar! I come back to this one when looking for more albums to put in my playlist and familiarize myself with what else I need to keep an eye out for!
The Sermon soooo good
You have your finger on the pulse of those OG jazz pickups! Great stuff all around! Those Ornette Coleman and Bill Evans records are fantastic!
Took awhile to warm up to Ornette, but now I'm all in.
Best haul of lps I've seen in the vc. You're as fussy about condition as I am. Where do you sell your records?
I do weekly Ebay auctions
The condition of the records you find is just superb! Leroy Hutson is great and I’m starting to build a small collection of his albums- I only discovered him last year. The cover art on those last two albums is just fantastic! Cheers Will 👍
Thanks! Those Roger Dean cover art are some of the best.
Wish I would of known that you were in Augusta. I’m next door in Evans. Would of been cool to of met up. Great finds as always.
Hey, I live here in August next to the mall. I'm new here Retired Military. Always looking for Vinyl Community Friends.
We will def have to hook up. I’m in the process of moving / still in Evans. Sub’d you. Will keep you posted once I’ve settled in.
@@lindaleg3659 Cool, Thanks!!!
nice Classical pick-ups.
I always wonder what I missed over the years not knowing about classical pressings.
Hey man there is a 5 LP Osamu Kitajmi box set called the early years by everland which might be worth checking out
I saw it, thanks! yeh, I pretty much added everything of his to my want list ☺️
@@southerngrailsauctions I've been there before...enjoy it!
great list... a little bit short on jackie mclean, but all the other major blue note guys well represented
All my Jackie is on New Jazz, still looking for clean Blue Note of his. It hasn't been easy 😒
Buddy! Please, your poor speakers! What did they do to make you put them in the corner like that?! At the very least, pull them forward to the edge of that entertainment unit! Please, you will be happier with the sound. If you wanna get really crazy pull them out into the room and spread them apart a little more to get a better stereo image, soundstage and center image. If you can't, due to wife and kids, at least pull them forward and maybe read up on speaker placement to get a better understanding. All that aside, nice video and really nice vinyl!!! Love anything Grant Green, Idle Moments is one of my favorites too! Kenny Burrells Midnight Blue is right up there too. Enjoy!
I changed them awhile ago, they're about 15 feet apart now, much better. I'm learning 😌
@@southerngrailsauctions awesome! Did you notice quite a difference then? I know a lot of people that listen and enjoy music don't necessarily take to much time to make their experience better and don't realise that just by better speaker placement... it makes a difference! Half of the sound is gear, the other half is placement and room. Most of my Jazz has been all the reissues as I just got into vinyl again last Christmas because my son got me an album and my TT needed to be replaced, so I got a new one and down the rabbit hole I've gone! Lol. One last tip, I just thought of... if you're using a felt or rubber mat, look at a rubber/cork blend. It'll change the sound for the better as well. Take care!
@seano218 The difference was huge. Our house was built in the 1800s and has huge ceilings, so it was fun putting them in different places to get different sounds.
@@southerngrailsauctions that's awesome! Enjoy all your great jazz albums!
Another great pile of amazing finds and you got an OG of Afro Harping!!! You’re a well lucky guy! Hope that cold gets better soon mate. Cheers Will 🙏
Love the sub pop 200 box.. soundtrack of my youth growing up in seattle.. Green RIver's Hanging Tree and Mudhoney's cover of The Rose are standout tracks for sure.
Conway Twitty would be proud 😆
