No, the strobe tubes are soldered and glued into the lamp assembly.

The bulbs or the lams? The bulbs should pull straight out. The lamp assemblies slide out from the side of the light bar. Remove the end lamps (ally lights) and then slide out the lamps.

@Rob D what cable do you use to go into the 9 pin rj485 thing , is it a usb to 9 pin or something else, my toughtbook has a 9 pin mail outlet on it but not sure if I can use it?

@@jamesrossi4260 I am using an old DB9 to DB9 serial cable. Just a plain old serial cable will do.

It is a 9pin serial to 9pin serial. The software was designed to be used with older X86 PCs and is looking for the traditional serial port on IRQ1 thru 9. I have found that the USB serial cables don't always perform the serial port emulation IRQ values correctly and the software may not find the serial port when scanning for it. I have been told by others that they had no problems using the USB serial port emulators. I guess you will just have to try and see if it works for you.

No, you are correct. There are yellow lenses and amber lenses, and orange lenses. Just depends what color you want. Technically, all of them are called amber, but they aren't all the same color.

Rob D thats what i thought, even with the whelen edge 9000, have noticed the difference, ive been looking into Rangerservices for maybe a first whelen strobe bar build. Do you know anymore places to get parts? I just dont like LED’s, have been around strobes most of my life in utility work and i honestly think that strobes are brighter.

@@rawblow4512 EBay has some used stuff like lenses, strobes, and power supplies, but buyer beware. They are all used and most have been misused so the usability can be questionable. I have bought from Ranger Services and they are great to deal with, I recommend them. They also have new stuff coming in all the time so check there website twice a week for new items. As for which is brighter, strobes or LEDs, it depends on the strobes and LEDs. 100W strobes are brighter then most of the Generation I, II, and III LEDs. The newer LEDs on the market today are the next generation and can produce a flash that exceeds 1000 lumens, or a 500watt strobe. They also do this with less than a third of amperage of a 1990s strobe bar.

Rob D hey good deal with ranger services, I’ve been watching some of their videos as well. Wow i had no idea the LED’s were getting that bright, i would think those would blind drivers on the highway? Here in oklahoma we have started letting highway construction, road maintenance and tow trucks run red and blue in the rear of vehicles and amber/white in front. Thank you so much for your info!

That is not the lightbar or controller beeping, but the battery jumper that I am using to power the setup. It is beeping because the charge is low.

Thank you for the comment, the program is called Video Editor from Microsoft. I found it in the Microsoft Store.

In device manager for windows, check to see what port numbers are being used. Sometimes a mouse or touch pad can be assigned to port 1 and the serial port may be assigned to port 2 or 3. Figure that out then change the SC software to use that port number for the serial port. The Transfer to MPC button will not be available until the port issue is resolved.

You have the Red and Black cables from the mpc01 unit connected to the Power (+5-12v) and Gnd ports of the data converter respectively. I thought the power output of the data converter from PC is 5v not enough to power on the mpc01 hence you are using the wall power adapter 12v supply. If so, the black and red can be connected to the 12v supply without having to connect to the RS485. Is that right?

@@TheIanteh Thanks for the question. Both the MPC01 and the RS485 data converter both need 12V in order to work.

I got the software from whelen. I emailed them and they sent me a CD in the mail, FREE.
